I have heard from my elders that by surfing internet, we got our eye's dim and by time our eye sight is so much low that people start wearing spectacles.

It is not strictly true if you take certain precautions. For more than 10 years i spent more than 10 hours per day using the computer. My eyesight deteriorated after I had a stroke in May this year. Among the things that I did were 1) Kept the eyes at around an arm's length from the monitor. 2) Lowered the brightness level. 3) Wore plain glasses with UV protection. 4) Looked at distant objects at intervals.

I don't think the internet or computers can take the blame alone. I'm sure that it's not good to use the internet for hours without a break, and it's not good to watch TV for the same reason. The images we see are fake, made from moving pixels and our brains have to decipher them. They change multiple times per second and that is not good for our eyes.
