Recently I read that already brides begin to avoid the traditional white dresses and prefer red. Well you have you seen a bride with a red dress and how you think that?

Wedding Dress - I love it!!
I think brides should wear whatever they please on their wedding day coz it's their day and they should do whatever makes them happy. Some months ago I saw this really beautiful picture of a green white wedding dress and would love to wear one someday :)

I have never seen a bride in a red wedding dress. I guess that it would be bright and colorful. some of the innocence of being a bride may be lost in that though.

White representing "purity" was invented by the bridal industry. The first white wedding gown was worn by Queen Victoria in 1840. Before that, common women and lower-class nobility simply wore their best dress, higher nobility and royalty wore regalia in rich colours and tapestries. After Queen Victoria wore white, it became the trend to do so. It symbolized ultimate wealth to be able to purchase a delicate white gown to only be worn once. After a while, to keep the trend going, somewhere down the line people started spreading the idea that white meant pure and no woman would ever want to imply that she was impure so the idea stuck.

I have not personally seen anyone wear a red gown, but I think they're absolutely gorgeous. I ended up wearing white just because I got really superstitious about coloured dresses. It was one of the very few "traditions" I actually used.

To have such traditions.I have not seen the bride in another color but I would be interesting to see.

I'm from the Philippines and here white is the traditional color for brides, so I haven't seen any bride wearing another color for their wedding gown but I think it doesn't matter, it's the brides choice...it's her wedding!!! Personally, I would like a little hint of color in my wedding dress but I still want it white though or silvery...I guess tradition can be rooted to our preferences....

For me its no big deal as to what color would your prefer to wear during your wedding. What's more important is the vow that the two of you will share and not just between the 2 of you but its a covenant with Christ.

Not many people look good in all white, I think you should wear what will make you happy on this wonderful day in your life. I remember not long ago black was the choice of brides, in fact I attended a couple weddings where the whole bridal party wore black, Believe it or not because the flowers were bright red the contrest was very handsome.

hahaha just as i was thinking neza, i was like thinking moments ago since i was looking at pictures of gowns for bridesmaid, that if i will to marry in a church, i will not be wearing white since i find that inappropriate for me already but i will wear red for a change. I do not find anything wrong with wearing red. i find it sexy and hot

When my brother and his wife got married, the bride was wearing a blue dress, but aside from that the wedding dresses that I have seen when my relatives and friends got married have all been white. My own wedding dress was also white. When I got married and went to buy my wedding dress, I saw some red dresses in the shop. As far as I remember there were also also some dresses in other colours like pink or purple. I have heard that most women in my country prefer a white dress if they have never been married before. If they are getting married for the second time they sometimes choose a different colour, because a white dress is associated with a virgin.

Very nice indeed mean there are people who are not traditional white and that's good.I think it highlights the strength and will of their uniqueness.

IN the more severe Christian traditions, white wedding dresses can only be worn by virgin brides - red is for women who've been... um... more generous with their favours, shall we say?! I think even some modern Catholic churches won't let you marry in white if it's a second marriage, though I'm not sure. I think you should marry in whatever colour suits you. Black, red, white or fluorescent orange... whatever makes you happy!

It takes time to accept anything that is nonconforming. As of now I will still prefer white or at the most ivory but never red.
• Bulgaria

I have seen pastels but nothing very colorful and or bright. Personally I don't see anything wrong with what ver preference anyone has with regards to the color of their wedding dress. It should always be the brides preference as to which color, unless of course their culture has some sort of tradition.

hello neza, If i am not mistaken in traditional chinese wedding and in hindu /indian wedding they wear Red but in some country (Philippines) they still prefer white one. In my own opinion it's not about the gown but the importance of the wedding and the presence of the bride and groom. have a nice day!

it's getting quite popular, and I think it looks fantastic. I considered it myself, and tried a few on. nobody would have been surprised by it. in fact, I think that more people were surprised by me not wearing red than would have been if I had worn it. it just so happened that the dress I liked most was ivory. but I do think that it's silly that people find it shocking, odd or somehow not proper. it's up to every individual what they want to wear to get married in. and being red doesn't make it any less a proper wedding dress.

Well, I would still prefer to wear the traditional white dresses as it symbolizes purity - that is representing the love that I have for my future husband to be. Red is far too bold.
