ONE YEAR: is it enough to ASSESS PNOY?

Philippines

Do you really think One year is enough to assess his administration? Isn't it too short to accomplish a lot? We can't deny the fact that this country needs a lot of improvements, betterment and development. And I hear a lot of views, rating Pnoy so low, or even failing "grades" as an evaluation to his administration. The reason for a very low rating? "that he haven't accomplished much yet" well, it's a lot to accomplish in a year. I am not a fan, a supporter in any way of Pnoy, but I do respect him as a President. And we can't keep on assessing his administration every now and then. And I do believe he is doing his best to manage this country. WE do have a lot of issues to deal with in this country, and we can't just put everything on him. By doing our part, I guess we could build a better Philippines, not putting all our hopes in one person for a better country. I am hopeful for a greater and better Philippines, but I am not putting all those hopes in the President alone. I am putting my hope in each and every one of us. That we could improve even just a simple act of conforming and abiding to a the very basic rule of TRAFFIC. I hope people of the Philippines will stop complaining and start working out to help this country. Any views lotters?

I don't think one year is enough to judge any presidents if they are good or not. WE still have 5 years to go. WE suffered for too long in the hands of the former president and i believe we can still endure a little longer and give the new president a chance to prove himself. I believe that we should not rely everything on him alone as we, as citizens of our own country must do our part as well. Let us all unite and in our own little way contribute to a better country.

That is what I am pointing out my friend. Thing is it's always easy to complain than to do our role. No wonder why we got a lot of complaints than actions from the common TAO. People tend to think that everything should be done by the leaders they've chosen. When in fact they have a role to play. And they have their responsibilities to fulfill. But they forget about their responsibilities, and focus on criticizing almost every decision or action the President would make. Our problem is not just "corruption" it's also in our "reaction"...

Yes! Most of our countrymen are like this. They're only good at finding other's people fault but they cannot see their own. Sometimes i find it funny when people complain that we should change our public officials but they didn't even exercise their right to suffrage! The first thing that a concerned citizen do to help our country is to vote for whom they believe is capable enough to lead our country.

For some, a year is enough to know and judge a person. For some, it takes a lifetime and there is still a need to get to know someone deeper. In the case of our president, he is constantly being assessed becuase it's like a testing point - we like to see how much he has done, how much willing he is going, what his achievements so far and how thick his skin is. Having an assessment is not exactly a method of criticism, especially if the person expected to perform does even a miniature of what he promises to do. I am one of those believers that opt to assess and re-assess the President. Why? He needs to be constantly aware why he is there on his post. We needs to be reminded on his promises. He is in the position of power and he has the ability and resources to do practically everything. But if he himself messes up, we the public are greatly affected by default. I know he needs time and the public isn't exactly the patient mistress. But he knew that (or somebody should remind him) when he decided to run almost a year ago. We can sure help but should you ask the question which one in our public is willing to do just that?

I do believe that we have to remind him why he got there in the first place. And what he's supposed to be doing. But I must beg to disagree that he basically can't do everything. Why? For the mere reason that we have our regulators. We even have oppositions always at watch. Plus, the administration should work as a team, everyone who's seated in a public seat is part of the team. So they should all work together, and should we. My point here is, we while we keep reminding Pnoy about His responsibilities, we should also be reminded that we have a role to play.

I didn't say or meant to imply that he can do everything literally (lucky if he does). I'm just saying that he is in a privileged position and most of the critique or any from of feedback will be attributed to him, no matter which of the underlings screwed or do the job well. It's a social and organizational hierarchy practice. It's like complaining regarding a product, we always the guy who has the top position because he's supposed to be in control. Besides, it's the opposition's job to monitor all the administration's activities and to react comment on what they think this is wrong. However, I don't know and cannot be sure if they are commenting or opposing based on party bias or the virtue of giving constructive criticism. I ask again the question in original response: Who is willing to cross party lines and lay down their vested interests in order to work together? If you can name me a few politicians who could do that, I will be impressed. It's a political and human thing to put personal interests first and sometimes, we cannot blame people who will do that.

Hello chuyins, To be honest, am tired of looking at him, checking on his performance and even his love life. i get tired of hearing negative reports about him. most specially am tired of our people who never stop complaining when majority of these people voted for him in the first place. if they think there's a quick solution they should have done it themselves.. I just want to hear good news no matter how small it is.

I do. Get tired. Of complaints. And sometimes, instead of watching news on TV, I will just play a DVD and watch movies. Coz, I get the same bad news, bad reviews, bad comments, complaints, etc etc. You're right no matter how small a good news is, it's better.

One year is not enough, hello, can anyone easily redirect a country that has been long addicted to corruptions? Pnoy is doing fine although I am not giving him a high grade. He is doing fine and his people are also doing fine. Now, we have a president that we have respect, and this is a good start for all of us to trust him and give him all the supports he need.

That's what I am talking about. It's getting a lot harder for him because no one cares to shout their appreciation with Pnoy, but a lot shout about their criticisms. It will just pull him down. I still think he's doing good. thanks for dropping by.

I totally agree with you chuyins. Some people could really be so judgmental and critical. Not that i am a P-Noy fan too, but i do hope we should still give him more time in order to be able to solve the problems that still haunts us from the previous administration's doing. For me, one year is not enough to assess him as that yet. Let's just all work together in making Philippines a better place to live. Stop complaining but do your share of improvement with regards our present problems.

Well, it's just an assessment. Think of it as a progress report. You're assessing his performance for the first year of his term. It's logical and it's sound. It's like your first quarterly exam when you were in high school. By doing this, we would know where our country is headed, down the drain or back on track.

I agee with you. I am actually irritated with some groups who criticize Pnoy as if they've done more for the country than him. All they do is complain and criticize. It's only been a year, of course not much has happened YET. I believe that we should all be proactive rather "reactive". We are all Filipinos and we all should do our part in making a better country for ourselves. It seems that more and more Filipinos are in the habit of complaining. That kind of negativity will not help. We should focus more on where we are now and what the administration has accomplished, SO FAR. Pnoy may not be the best president, but there are a lot worse persons to fill up the position than him.

True rakittera. We should have a paradigm shift. Looking things on the positive side. A lot of people focus on complaining, "taking actions against" instead of "taking actions for". I am glad there are people like you who thinks the same as I do. I often tell my friends, "the Philippines would be a lot better, if Filipinos would at least know how to follow the simple law of traffic"... What do I mean? That even in the little ways we do for the country, it's helping. Little by little, we'll get better. Progress is best achieved gradually, not abruptly. isn't it? Thanks rakittera, see ya around.

one year is enough to prove if he have something what it takes to be a president. but as what i observe he haven't done incredibly shocking in the Philippines. but the thing is my words have no power he is just suppressing him self from the negative feedback of the Filipino people.
