Name a cartoon you don't like

Peter Griffin - Disgusting Peter Griffin from Family guy
Mexico

Some weeks ago I've created a discussion about the heroes of our childhood http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2512710.aspx Now I'd like to ask you the opposite thing. Cartoons are great but there's probably at least one cartoon that you clearly don't like. The reasons may be different but we don't love all the cartoons. In my case, if someone ask me I'd say that I don't like Peter Griffin. It's funny because I like Family Guy but I just can't stand Peter Griffin. He is so disgusting. I mean, he is really evil, he hates his own daughter and beat her, he acts like a child, he never listen, he makes terrible things and almost all his plans become a disaster. He is stupid but not as a Homer J. Simpson, he is stupid and evil. He is a terrible dad and a bad husband too. The worst part is that I ask myself why is he married with beautiful Lois. It's ridiculous. I must say that I'd prefer to see her dating with Brian, the dog! than with her husband. I simply don't like Peter. I love almost all the characters but Peter. Wow. I needed to say this. So now it's your turn guys. Name a cartoon you don't like.

The kids in our house, my nephews, nieces along with my son watched playhouse Disney. Most of them are giving or showing good examples to be a better kid. And there are some episodes that will help or teach you how to spell words and count numbers, But there is one show I didn't like, it is the "Timmy, the little lamb". I don't like that show because they don't talk, all they do was make sounds of an animal. Yes the characters are animals of course but what i didn't like is that they just make sounds like an animal. For me it is not good for my son who is one year and seven month old where in his stage of learning to talk.. I want to have an overall environment for my child to stimulates and encourages speech and language.

Hi nimsaj: My little sister watched Playhouse dinner when she was a little girl. IN my case, Disney Channel didn't existed in my country when I was a little kid . I would love to watch some of these shows if I could be a little boy again. Thanks for your answer. ALVARO

Hi nimsaj: You are right and I sometimes watch cartoons but it's not teh same. When you are a little kid you believe in magic and this makes it more special. I enjoy my childhood, it's just that kids have more ways to have fun these days. ALVARO

South Park,i absolutely hate it.i find it offensive, silly and immoral. What's with cartoon programs nowadays?used to be cartoons were for meant for children and families, now some of them are as violent and offensive as any R rated movie. Today there are cartoon programs I would never let my child watch, they have enough time to learn the bad things of this world, they don't need to learn them through cartoon programming.

HI jujunme: I have watch South Park and it's full of WTF moments. There's a lot of violence, offensive languaje and hateful speech. There are some chapters that are ok but most of them are disgusting and they are not appropiate for kids. ALVARO

Hi stowyk: Actually I think the objective of Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Partk creators) is to offend people, create controversy and insult every religion and every point of view with their cartoons. They have the freedom of speech right and they use it to attack other persons. ALVARO

I don't like Cinderella, that is a beautiful story, but it has negative effect such as make children want to be a Cinderella and just wait the fates to take care of her instead of fight for hershelf. the Cinderella complex could make her self-pity, then will be unconfident to do anything. that is so bad!

Hi sara liuisme: I haven't thought about this before. But you are right, Cinderella is not actually a good role model. She didn't do anything after all the abuses that she received from her step mother and sisters. ALVARO

I never liked Furturama. I don't like any of the characters, I don't think any of their jokes are that witty, and the whole idea behind the show is just kind of boring to me. The same goes for Family Guy. I understand why people like that show, but I hate most of the jokes and I feel that it is meant for the average viewer with no attention span. As for cartoon characters... I love King of the Hill, but I hate, hate, HATE Peggy Hill. She's such a moron! How could Hank stand marrying her!?

Hi Endless Nameless: I have watched Futurama sometimes and for a reason I can't understand is not as interesting as The Simpsons. Probably because the plot is not as complex to make you feel excited. ALVARO

Hi cougar town: I agree. Matt Groening is a good producer. Both the Simpsons and Futurama have a good plot but for some reason the Simpsons, being a story about an average family from the USA is more famous and people can feel related to their stories and jokes. ALVARO

When I watch futurama (I like this cartoon) its seems Im seeing the simpson. they show a totaly different story, but I think that the bases of this has something about the simpson. Of course, the same producer made both.

Hi. starsailover. I don't like the way that the kids on South Park act. They are really nasty when they talk. They don't have any respect for other people at all. This is not a good cartoon to watch especially when there are kids that are under aged that are present.

Hi cream: You are right. But the worst part is that I've seen in my country that some kids in the local schools act exactly the same as they watch on South Park. Because for them it's fun so they don't understand what they are becoming because of these cartoons. ALVARO

Haha, Peter is kind of annoying.. In an over-the-top kind of way. I was never into those 'violent'-type cartoons like the one with the Coyote that always got hit by the Acme thing (I seriously cannot rmeember what this show was called! It was so long ago!) and also I did not like Ren & Stimpy for the same reason, I remember, as I was growing up. Those are 'kids' cartoons though whereas I feel like Family Guy is more of an adult tv show (I should hope so, anyway, with all that adult-esque humor and what not). Anyway, good discussion!

Hi maezee: I thin you are talking about Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. When I watch it I feel sorry for the Coyote. I mean, he was hungry, I wish he could eat the Road Runner, at least once on the show . I don't like the Ren & Stimpy show either because there are so many disgusting acts performed on the show and I don't like the way this cartoon has been drawn. Some of the cartoons look pretty bizarre. ALVARO

Ye, he would not make a good role model for parenting and will be liked by most children who are abused by their relatives. It is punished and modern people like yourself would not like and it is no surprise for me to hear you said that.

Hi jak: Well I don't think it's a problem of modernity. Basically a man that hit his daughter, cheat on her wife, never listen to anyone, act like a child is selfish, kills animals is rude, insul other persons, sometime he has bening portrayed as a racist and xenophobic is not a good role model for anyone. Cartoons I hated were anything Disney. They were the lamest cartoons to me. I was a major fan of Warner Brothers Looney Toons. Bugs Bunny was the best, along with the rest of the crew. But I can't stand Mickey Mouse and all those boring annoying Disney cartoons.

Hi inertia: Looney Toons are far better cartoons than Disney ones. I have to say that Disney's cartoons are more little child (1-5 years old) oriented. Looney Toons are for kids between 6-13 years old. ALVARO

People often ask me why I like anime better than cartoons. My answer is simple - cartoons are never complex - whether the subject is the plot or the character themselves. But my preference for anime didn't make or grow on me an ultimate hate on the genre - I confess on watching a little bit of Cartoon Network now and then. To answer your question directly - I hate Spongebob Squarepants. I don't know why but the character and his personality just rubs me wrong. Most especially, with his laugh and his companions. Up to this day, I still don't know why my cousins (both adults and youngsters) are screaming at me to watch the show. I don't have the interest to watch a sponge go to his work, deal with his crab boss and an insufferable squid. Not to mention, a starfish best friend. I don't even know why there is a fan base for this and movies too. I won't waste my time watching this and I'm not exactly entertained by this stuff.

Hi jeanne yvonne: I am quite the opposite. I seldom watch anime because you have to keep watching the series chapters to understand what's happening and the story lines are too long while you can watch a Sponegebob squarepants whenever you want and you still understand what the show is about. I find Spongebob really funny. Ok his laugh is annoying but is really fun, seriously. Spongebob is the only reason I watch Nick on these days ALVARO

hi! i've never seen family guy because it was never shown in our side of the planet or if ever it was on cable, i guess it didn't appeal much to me. i enjoy cartoons, even when i was still a kid until now that i have 13 nephews and nieces. an assortment of cartoon shows or animated movies will be on whenever the kids visit us at home. however, i'm not a fan of those cartoons that do not promote good values for kids and i often wonder why most kids here is a fan of mr. bean as well as tom and jerry. i think the 2 cartoon series somehow display characters not worthy of emulating. there isn't even much of a dialogue to work with. tom and jerry often try to outwit each other, each trying to get the better of the other and the other will try to get even. and almost every episode is like that, just different scenarios but the same plot. and they both get an assortment of bumps, wounds and what else. they play on each other. and people/kids actually found this funny and enjoyable... i don't understand. and mr. bean simply isn't a nice person. he may not be as mean or as evil as how you describe peter griffin in family guy or as stupid as homer simpson plays his character. he just isn't nice. and he rarely speaks. there. i said it. i guess i needed to say it also. hehe have a happy weekend!

Hi myles narvaez: I have asked myself the same. Even if Tom and Jerry is a classic cartoon there's a lot of violence on each episode and they all have the same plot. I don't find Mr. Bean funny either. @Mimi Pr game freak: I used to love watching The Simpsons but I think Mr. Groening is not as creative as he used to be. ALVARO

I don't like The Simpson's. I really don't get how people can love that cartoon show. I never really liked them even when I was a kid since that show is on since the 90's. I also don't even think that cartoon show is even funny. At least Family Guy is funny even though they repeat most of the same episodes over and over again. I have tried watching The Simpson's, but I just end up changing the channel. Other cartoons I don't like is South Park and King of The Hill. They aren't funny and interesting to me.

I never like South Park, Family Guy and most cartoons nowadays. Those things promote hate and could even change the minds of the society. It is true that people, especially children, tend to laugh at it, find it funny and so on. However, it just adds to the bad effect in society by portraying dads like Peter Griffin or babies as Stewie. I really miss the past cartoons like Dexter's Lab, PPG, Courage the cowardly dog and the others. Nowadays, I'm more into Anime. Even though I know it also promotes bad effect, it still has this moral lesson embedded in it if you watch it carefully. Animes = most are fictional. South Park or Family Guy = these are real-life type of cartoons, which means it should practice more good actions than evil.

Hi mister mr: Just by looking at your avatar I knew you must love anime . I think you have a good point in here. And I love watching Dexter Lab when I was a kid. I agree with you on Peter but now if you watch it Stewie's role is not being evil. He is now the "gay character of the show" ALVARO

Peter Griffin is a basic character of nature. Simple and simple-minded, he is somewhat lovable in that, despite what you say about him being evil, he doesn't actually think hard enough to be evil. It would be like calling a tornado evil. Now, Stewie, on the other hand, is a character of evil intent! Family Guy has enough going for it that it works for me, despite not having a rat as a main character. What I hate are cartoons that repetitively numb the brain and have characters that do not have to face consequences. Fortunately I cannot name one right now because I usually turn off a show if it seems to be leaning that way. Just pick any show that has kids getting away with everything.

I am sorry Balthasar The Rat but I have to disagree with you. He is stupid but he is also an evil character. Animals are not as intelligent as human beings but they protect their children. In the case of Peter, he hates his own daughter. I mean, Meg is annoying sometimes but it's his daughter. He has even shoot Meg because he wante to do it. And everytime she says something he inmediatly ask her to shut up. If that's not evil I don't know what can we call evil. And well, Stewie used to be an evil character but now his role has changed and now he is the "gay character" ALVARO

Hi Star, I enjoy watching cartoons a lot. I loved 101 Dalmations. I hated Cruella a lot. She spends all her time trying to catch the Dalamations to make a fur coat out of them. i hate her hair too which is black in one side and white in the other. Its always great to see how the Dalmations trick her off. Cruella is one evil and cruel cartoon woman.
