Where does bible came from?

Bible has many versions and has different interpretations. I do not know where it came from. My mother told me that it came from the first Christian and they're the one who wrote it , but when I read some of the sumerian text from ancient astronaut theory on the internet, I read some of the text that was the same as the bible. Is it a coincidence? Or they're hiding something which they do not want to reveal?

A bible as described by wikipedia is a collection of books. The free dictionary states that a bible is a book that is considered authoritative in the field it was written about. Hence you will find books with bible in their titles like The Bible of French Cooking, the Leiths Cookery Bible and The Silver Spoon, otherwise known as the Bible of Authentic Italian Cooking. (http://journal.homecookingrocks.com/an-early-mothers-day-gift/) Merriam Webster described the ORIGIN of the BIBLE as: "Middle English, from Old French, from Medieval Latin - 'biblia', from Greek, plural of 'biblion' book, diminutive of 'byblos' papyrus, book, from 'Byblos', ancient Phoenician city from which papyrus was exported First Known Use: 14th century" (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bible - This link has further links to other resources where you could read more and find out more about it.) But if you are referring to The Holy Bible, the Sacred Scriptures - it is the collection of books successively written as accounts of the people who lived along the time-line before and after the birth of the Saviour Jesus Christ, known to the Christian World and whom the Holy Bible refers to as the Messiah. The Bible as we all know today was a product of the years of toil and intensive efforts of great historians as the Bible Scholars who with the Guidance of the Holy Spirit (or actually what the religious call as "Inspiration of God"), translated the Holy Scrolls. The original Bible was written in three languages namely, the Ancient or Bible Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. The Series of events that were stated in the entirety of the Holy Scriptures involved thousands of years. About 5-7 centuries before Christ, the Language used by the people was mainly Hebrew. As humanity evolved, language evolved too. It was said that around the time of Jesus, the main language was Imperial Aramaic and this is the language that He spoke. This second language was used from about 700-500 B.C. to around 700 A.D. and it is said that the entire NEW TESTAMENT was written in this language. However, the first ever translations made were in Greek or what is called the "Septuagint" and from these transcriptions English translations were derived. (see: http://www.goarch.org.ourfaith/ourfaith7068) In the past, the church do not allow the lay people to read or touch the Holy Bible, restricting it for the use of priests only, not just because it is a sacred book but it actually contains phrases and verses that people may not be able to understand and interpret correctly. But the growing antagonism of a certain few against the church and its teachings made that sound ambiguous, even gathering and enjoining people to believe what they actually believe or purport to be true, creating havoc and confusion to many. Now, even as the church allows the faithful to own and read the bible, still there are those who . Several versions of the Bible came to be when people began to question the veracity of the written word. There were those who gave different meanings to words written and view the transcripts as controversial and debatable and therefore these people who agreed otherwise, contradictorily to what was originally transcribed, created their own versions in their own interpretations. The dogma of their own convictions and beliefs are stated in those versions. This is the same reason why there exist Protestants and from these, a lot of other different religions were born. If you are aware of the game, pass the message where a simple sentence of 5 words could become paragraphs of complications when passed through a hundred people with differing views, this is exactly how the message in the Bible came about to different people with different views. The Holy Bible was written to make known to men the true and only living God. It is also a living testament of what was life before and how people lived during those times and how our Messiah came and lived with mankind -- His triumphs and sufferings to save us all. It is called the "Greatest Monument of all time". I am not a historian nor am I a Bible scholar but I read the Bible and believe that there is only One True God. I don't and won't argue with your faith and belief as yours is as sacred as mine. We humans were given by the one and only true God the intellect, the free will and the right to chose what ever we believe is true whether we are the faithful, Christians and believers and even the atheists or non-believers.

The Bible is a collection of 66 little books written by about 40 different writers. It was originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Since it was written in ancient languages, it has been translated into our modern languages. There are different versions because there were different translators. This is what the Bible itself says: 2 Timothy 3:16 New International Reader's Version (NIRV)6 God has breathed life into all of Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right. Can it be corrupted? Psalm 12:6-8 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) 6Sayings of Jehovah [are] pure sayings; Silver tried in a furnace of earth refined sevenfold. 7Thou, O Jehovah, dost preserve them, Thou keepest us from this generation to the age. 8Around the wicked walk continually, According as vileness is exalted by sons of men! Pick up any translation and read for yourself. Forget what anyone else says about it. Read it for yourself and make your own conclusion.

Hi mantis36! Here is my take on it. If there is a God then we cannot win in a fight with him. We cannot corrupt his word without him allowing it. If he allows it then it means that we can still find the truth. We might to just do a bit more work. And that's what he wants us to do. Read this passage carefully and try to corrupt the message: Matthew 22:34-40 Today's New International Version (TNIV) 34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Take any other translation and see that the message is all the same. Find the religion that practices this and you have found God's people. It is as simple as that!

People. It's pretty much just stories that people have written over the years. It can be seen as fictional history. People wrote the Bible to explain their history and to pass down stories that were told to them over the years. It's like the Prose Edda or The Iliad or The Odyssey, or any other mythological book that is out there. To me, Christianity is a like a modern day mythology. The only difference is one is monotheistic and the others were polytheistic. People are told to believe in one God, instead of multiple gods, and people are told to believe the stories of the Bible instead of the ones that have been passed down through plain oral tradition and then written manuscripts. The Bible is just like any other book really. There is no mystery to it. You can take it literally (and sadly, some people do this), or you can take it as modern day historical fiction literature. It's all up to you.

how can you discover why you are here if the solution is to read the bible since all the content inside the bible is only written by man in the old drawing board, no specific evidence to support that those 40 men are inspired by holy spirit and God.... how about Koran? it is also inspired by God too.... and wait, even Koran is still no solid evidence to support that it is also written by God too....

You are comparing apples and oranges...The christian text has nothing to do with the Torah. The christians wrote their own version of a bible and their own gods. The Torah is the story of the Jewish people struggling with the concept of monotheism which is the belief in One Supreme God. The Torah tells of their failings and successes. The Sumerians have many beliefs of the beginnings of creation that coincide with the stories in the Torah. Many ancient peoples have similar stories.. That does not mean that aliens put us here or procreated with us.

Adoniah, The first five books of the Christian Bible are the same as the Torah. The rest of the books of the Old Testament are considered scripture by most Jews. Christians only have one God! mantis36, where did you get your information about aliens?

Science is also another kind of God's bible.... Science is there because of God..... even the dress and clothes that we are wearing are all the product of Science and not bible...

that is the reasons why i don't believe in BIBLE because it has many versions, it simply means that God's instructions are also changeable too, i also don't believe that it is inspired in the making of bible with those Holy Spirit because it has no solid evidence to support such claims.... if it does inspired with the holy spirit, it should never be many versions.... for i know that God will speak only once, it will not change, it doesn't contains plenty of versions.... Bible of Roman Catholics Bible of Catholics but not Roman Bible of Jehovah's Witnesses Bible of Mormon Bible of hehehehe, to many versions of bibles..... as i know, God will not allow religious faith people to select if who's bible is the genuine type of bible and who's bible is a china-made bible or a scam bible....

What do you think that Catholics were? The Roman Catholic Church has forever and will always be the Roman Catholic Church because it originated in Roman, and before the Roman Catholic Church came about, the Orthodox Church came before that. Do your research, Graptopetalum.

Is there a Bible for Catholics but not Roman? I thought all Catholics were Roman. I suppose there are Aglo-Catholics but they're officially Church of England but follow Catholic traditions. The Catholic Bible includes the apocrypha, several books not in protestant Bibles. As for the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons, they're heretics and there version of the Bible have been distorted to fit their teachings.

because here in our Country the Philippines, people here are very religious.... most of the Roman Catholics here are very religious and has an extremely Faith to God but plenty of superstitious beliefs also that they follow..... therefore, the Faith is not strong because of Superstitious believers.... Many of the Catholics here they claim that they are also Catholics but not Roman, meaning, they are not under Pope of the Vatican... that's why i called them Catholics but not Roman.... they are not the only religion that Catholics but not Roman but, they are plenty of Christian Religions here who are not Roman also..... especially the Albularyo, who conducts prayers also like a priest, and Superstitious believers too....

Introvert shy the history of the bible is a cousre od study all too itself. First most everything is slanted to project a certain view. But there somethings we know to be true. The first patriach to be listed in the bible was Abraham. abraham came along after the pyramids were already old. There have been many who have believed in the christianity origin story like half of the founding fathers. Many things can not be adequately proven as to how they came about. The Naszra lines in Peru , The Ciity of the Gods in Peru, The ancient pyramids in Eygpt and in middle africa. There too many mysteries of life to say we have all the evidence and answers. Im sorry your mother is not giving you all the information. Either she does not know it or is delibertly not divulging it.

The Bible was written by the people in the olden times who were guided by the Holy spirit. As what I know, the original words of the Bible were written in Hebrew, and since not all people in the world can speak and understand Hebrew, the Bible was interpreted into different languages so that all people can understand it in their own language. Take note that not all translations are all the same from the original.

therefore, to make it more near accurate.... Our bible it should be Hebrew, no need to transfer.... just learn Hebrew in order to understand the bible... because if you transfer it, an error occurs, that for every 1 error produces equals 1 religion like for example: in English: Home while in Filipino it's Bahay in English: House while in Filipino it's Bahay same as: Boslot compare to Losbot where the two dialects means "Hole" hehehehe note: we don't care whether every person is different in understanding and in mind, as long as the source Bible that's Hebrew, i think the error will be minimized..... the most important is, that the source (bible in Hebrew) is only one....

The bible came from God but was penned by a number of men over many years. It is divided into two parts, the old testament and the new testament. Since we live in the Christian dispensation, we fall under the new testament, Matthew through Revelations. Study of the old testament is helpful to understand some passages in the New testament. The King James translation is one of the most reliable available. The New King James version is easier for us to understand, as most of the difficult words and phrases of King James's time have been put into more contemporary English. Nothing has been hidden that man needs to knmow for our salvation.

The Bible is a written word of God which was written by old testament authors and new testament authors The Old testament was written by the ancestors of Adam and eve From the Genesis then Moses entered into world showing the way as a prophet which was chosen by God There are many more authors in Old testament who wrote Bible and together the Old testament was created. The New testament is created by the disciples of Jesus which Jesus showed them the truth and the way of life and according to their testimonies and experience with Jesus the New testament was created and also after the resurrection of Jesus Paul Stephen saints were involved in writing of the testimonies and teachings so this was how bible was created.

Did Adam and Eve have any ancestors? Adam was the first man and Eve was the first woman who was created from one of Adam's ribs. I suppose you could go into arguments about how literal that was. I think you just meant "descendents" rather than "ancestors".

nobody really know the answer about this Bible claiming? therefore, it is a SOLID MYTH.... this is the reason why not only Cain in the bible is a Myth.... but majority of the content of the Bible is all Myth, meaning... subjected to be proven, and yet, no one can prove it.... if no one can prove it.... even if you have the greatest FAITH to your God, still you can't prove it.... therefore... it is still considered as a Myth, the content inside the bible.... it is only written by 40 men myth men before times.... but there is nothing wrong with it.. why? because bible does do more good to mankind than bad.... bible makes humans to think plenty of times before committing any sins.... imagine the world without bible, as humans nature is a carnivorous attitude... men invented bible for the people to put inplant in their brains "LOVE" in order not to do bad... as long as nobody knows where did Cain get his wife? it will only remains as a myth.... unlike Science... they discover that there are only 4 planets (mercury, venus, earth, and mars) Galileo Planets soon, Science discover again that not only 4 planets but 9 planets.. from (mercury up to pluto) later, Science discover again that Pluto is not a planet at all... therefore, from (mercury and up to neptune only) at least.... SCIENCE has an explanations to it and has a latest solid evidence to support although (not-finalize) at least there is.... unlike.... BIBLE is only a myth, most content is a myth, even "Where did Cain get his Wife" cannot be answer by bible, it simply means "Myth"

According to me Jesus was a good teacher who taught many good things to the Hebrews. After his crucification it is said that a group of saints who were his followers got him back to life through bible. They must have wrote Bible from areas around Jerusalem and then they went on to spread the word around the world. Bible is a good spiritual and religious holy book, but back in those times Bible was used to create a strong community and in religious politics.
