Do you feel happier to make a dollar online than a dollar from full time work?

It seems strange that we treat a dollar differently. If our bosses give us just a salary increment of a dollar, we will feel very insulted. We may not even feel happier with 3% salary increment. Yet when it comes to online earnings, a dollar makes us feel so happy that we start to tell everyone. Do you feel happier to make a dollar online than a dollar from full time work? Since a dollar is a dollar. The value is the same. Why do you think we have such mentality?

To me, a dollar earned is a dollar earned. The difference is where the dollar earned actually comes from. I work hard, or try to work hard, for the few dollars that I earn. It doesn't really matter to me where it comes from.

Hi Dodo19, I see money in much the same way. The only difference is that I do not always transfer money from paypal to the currency in my country. I buy silver with the US dollars, since it is declining in value, and converting means losing much in value. I just hope that silver price will increase, and I can make a profit by selling the silver bars. In this way, I gain from online earnings, and also from investing from my online earning.

I think we always associate being on the internet with 'relaxing'. That it is something we do on our spare time. So that when we do earn something online, it seems like it is more valuable! Because not much effort was put into it. As compared to offline work. Even though the reality is, as you say, a dollar is a dollar.

Hi Bounce, I think if we compare ourselves to million of other users, we feel even happier. My friends are just wasting their time on surfing, and not earning a single cent. At least we can earn ten dollars per month by putting in the same amount of time online. We can even use the money to pay part of the internet bill. That sounds very good!

It's true that I would feel happier if I could earn a single dollar online May be it's not easy for me to earn online income. I treat what I earn online as my pocket money while having fun online. But I depend on what I have made from full time or part time works in my real life to make a living. Therefore a single dollar couldn't play a part in our monthly wage for it's extremely little compared to what we have made usually Happy posting

Hi Ikbooi, I treat my online earning as a form of investment. It is literally an investment of my time and effort. If I try to compare the earning with full time employment, then that is very disappointing. However, by comparing it to the current bank saving interest rate, I find that even mylot pays much better. Over here, the bank saving interest rate erodes the value of our money. At just 0.1%, it is far lower than the inflation rate. imagine parking $1000 in the bank for a year, and earn just a dollar! I think we can do that easier when we spend a few hours in mylot for just one day. That few hours of typing, and arguing with other mylotters easily net us more than a dollar.

I have noticed that difference, too. In my offline job I earn at least $15 an hour and when I work online I never make that kind of money. When I work online I have to spend spend a lot of time in front of the computer and compared to my offline job I only earn relatively small amounts. In my offline job one dollar doesn't sound like a lot, because I usually earn $15 an hour. Online I appreciate one dollar more. It is a little stupid because a dollar is a dollar, but I think it is because it is hard to make large amounts of money online. It feels like more of an achievement to earn one dollar online, because I have to spend more time and I have to work hard to get that dollar online.

Hi Porcospina, I also feel kind of stupid when I just look at the monetary value of earning a dollar online. If your offline income is increased by a dollar a day, you will not even feel so happy about that extra dollar. If your online income increases by just a dollar a month, with the same effort, you will feel so happy! I think we are really ridiculous creature!

Hi Lokeshsbind, that is true. Compared to our friends who are just surfing, and not making any money, we are doing so much better than them. Even though the earning is low, it is good enough to pay for a cup of coffee every week. If we have more than one source of online income, we should make enough to pay for the internet bill and phone bill.

I guess the first time we make money from a new source (and an additional source) is definitely exhilarating. Thereafter, we measure the effort to the output, then we come to reality. Both are of equal value, but one is done without "putting up with the boss". Ha ha

Hi Tiffnkeat, if I compare the online earnings to full time employment, I will feel disappointed. It is so hard to earn just one cent, never mind the first dollar. However, when I compare the online earnings to the saving interest rate, I feel much better. The miserable interest rate paid by the POSB is too little for anything. At least our effort here and in Triond can pay us much better than the stupid bank.

You are right in that a dollar is a dollar. But I think I would rather earn it online from the comfort of my own home in climate controlled temps. I have a physical job in which I earn a pretty good buck. I do online earnings as a hobby of sorts. It becomes pretty much a nickle and dime thing but it's extra nickles and dimes deposited in my paypal acct for when I shop on ebay.

Hi Gstitzer, same here, I would rather earn that dollar online than from full time employment. I like the fact that I can earn from the comfort of my home, at my own time, and at my most preferred pace of life. It is best that bosses are not around to give orders, or push the most boring tasks over to us. I considered online earnings as part of investment, since it is literally an investment of my time. It is much better than the interest earned on my saving account. The saving interest rate is really miserable, just 0.1% or so. Imagine a thousand dollar in the bank earns just a dollar! That is the most miserable kind of money! If I have the mood for it, I can earn that dollar in just one or two days in mylot here.

To me, my work online is far more valuable than a dollar that I would make with a classic job. I mean, being a nine to five wage slave, for a boss that may or may not be qualified than the people they are going to lead, that can really beat a person down over a number of days. There are many times where I think that ten percent online versus a regular paycheck would be much more satisfying in many ways. Of course, there are many reasons why this is not feasible, but there you go. It is just the feeling that I do have some control of my life, I have a feeling of joy and enlightenment that I really would not feel if I had to deal with the traditional grind. Plus I feel like I have more room to spread my legs and grow. Plus the fact that I never have to leave the comfort of my own room, to make this money, does make it somewhat better for many reasons. I guess that is just the way that I am. So I do feel happier making money on my own two feet.

Hi Megamatt, I think if we can increase our online income ten times, most of us would quit full time work forever, and stay at home. It is such a struggle in the morning traffic rush to get to work. On top of that, we may have unqualified and sarcastic bosses to make stupid remarks about our performance. I think given a choice, we would prefer to work at our own time, and in the comfort of our home. I value every single cent i earned online. That is much better than waiting for the saving interest rate to increase.

Hi Metalsolid86, it does take far more time to earn a dollar online. But in term of job satisfaction, it is better than working full time. Most of us work for others, and we have not get a very good boss to help us. We do not get to choose our work too. In online earning, we can do it at our time and from the comfort of our house. That is a great blessing. If only we can increase our monthly income from online activities, that will be much better. Fortunately most of us can earn more than ten dollars every month.

Hi gmkumar, I agree with your thought. I have tried to tell my friends about it, but they are not interested in earning online. They prefer to play games, or check out facebook. Just too bad they are not getting paid for it. Even though they say that ten dollars a month is not a big deal, the money does add up to a tidy sum. I have used the earnings from the last half of last year to buy some silver bars. The money in my paypal is not enough, so I have to top up with my savings. But then, when I showed the silver bars to my relatives, they were very impressed with it.

I feel that earning a dollar online makes me more happy than earning a dollar at work. earning at work is like am working for it so I should get paid, while earning online is like an extra income and easy income and make me feel good. and also earning online is for the stuff that I do in my own free time and complete freedom of being at home.

Hi Sylvestor, I feel the same way. The best is that we do not need to fight the early morning traffic rush, or the backstabbing colleague. There is no boss to tell us how badly we have done, and that we have to work harder or smarter. If we can earn a few hundred dollars more from online sources, I think we can just sit back and relax at home. Too bad most of us cannot make enough for survival.

Hi Veganza, yes, I have the same thought. Earning money online is more enjoyable than going to work at full time job. There is no need to stick to a schedule, and no need to rush to work in the morning. I like the fact that there is no boss around to give stress to us too. Just too bad the earning is too little for survival sake. If only we can earn ten times the amount, then we can literally sit at home, and earn online.

I feel a dollar earned online is more like a bonus to the mooney I earn from my day to day job. A type of allowance I guess the beauty of the dollar online is that I get to earn it while sitting next to my wife where as at work I have to put in ten hours a day at a place I really dont want to be and of course away from my family. in the end I will take any money I can get as it makes life easier when you have it.

Hi Cfry02, yes, money is money regardless of how we make it, and the more the better. I think all of us realize in our hearts that full time employment is not permanent, since our bosses can sack us when we are old and slow. In many countries, the legal retirement age is a barrier. In term of making money online, there is no such limit. We can login to different websites, and use different methods to earn money online. I doubt any website is stupid enough to enforce retirement age.

Yes its true that work is work, but I feel when you make that dollar on the internet it is more satisfying. When you get a raise at work, you might have spent that extra dollar on your commute back and forth to and from work with gas prices looking like they will never go down, but when you sitting at home in front of your computer screen there is no added extra cost of it feels more like a real dollar earned to me. That's just how I see it. Great question by the way!

Hi Onlytheo, I also feel the same way. I think all of us are forced by circumstances to work at our full time employment, but we can choose to work online. I think it is great to feel that we are making money to pay the internet bill while our friends are just incurring cost on playing games. It is impossible to think of cost of oil coming down. The only way to have cheap electricity is to have nuclear plant. But that is too risky! An earthquake like that in Japan can cause nuclear disaster.

We are indeed happy to receive our income in dollars and the amount really does not count. My reason is that the thought that we are able to earn foreign exhange sitting in the comfort of our homes and with flexible timings gives us great pleasure. Not all can earn dollars online ;even if it is one dollar the money is hardearned and rare.

Hi Kalav56, if only US dollar appreciates instead of depreciates! Too bad the US dollar keeps on declining. While that is good for the US economy, since the manufacturing companies can sell cheaper to the world, and they can get more orders. That is very bad for us since our earnings are quoted in US dollar. I accumulated my earning for the past year, and used it to buy a few silver bars. The online income was not enough to pay, so I had to top up with my savings.

Actually, I would be happy with another dollar no matter where it came from. I would be thrilled with a dollar raise from my employer, not insulted. As far as why we seem to value the dollar earned online is because it isn't the same as the dollar we earn at work. First, the dollar we earn at work isn't really a dollar by the time you subtract taxes, travel costs, lunches, uniforms, etc. The dollar you earn at work must be earned when someone else tells you to. A dollar earned online is an entire dollar, no travel, no lunch money, no taxes. We can earn that dollar when we want to, which makes it that much more valuable. There is also the satisfaction of earning that dollar because not everyone is able to do so.

" A dollar earned online is an entire dollar, no travel, no lunch money, no taxes." You're right for the most part, firemom. But taxes? It depends on how many of those dollars you make on whether you report it or not, but legally and technically, you are responsible for all applicable taxes.

I think i feel better after earning dollar online as it is easier than a full time physical job, i mean thats my opinion anyway, i think there is more of challenge presence at work that at home mylotting. Also it effects us mentally, for example i dont enjoy work at all period but i have to do it to earn money whereas mylotting here online is less work stressed and more of a hobby really and to make money from hobby is amazing haha. Thanks for the question.

Hi Bryanx54, I understand what you mean. Even participating in discussion here is more enjoyable than working full time job. Plus there is no stress when it comes to making money online. We do not have to answer to anyone why the expenses are going up, or why the report is late this month. I feel the same thing as you have expressed here.

I probably wouldn't spend time trying to make maney if i had enough, doesn't matter where it comes from.i think most people who make money online actually need it, so every dollar counts. I cant get a job right now, so all the money i make is important. i would rather be working, it's a lot easier to make more.

Hi Kalithedestroyer, I think even if I have enough money to live on, I would still try to earn some income online. After all, joining mylot is part of the fun in life. It is interesting to see the different opinions and viewpoints of people from different age group, and different parts of the world. The fact that I get paid is even better. Even at the rate of just ten dollars per month, the total income will exceed a hundred and twenty per year.
