I think the number one reason why is it so hard to stop smoking are the ingredients in it.Once that stuff gets in your blood stream your body begans to crave it.

hi zills oh do quit as it can ruin your heart as it did my poor husband and it killed him. Some of my friends that quit got patches of some kind from their doctors and they were able to quit by a step down process where the patch kept delivering smaller doses of nicotine until finally they were able to quit completely. so see your doctor and see what he suggests.

As a therapist, I have helped many people quit smoking over the past 30 years or so. The biggest difficulty is that some people misunderstand the nature of craving. It can only be suppressed for a while and often returns from time to time. If it is ignored, it tends to get stronger, so therefore a strong commitment needs to be established to not smoke, but focus on and experience the full force of the craving. Identify exactly where it is felt and keep holding the mind on that place in the body. 90% of craving seems to be in the mind, but the mind feels things through the body, and it is here where the mind will erase the feelings, but it can only do this if it is focused. I quit smoking myself around 35 years ago and I got a lot of insight into the best way to do this, but not everybody is the same, but the technique I have outlined above, worked around 90% of the time as it did for me. The person has to be ready and there has to be a total commitment and it is also good to remind oneself of the benefit of quitting. Things like better health, more money can be saved. To quit once and start again, makes it harder to quit a second time, because the subconscious mind doesn't not take the commitment serious if you don't. Good luck. _Derek

Hi derek... I totally agree with you...quitting needs determination and commitment. And a strong-willed, focused person. Sad to say, my will is weak and therefore fail to quit smoking. But what you said here is inspiring and I will give quitting another try. I need to find that focus first. Thanks.

Addiction can be hard to control. Control in life addiction can't be there if emotional upport i not there. Confidence and motivation are key.

I think because it has some addictive substance that makes you feel like not quitting. I'm not a smoker but my husband is, He swore to me many times before that he'll quit smoking but until now he never stopped. But I hope someday he would

if anybody wants to quit smoking ,drinking it is not a big problem but a addicter can not quit it. the problem is that if he/she smoke/drink than he should take the plaedge that he/she will quit smoking. he should read about the negative effects of smoking and take pledge to quit the smoking.

I have not smoked, but my parents did, and my first husband did. Because smoking is both an addiction and a behavior, it has to be cured or solved in both areas. You have the habit of lighting up at certain times, so you need another activity that fits those times of your day. Then there is the addiction to the chemicals. I understand that people do better with some medical assistance to do that. Good luck my friend

Any addiction be it smoking or being a myLotter is one and the same and the common denominator is the difficulty to give it up. Addiction keeps one drawing to it as one becomes addiction dependent. But a strong will can fight addiction together with tools that provide the required impetus.

Recently I've met a friend who said he was a chain smoker. He tried hard and quit smoking (i don't know how though). But he still craves when someone near him smokes and he shakes but doesn't smoke. That's determination, he told me he'd never smoke again. So what you need is maybe a strong determination. Anyway good luck. I hope you can stop smoking soon.

there's this certain medicine that my grandma suggested to my uncle for him to quit smoking. im sorry but i dont know what the medicine is, but it's effective. when i teased my uncle "so you're still a mother's boy huh... :)" he told me, "if only there's a medicine for you to love smoking i'll buy you that, and then i'll let you take the medicine your grandma told me about, so that you'll know how this feels. and then i'll be the one to tease you. :)" my uncle and i are close, and so joking about almost everything is just normal. then thought that he really wanted to quit smoking. but he also said that no matter how many medicines you take if you're really addicted to smoking and have no presence in mind, then avoiding it might be a little hard. :)

the main reason is weak will power. . . .IF A PERSON CAN QUIT IS LIFE WITH THE WILL POWER THEN WHY NOT QUIT SMOKING??? BE DETERMINED !
