I really don't unless it's really necessary or I know the person very well. I remember before when a friend of mine borrowed a book and when I got it back the book became thick because she said she accidentally poured a soda on it. After that I am very cautious in lending my stuffs.

I always remember the following quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet: Polonius: Neither a borrower nor a lender be, For loan oft loses both itself and friend, And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry. I neither like to borrow nor lend as it never improves friendship and the above quote amply describes it.

Hey, that's a really nice quote. And it's accurate. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I do not like lending my stuff to anyone. Not even my kids. I am very particular about my things and I do not like someone borrowing and not returning it in proper condition.

I will lend things of my own to someone if i really feel they have a need for it. otherwise i am leary to lend my things away. the chances are i may never see that item again. i can just hear how it is lost and that person will not be concerned about it.

I don't usually lend out my things especially if it is important to me or if the item was given by a loved one. I only lend things out if I know the borrower well or if it's the person who gave me the item in the first place!

I am choosy when it comes to lending something to a friend. I have not retrieved a few favorite books I lent to friends and I got a few items broken by careless friends. I myself refrain from borrowing if I can help it as I don't want to be dependent on others. There is a tendency for friends to demand payback beyond your means for making the mistake of borrowing from them. I had a very sad experience on this. So, I can understand if you are cautious yourself.

It depends on the things to be lend. I do not want others borrow my personal belongings, I'd rather give them away in such case I ca not refuse them. I don't know if we called it selfishness but I am not feeling well seeing my things used by other people. I feel awkward. And I did not even borrow things of others. Maybe, because I used to have it all I wanted even when I was a little kid. And, now that I have family of my own, I even scolded my kids touching my personal things. But I let them shares on my combs now.

I don't really like lending things. I rarely do so. I guess I am only opted to lend my things because some person truly needs it and it would just be apart from me for a few days or so. However, I have no problems lending my things to my family members because I know that they would take care of my things because they know my attitude. I don't think it's good to allow people to borrow from you a lot of times. They should respect that I bought things because of my preference or need for them. I don't lend to people who are obviously just taking advantage because they like the 'look' of my stuff rather than theirs. If it's for fashion, then I would not lend it to them.

We share same thoughts about lending things. I don't usually lend my things for health reasons and the possibility of ruining it. My father doesn't like us to practice lending and borrowing things from other people. First , because we are not snails who use to change their shells to others, this means we have to respect privacy of people. Second is, body odors usually transfered through lending your things. Unless if she really needs it, if that's the case I can even give it to her. I respect privacy. So i take care borrowed things.

I have lended a few things to some of my friends in the past. However, my experiences have not been good. Some of them did not return books or money, others had to be reminded again and again. It becomes a pain in the neck, so I prfer not to lend things to others. Regards

I also don't like lending my personal stuffs or collections. I may sound selfish but...hey,i invested with these things and you will just borrow, something like that. like what happened to your book...the borrower should be considerate enough to buy a replacement.. I don't like it when people knows how much we care for our things and they just messed up with it ...really s*ckening right? Have a good day

Hi santos mari chris: Same happends to me for almost the same reasons you have mentioned. People feel uncomfortable when they have to ask someone to give them back a book or whatever you have lend and the worst thing is that, there's the possibility that you forget that you have lend it and you end up losing what you have lend. that's sad. I only lend my things to my family and my closest friend. At least, when they forget to return it, i could easily get it from them.

Me too, i only choose the person who will borrow my things. There are others that when they borrow, they won't give it back to you.

It depends on what they're going to borrow I guess. If it's something that's dear to me I really don't let anyone borrow it even though they may think that I'm selfish.

I am cautious about lending some stuff out, because in the past I haven't gotten some things back. I don't like to ask for things back, but if it was a close friend that wouldn't be offended I would.

I don't like lending my things to others unless it is really important to do do. And I don't like to borrow things from other too as I am afraid I will forget to return it back. So I will try to refrain myself from borrowing items from others as hard as I could because I know the feeling when someone did not take a good care of our things we lend to hm/her and the responsibility when we borrows things from others.

I don't like lending things to the others as well because they do not treat my stuff as well as I do. It seems to people that this is a kind of selfishness but I am afraid I have to do this in order to protect my own belongings.

I've had alot stolen/damaged from me over the years, as I'm always generous in lending my items. However, I believe in karma and I hope that one day when I require something to be lent to me, I'll be trusted.
