Do You Always Give True Information?

Philippines
July 6, 2011 9:51pm CST
We join a lot of sites at the internet specially if we have been using the internet for a long time already. I cannot even count how many sites I have joined already. Well, my question is when signing up for sites, do you always give the right information like your real name, real address, everything real? Before, I must say, this is what I do. I put what is the truth. But now, realizing that there may be some consequences of every action I take, I decided to cut it down. Unless I know the site is trustworthy, I would not sign up. Also, I don't put my entire complete address anymore. But I don't lie about my details. I just try to minimize the information I share. How about you guys?

I give my real and complete information only to my payment processor PayPal. To other sites, I give real but limited information. It's always safe to put limits on everything. Just so we can avoid unpleasant circumstances or consequences.

I think you have said it well. It is always safe to put limits on everything. It then exposes us to limited risks.

Hi! Oh dear... they say honesty is the best policy but that would be so if both sides are honest, right? I also joined a lot of sites before and I give real information and guess what, my Spam folder is full everyday with 50+ messages Let's just all be careful in sites we join to.

I don't often give out my real information to all the sites that I join in. It actually depends on the site or reason for my joining in the site. For one thing, I need to give out my real information for paypal (after joining MyLot) since they are going to need those information for them to transfer my earnings from this site. If I opted not to use my real information for my paypal account, there would be problems when I have to transfer funds. On the other hand, sites which I just need for downloading something that I need once (drivers, photos, etc.) I usually have a pseudo account for those. I don't think it's safe to really divulge all the information about ourselves online since we are susceptible to a lot of crimes like identity theft since the world wide web is open 24/7 and available to anyone in the world. The topic somehow reminds me of a foolish thing that a friend did. She actually posted her passport and driver's license online in Facebook. I know that they claim to be secure but there are security issues everywhere, right? A lot of our common friends and her friends told her to take it down and I think she only took it down after several weeks. Who knows who had gotten into those, it will not be something new if I would hear one day that her identity was taken by someone because of her foolishness. Have a great MyLot experience today and keep safe!

Yeah, nothing is really safe in the internet. I think what your friend did is really foolish. Someone might make a fake passport and use her info, right? We all need to be careful to survive in the internet world.. Anyways, let's all be happy and always careful!

I was on AOL for several years when I first went online. I had trouble with hackers ALOT. Until I left AOL I kept a false persona, my alter ego as it were. I even have both names on Facebook incase people are looking for that were on AOL. I kept that alter ego for along time. It was a name I would have liked to have changed mine to anyway.

Hi! LOL.. So you're using the name you dreamed you were given.. I think that's fun and.. fine..? Okay, it's great to be careful. I actually think it would be a lot better to have absolutely to right information in the internet, but sometimes it can't be. So let's just all be careful!

hello Banny, When I joined sites that requires true information for payment purposes I always give my true details. As long as it won't asks any account number, like credit card or bank account. Same here in mylot,we need to disclose every information that this site asks us. But of course,we must be careful when signing up with many sites.

Hi! Yeah, I hate it also when I need to provide such informations.. I think that's why PayPal is there. So we don't need to provide such details. And we need to take extra care when joining sites and giving our info.. being suspicious is not a sin in this area..

Like you, I don't give out so much information online. If I can skip filling the information, I would. But if I can't skip it, I would not join the site...

Hello! Yes, the less information one must provide, the less one must provide. Some people give too much even if the site does not require it, and I find that not good at all. Anyways, thanks! See ya around!

It really depends on the site in whether or not I'll give the truth of my true identity because I don't want to get a bunch of email in my inbox or junk mail but the sites that I order things from, I do give all of my information so that my order will make it to my home. Now for friends on the internet, I am very truthful that it's gotten me into trouble a few times. In other words, I've said things that came out the wrong way and it's gotten a few feathers ruffled till I explain what I meant. Sometimes it smooths things over and sometimes it doesn't. I say this, this is me, like me or not, this is me. I'm true and real until I'm crossed.

Hiii! Oh yeah, when it's about buying sites, I do give real and complete info.. I don't want my orders go to others' houses... And yes, need to do some research about sites to make sure they're not scammers.. Have a nice day ahead!

Usually I will research a site first to make sure there are no pre signs of illegitimacy. Though there are no guarantees even with the research, what I do is apply as minimal information that I need to place upon signing up. It will be truthful information but very minimal and only what is required for the sign up. If payment information is not requested upon sign up, I hold off, until I am sure I can cash out and or find further detail about the site.

Hi! Yes, yes. Research.. That's what most people forget to do before signing up to any site specially those who have just begun their journey earning online. And yes again! Give truthful information, but don't provide everything..

Hi guys.. Oh yeah count me on those people.. I've been scammed by one site before. I had to pay $40. Anyways, at least it happened just once. Now I'm being really really careful about joining sites, and if there's an upfront fee, I'd leave that site right away!

You are right. You can restrict giving information in websites. But when it comes to earning they will require your full address and there u may have to give it correctly. good day.

Hello Bannybanzie, i usually give the true information while registering on various sites. But i give information which is mandatory to register other informations normally i skip.I always hesitate to give phone number now to any site because i already have experiencing the effects of giving it to some site as they use your number like to promote their products every day i get countesses SMSs from different companies in which they just ask to buy their product.I would suggest all to never give their phone numbers to any site while registering on that site by my experience.

Hi! Same as you. If an information is not necessarily needed, I would not give it. About the phone, well I've never experienced such, at least yet.

Hi! Yes, it would always be better to just join useful and known great sites. That way, we are better assured that where we are putting ourselves in is not something dangerous.

For the most part I give real information, just maybe not all of it. Of course when I signed up for Mylot I did not know that there were ways people could take advantage of you from your profile information. Now I do not give out so much, so freely.

Hi! Yes, yes, yes! We give real info but we don't provide too much info.. Prevent is better than cure. So it's better if we prevent ourselves getting into trouble than trying to solve it once we are already in and regret, right? Thanks!

hi,its really a TIMELY AND USEFUL DISCUSSION..WHERE MANY OF US NOT GIVING TRUE INFORMATION as they may misutilize our info especially bank details..mail id.s..so it is better not to give true info except in the case of paypal/alertpay...because they have to credit our earnings properly.. all the best and have a nice time.

hello BB, I can't remember a site that asked my full address they just asked which country I am from but if ever I will encounter this I will not give my full address it's kind a risky. But I always give my name actually my nick name happy mylotting
• Philippines
7 Jul 11
Hi! Well most of the sites I've encountered ask like Street Address, City, Town, State, Country. Yes, it's really risky I think. That's why I'm trying to avoid saying all the details. With the name, I'm using my real name... But I'll try your technique next time.

If it is a trusted site I do. I always do as much research as I can on a site before joining. The only thing I am leery about is giving out my s.s.n.
• Philippines
7 Jul 11
Hi! That's good and I think everyone should know that. Do research about the site.. Don't trust it immediately just because it says it is trustworthy. Is there a thief who would tell you hey I'm a thief..? Thanks and let's all be careful!

Hi! So what you do is give true info then hide it. That's good also. Though I would suggest be careful on how much you share.
