The Chinese government would be putting a kibosh to that by making a rule that they could not opt out of their contract once the lockout ends.

Yes, I just recently read a news regarding the opt out contract for such arrangements. The NBA players want to make sure that they can opt out of contract if ever the NBA settles the bargaining agreement and resumes the season or part of the next season. That is what hinders NBA players as of late in signing in for the Chinese basketball teams. I have read that some superstars too like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul have been considering the options given by some Chinese basketball team. Let's just wait and see what happens.

Yes, I have heard about rumors that there are negotiations between the Lakers' superstar and a Chinese team. The NBA lockout really forces other players to look for elsewhere to play. I think it will be nice too so that the NBA players can be closer to the basketball fanatics outside the US. I would be looking forward for those superstars playing for other teams and see if they can adapt well playing alongside other nations.
