i have some knowledge of spanish and very limited knowledge of japanese but i want to learn them both fluenty! I know spanish enough that i can read it but i cant listen to people talk in spanish they talk faster than i can translate...and everyone that is a japanese freak knows that the japanese talk pretty FREAKIN FAST haha i think that if i learned both of the languages i mentioned above that i would learn 2 more and that would be french and german but that would be it... i dont really have any want to go to china or any other country before i die. Does anyone know any languages and how long did it take you to learn your language fluently? Have you ever been to the country with the language you learned? What is your favorite language of all time? :) Have a wonderful day

I believe it is always good to learn new languages if everything is affordable. My mother is Achik, when I was in primary school I have to read in Bengali medium then I learned Englsih. As the neighboring country's language and by the blessings of satellite I didn't even notice that now I understand the Hindi language. If I get the opportunity I wish to learn Japanese and French.

Hello msrema and cole585. I found that to learn a foreign language it's a very fun and very useful too. I believe that basic knowledge in any language is not so hard to learn. I wish to have more free, spare time to learn more languages too. I started to study English on June 2010, one year ago, more or less, and now I know pretty good to speak, to read, to write and even to explain a little about English. My goal is to be an English teacher. But... I love to study more language too. For example I've started to study a little arabic, german and now japanese. Then I stoped because first of all I want to know very well English. Then, if I'll have more spare time I'll continue to study more languages. I really like to do it. See you, soon! Cata

I wish I would have learned Spanish when I still lived in the Southwest and there were millions of Hispanics around that would be more than glad to practice with me and teach me! But, too late now. One of my myLot friends wanted to learn another language and she posted this link: http://www.busuu.com/ It is free! I am a cheapskate so I save all things that are free or cheap. This looks like a great place to learn a language and I may join it soon. My eldest son is in love with a Mexican girl and her mother doesn't speak English. I really want to learn some Spanish before I go to visit so that we mothers can get to know each other a bit. You're right when you say people talk so fast. I learned some Spanish in High School (way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!) but when our teacher brought in a native speaker as a demonstration we couldn't understand a word, it was so fast! I think it is just practice, practice, practice!

The only language other than English that I know some of is Spanish, and I'm nowhere near fluent in that. I know enough to get by on if I had to visit the country on holiday, but I would love to be able to learn the language properly some day. I always say that when I have finished my degree, the next thing that I am going to do is buy a Spanish DVD and learn the language. Ideally, I would like to move to Spain for a year in order to immerse myself into the language so that I can learn a little bit quicker than I would if I stayed at home.

The best way to learn a foreign language is to be in the country where it is spoken and, at least, take a course in there. But you can learn it in your own country, without needing to travel abroad, if you take lessons at an Institut where that tongue will be tought. It's recommendable to do the complete course. My mother tongue is Spanish, but I can fluently German too. I lived there almost five years and took a couple of courses. If you can read Spanish, you're almost on the goal. Buy a book and dvds to learn the pronunciation with. As in each language, there are in Spanish different accents. But exercising the pronunciation you can improve your understanding.

we are sharing the same hobby. i am always excited to learn a new language.it gives me so much satisfaction to realize that i learn new words every day and more than that, that i understand new words everyday. i am speaking french, english , hebrew but i know some of many other languages, like, for ex, italian and swedish.... i must admit that when i am getting older i have less time to do that but, at least, i try to keep in my memory all the words that i have learnt in the past.

Hi erez98. I think you are great if you know more languages. I hope be able too, to speak more languages. There we need to have more spare time or free time. Now, because of the internet, we can find very fast a lot of comunities where we can talk with native english, japanese, italians, spanish and so on, people. We need to know how to use in a good moods the internet. To learn a language, to comunicate the internet could be very useful. See you soon! Cata

I know very little French. But I would love to learn more, Japanese, Gaelic, Italian. Gosh I would love to learn as many languages as I can. I might look into taking night classes at the local collage to learn some new languages. I think it would benefit me in so many ways.

Yep I too had this same wish but it was never granted!hehehehe At present, I can speak Hindi, English, Urdu. Hindi is my mother tongue so no problem there also Urdu is quite similar to Hindi so I had to learn only the script of it. English took kind of 3/4 years to master it's all four components (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Language that I am concentrating at at this moment is French. I know basics of it but practical knowledge of the language is proving to be very tough to learn. I wish to visit France someday, got many online friends there.:)

I do travel often on my business trips to differnet parts of the world. It is always very interesting to learn about the cultures and traditions of the people in different countries, including the languages spoken. And, indeed, it is very helpful if one can speak the language. With my frequent visits there, I have picked up some basics of Thai language. It is not that difficult to learn, but it takes time to have the right accent, the right tone. That is the difficult part of learning a language.

i dont know really... its just something that i would love to do learning more than 2 languages is my goal and if i reach that i will definetly go for more :) i didnt mean to leave out peoples languages as if they were not important either!!! i just noticed that and im sorry peoples haha your language is just as important as any. i just am more interested in the others but yea i have always loved learning new language its actually fun to do and that makes it easy to learn for me but im glad that you learnt english :) i swear if i was born anywhere where they dont speak it i would never have learned it our language is so stupid haha i mean it just doesnt make sense to me at all when i think about it but when you grow up with it it does i guess btw one of the reasons our language is stupid ( it it) is correct grammar! why do we need both in the same sentance right next to each other! just get rid of one haha o well what was your original language...your home country?

My favorite language, other than English (of course), is Japanese! I'm an anime fan, so there's no question about it. But if there's a second favorite, that would be Korean. Not to be biased on Asian languages, but I just love these.
