Unwanted backlash.

I wonder if people ever think about the unwanted backlash from what they say? Trump believes that Obama wasn't born in the U.S. because of the type of birth certificate Obama was issued when he was born in Hawaii. Instead of marring Obama alone , his words imply that Every American that is born in Hawaii isn't a citizen because of the type of birth certificate they are issued. Now I assume Trump didn't mean to demean Every one from Hawaii but he has. I wonder if he thought about that? So I ask, do you think many just speak without thinking of the backlash?

I think there are a lot of people that speak before considering the implications of what they have said. I foresee many more speaking without thinking incidences before this Trump thing is over with.

I genuinely feel sorry for the few Republicans who Are not in the Tea Party. They have no say in their own party right now. If Trump runs , It is the best thing to happen to the Democratic party !

He is probably a good man, but he's not cut out to be a politician. He'll probably lose the Hawaiian vote now...

Hello sarahruthbeth22, I watch Trump's interview in The Today Show and weeks ago at David Letterman and I find his statements a bit ridiculous. Maybe he is doing this things because he really want to take Obama's position and as we all know he is running for Presidency. Isn't he? I am here in the Philippines and political backlash is in every corner of our government. But because of what he said people from Hawaii might find him insane and in a way racist. I remember his statement that he has good relationships with the "blacks". So does it mean that he also have good relation with the "whites", "browns" and "pinks"?! I don't like him.

Sounds like what a person-with-money would say. To not really think of th backlash, and the effects of his/her words. He is some sort of a celebrity, so he should know that he shouldn't be spewing out words carelessly. It's just stupid. I guess money can't buy everything.

Yes, yes many people DO speak without thinking about the backlash. Because the press--which is immune to backlash (not really, but they don't care because we often don't have any other FREE information-source)--often maneuvers them into saying scandalous things and then takes the things out of context to make them more-scandalous.

Seems there is no shortage of people who just can't keep their foot out of their mouth. Politicians and wanna-be politicians make a career out of doing exactly that.

I hadn't heard about that comment, but you're absolutely right. I've noticed that a lot of public figures are quite good at putting both of their feet into their mouths, and swallowing. LOL

So many people REALLY think Obama wasn't born in the US! Yes he was born in Hawaii and Hawaii is part of the US! Hawaii is the 50th state! Donald Trump wasn't thinking when he said that and he will get some backlash! So many people talk before thinking! Especially on topics they really don't know about! Then people have to get the foot out of their mouth, when they try to apologize! Politicians especially!
