I don't have a cell phone yet, the reason is that I have a house phone and that's good enough for me. I don't need to talk or text on the phone while I'm driving or sitting on the bus. I'm gonna get 1 just for emergencies ...everybody is telling me I need to ,since I leave my house early in the mornings when it's still dark or sometimes my bus doesn't show up and so instead of digging for change for the pay phone I have a cell to call work. Are you lost without your cell phone?

Hi missybear, I don't think cell phone is a necessity to everyone. It's a must to those who really rely on cell phone only. So it's okay for you not to own one, as your house phone is just nice to serve its purpose for you. Moreover it's risky to talk or text on cell phone while driving car I posses an economic cell phone which doesn't have so many advanced features as well as function. As it's only a communication device for me to keep close contact with my son who works in another state. I'm often away from home and I don't want to miss the chance to keep in touch with my kid. And my siblings can contact me at anytime if they need urgent help, therefore my cellphone is always along with me Happy posting

I mostly wear jeans and tshirt and don't have the habit carrying handbag. Handbag seems like a burden to me I'm quite careless as well and there's at several times my handbag was left there after I had moved on account of my absent minded Anyway it's always safer to leave it in my jeans pocket

I wouldn't really know where to put it either since I don't carry a purse except for when I go to work.

Yep, I guess I'll also be lost without my cellphone. First, I use it to communicate with important people such as my family and my boss. I don't wanna lose my job just because of carelessness that's why I take care of my cellphone all the time.

Once I'm home I don't even bother to answer my phone, especially if it's a call from work.

I didn't have one for a long time. Even my mother had one before me! I don't go out of the house very much, and didn't feel I needed it. I also couldn't afford one. The only reason I got one is because it is free! I got one from Safelink and it was free to low income people. It is that you only get so many minutes a month. That is fine with me because I hardly ever use it. If something goes wrong with it, I will be fine without it. I know some people are addicted to it, and they have phones that do everything now. Mine does some things, but I just use it for calls.

Hi missy! I will feel a bit lost...I know that when we are always with it we will more rely to it. Even if I am not using my cellphone much but I will always have them everywhere I go. But if I forgot to bring them I will not go back home just to take my cellphone and bring it along..I missed the day when I don't have one.(^^)

It's all right to carry one but you don't have to use it 27-7.

I am almost 18 and I still don't have a handphone. My friends at my school keep nagging me to buy a handphone. I asked my mother to buy me a handphone but she replied "what for? You are just a student and not working!" Guess I have to wait until I work to get my first handphone

Where I live, we actually have NO coverage...we are part of the 3% who don't have coverage in Australia. That is so pathetic. I have a mobile phone for emergencies because I am a volunteer driver. The phone has paid for itself a couple of times over. It usually sits in my bag, forgotten till I check to see if it has power before doing a trip. It was the cheapest phone I could get, it's basic, which is all I need and my calls are pre paid. So, I'm not "lost without it", because I don't need it most of the time but it has been a life saver.

You don't? You're worse than my mom! LOL And here I thought she was behind in the times! It took her a while to get one too...although she's had one for a few years now. So, do you know what kind you're going to get? And are you going to get one with a contract or will it be a prepaid phone? I think everyone should have a cell phone...especially if they leave the house or don't have a home phone. Because you never know it will be needed...although it should never be used while driving, at least not without using a bluetooth anyway. Texting while driving is a big no-no as well. I'm pretty sure it's even illegal in some states. By the way, I wouldn't say that I'm lost without mine. But it sure does come in handy! Happy mylotting!

I checked out Walmart and they have track phones for as little as $10 or $20 with a camera even. That's what I probably do and then buy the minutes. My mom has one too but she never used it yet.

I like having my cell phone for emergencies but would prefer to have a land line for everyday use. My husband is a huge technology geek and HAS to have to newest, fastest, bestest of every electronic gadget out there and thinks that I should have the same. He cannot understand why I wanted a cell phone that was ONLY a cell phone, not one that can play games, take photos, get on the internet, do the laundry, etc. I just want a PHONE! I actually went backwards with my last phone. I had to insist that I have a simpler phone because I would miss calls trying to figure out how to answer it! Give me simple any time. One of these days, I'm going to get that land line and also keep a cell phone but it will be the cheapest plan out there, only to be used in case of emergency when I'm driving or out shopping and alone.

I am completely opposite, in my household we all have cell phones, however we don't have a landline. I personally prefer cell phones, reason being because I am sometimes a lone with my children and having a cell phone is imperative for my safety and my kids, that is why we made the decision of disconnecting the landline at my home, there was not point in induring the cost, if most of the time we were utilizing the cell phones.

hi dear missybear if the relationship between my husband and me hadnt started out as a long distance relationship I would not have a cellphone either. I got it so we could text each other when one of us was on the road resp. the train so the other would know how the journey works out. Its convenient but when I am at home like now for the weekend the cellphone stays OFF for sure.

still use the cell when I am commuting to and from work as my husband picks me up at the station so he wont have to wait too long, usually I know when and how much the train delays are hitting again so he knows in advance.

I don't think if I can go on with my day to day activity without a cellphone in me.. Cellphone has many uses for me. Why won't you have one? I think, it has become a necessity nowadays. Hehehehe I use my cellphone to communicate to anyone who are dear to me.. My family, my boyfriend, (to monitor him.. hehehe), my office mates and my friends. :) I carry my phone every time I go out of the house. :)

You serious...? I mean how come you are living without a cell phone. It's such important thing in everybody's life. Almost 90 to 95% work is been done through cell phone. It's such a entertaining product. It's good that you have a house phone but it will be better to have a cell phone too. As you said, for emergencies you are gonna get 1. So whatever may be the reason right now. Take it and in no time you are gonna b addicted to it.

I have a free cell phone and as a senior I get 30 or 40 free monthly minutes. It is an absolutely plain functional phone, no frills so it is only a phone. I keep it strictly for emergencies. I have not given the number out to any of my friends as I do not want anyone calling me. I have a perfectly good house phone that I use for all my friends and phone call needs. So to answer your question NO I am not lost without my cell phone.

I'm with you, I don't have a cell phone. I have a home phone thats bundled with my internet, so its only $12 a month (American) and when I'm out, I can call a 1-800 number from a payphone and put in my code number, so that call is charged to my bill, so no need for change. But, something mobile is handy, so I have an itouch. I can get the internet just about anywhere through wifi, and if I need to, get a coffee at a shop and ask for their password, but people have open internet all over the place. Thats really handy because I can keep my notes and schedule on it, plus music and movies, and a bunch of other little things. I much rather have that, then a cell phone.

Well, that's a good decision friend. Because having no cellphone is not a big deal. As you said you have phone in your home. That maybe enough to get connected to your business contacts and other... I have a cellphone but I don't need to text or call anyone. I used only for important matters...

I have a cellphone but i seldom use it when i am at home. Same like you, i feel satisfied as long i have a house phone with internet access. I can chat and surf with my computer. I can call my loved ones with my house phone. I only use my cellphone when i am out from my home. I feel it is very important to bring along my cellphone in case of emergencies, if ever arise. I use a prepaid line, so i don't spend much money into my cellphone.

Not at all. I had a cell phone years ago, until I was twenty. I couldn't go out and relax at a restaurant, park, etc. without getting a call or a text. I didn't believe in texting or talking on the phone in the car, so it was beyond irritating to be driving and hear my phone go off again and again without me being able to silence it. Plus, once I married, I started having to pay for the plan I used, and fifty dollars per month was outrageous for a frugal girl such as myself. I get both home phone and internet for sixty dollars, after all! I haven't owned a cell phone for three years now. Like quitting Facebook, it was a liberating experience. You begin to realize how simple life can be, and how beautiful it is when it reaches that point of simplicity. I can go to a nice dinner with my husband and not have to worry about somebody calling me in the middle of it. I can drive in peace. I can save fifty dollars a month...and put that money in a high interest savings account instead. I know how it is, though, when you have people constantly on you telling you that a cell phone is a necessity. Cell phones weren't necessities for the vast majority of human history, and I get along just fine without one.

I am lost without my cell phone? Not really! Its good to have a cell phone, as it has many advantages if you use it properly. However the use of cell phone should be minimal. I have heard that there are some health related issues which are related with the high usage of cell phone.
