Yesterday i went running barefoot on the beach. I didn't cause i read that running on the beach is the best to keep your knees safe. Any way i run for like 40 minutes and i try running or on the soft sand or on the shallow water. Now, a day after i feel strong "D.O.M.S" on my gastrocnemius muscles, i feel it is a good pain and i think it is a great run to make you gastro stronger

I understand that running on the beach is very good for your knees and that it builds strength. I do not have a beach here to run on.

The doctor who did surgery on my foot says not to run, but only walk. I do get to go to the lake a time or two in the summer and can walk then. We have nice parks for walking on.

Yes, u are right. That's where my bf and my brother would suggest me to join them for a short run. By running on sand, it creates some resistance due to the soft landing, and running barefoot, allows us to run naturally, letting our body absorb those impacts. It's good to run along the beach as there's everything in sight, all the relaxation in front of me, which pushes me to run further, not wanting to stop. I don't mind about the pain because pain is my sugar daddy.

I have high pain threshold, trained by my brother who's a marathon runner, as well as my bf who's a triathlete.

Let's see you talking like that after 30 minute of shine pain :) It is really beauty to run on the beach and feel the cold breeze touching your skin, and if it is a hot day you can even run and relax at the cold waters...

I am happy you like it, i guess that you are a sprinter. I think that if you exercise sprinting in the water it will be good for you, cause first you will have less impact from the water than from the road, and second water have more resistance than air, so you will make your muscles stronger and it even will be easier for you to sprint on normal road, after you will exercise sprinting on shallow waters..

Wow 40 minutes sounds like a good workout so keep it up. As for me I really have done so unless I am running towards the beech to jump into the water. During the hot summers here though we have to wear water shoes because the sun is way too hot and the sand can scorch your feet, because it gets way too hot.

Wow I really envy you young people that you have all the time to do that and stay healthy, I use to do that every time when I was younger and did not care much about my time, beaches then were cleaner than they are now although we still have quite a lot of fine beaches here in the Philippines as long as it is far from Metro Manila. I think any form of exercise or running is good for the body so long as you are healthy enough for the activity.

Actually i don't have some much time :) I need to work and study, i am a student, and i think it is important to exercise at your free time.. I think every one can find some time, but you need to give up on something else and the problem is that after exercise you need a lot of sleeping hours..

Yeah. I would love to live near the ocean and enjoy the beach like that. I hope to be able to visit or live near a beach by the ocean again sometime. It is a good workout.

hi yoniarnon I have read thats a great way to exercise that humongous named muscle and am all for it but heed that pain warning as you may be overdoing it. if the pain does not linger later you are probably safe I cannot run now as I have two bad knees due to that disastrous fall day after Valentine's day.I am leery of any pain being a good pain specially in one's knees. Our bodies are usually smarter than we are and we all should listen when they protest too much. I would so love to be able to use a swimming pool for me to exercise in as I have old arthritis in both knees and water helps me exercise without injuring my knees but they do not have one here at Gold Crest or anyplace close happy running and Good luck.

It's really very healthy. If we walk or jog barefoot, the electrons from the earth will easily be transmitted into the body, thus creating healing.

Wow! You are very health conscious I see. I haven't run on the beach barefoot yet, because when I go to the beach I usually swim right away. But I have observed that when you walk or run in the water it is harder because of the water resistance so I think you really are doing more work than just running on a normal ground. Good luck on your work out. I hope it will yield good results.

I agree with you, the water have more resistance than the air, so running on water is harder and the water have less impact than the sand and ground so it is healthier to the knees. I like swimming to at the beach, but sometimes i go only for running..
