This political cartoon predicts very dire future for the US and the Constitution that governs it. Note the 'Plan of Action' for the US - it includes the words "Spend Spend! Spend!" and "junk the Constitution". Sounds like the cartoon in today's paper, doesn't it? http://www.chicagotribune.com/health/sns-pod-1934-cartoon-pic,0,7114709.photo Look again, it's from 1934. Same policies then, same economic crisis. The only difference is the names have changed. FDR was President and these were his policies. Is it any coincidence that FDR is the hero of our present President Obama? Given the parallels in the economic situations and the proposed solutions, do you think this cartoon is applicable to today? Should we be any less worried about the sanctity of the Constitution and government spending than people obviously were back then?

That reminds of the saying "those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it". We are repeating history only we're a lot more stupid. We've rejected the morals of the 30's so we don't even have the strong base in our general population--unwed mothers are celebrated and rewarded with entitlements and the fathers aren't held responsible. Back then there weren't so many because it was a shameful thing. That's just one example of how far we have fallen and why we're in such financial trouble. Yes, we should be more worried now than they were then because we've lost our moral base and become a nation of feelings, not sense. I heard something on the radio yesterday that really hit home. Someone said the Constitution is said to be a living, breathing document but an unborn child is considered a burden with no rights whatsoever. I think that underscores the depravity in our courts and our government.

I think we should be very worried. Anytime they want to take our rights "for the greater good" it is a sure sign we should fight back that much harder. I think the argument has been made that there are those that would take away US sovereignty, work toward The New World Order. By chipping away at our Constitution, it brings us that much closer.

It should have been fought harder back in FDRs administration. But WWII got in the way. I'm just afraid WWIII will distract us this time.
