Oh, I am really dreading it!!

So, my friend bought me a photo session for my birthday earlier this year. She thought I would have a picture done with my kids and I would have if another friend hadn't have got one blewn up and set on canvas already. So I thought, great, I don't have a picture of myself with my friends. So I have now got around to booking it because the expirey date would be coming near! I am now dreading it because I am not really in a good place. Since the kids have been off school for summer, I have put on weight as I have not been doing the walks to and fro school, my hair looks a mess and I am worried I am going to have a break out!!! I hate having my picture taken at the best of times and see all the bad points of myself in a picture. Do you hate having your picture taken or are you more than happy to pose for the camera?

Humbug don worry my friend, take the picture and smile while taking it, as this will be such a cherishing moment with the kids. Your children, family and friends see you for you and not for what a photo may look like. Keep in mind they love you no matter what. I am one of those who loves to take photographs and pose, pose pose. lol I do have some not so attractive ones that from time to time I look at and say, oh my but the smiles they bring me each time I see them brings joy for me. Get your hair done and smile pretty and allow this moment to be placed in your family history of memories. Remember thee is always more pictures to come and you will continue to smile each time you see them.

Hi ya hardworkinggurl Aww thanks for your kind and wise words. I am not actually having a picture taken with my kids as my other friend got one blown up and put on canvas for me so I am having it done with my friends. One of my friends is very slim and pretty and I am not sure if the other friend will join in but I think it is going to feel bit awkward because it is going to be a posed one and not natural! Thanks again

I actually like getting my picture taken, but only when I'm decent I don't like surprise photos but generally I like taking pictures in fact I often take pictures for fun I'm also considering taking some digital photography classes.

Hey apples99 I took a digital photography class and all they really taught me was how to download pictures, copy them and file them which I already knew so for me it was a waste of time and money. That's not to say all photography classes are the same! Cheers

I am as photogenic as a brick and not as useful! I hate hate hate having photographs taken because they always say "smile" and I can't! Well I can, but not one for the camera. But professional photographers ought to be able to put you at your ease and I have no doubt that the shots will be superb. Enjoy it as much as you can.

Hi ya ANTIQUELADY I hate it when others take pictures of me too especially when I am not expecting it because they are usually the worst ones! Cheers

I also don't like posing for pictures. I prefer the candid shots which can capture real life as it happens. Wouldn't this photo session include re-touches on the positives? Then maybe they can fix any breakouts that you'll have. In any case, good luck! Don't stress out so much, as it might show in the photo!

Hi there bounce58 I have no idea if they touch up the pictures or not but in a way I would rather they didn't because it would keep the picture as natural as it possibley can be. I think I am going to find it quite embarrassing to be honest as I don't really know what I want and when I booked it the photographer told me to think about it as he will be coming to my home! Thanks for your words of comfort

I love having my picture taken, whether i am prepared or not for it. It won't bother me whether i have added some poundage or not. At least, i get to see how i look in those conditions.

Hi there SIMPLYD That's great that you are so super confident, I wish I was just the same. I think it was a lovely gift for my friend to have given me but I kinda think that she doesn't know me as well as she thinks!! Thanks

Well, you can wear clothes that can hide what you want to hide. It's just a matter of appropriate dressing and posing , my friend.

Remember that your dress (color and style) can make a difference in how you look. I have taken many group shots and how you position people can make them all look very attractive. Relax and enjoy the session, I do not like to have my photo taken but having it done by a good photographer made me look good.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Some people can't stand taking pictures, like my mom. She blocks her face with her hand, yells at people, etc. I don't necessarily like getting my picture taken because I don't always look good in pics. I believe some people are just not photogenic, and this doesn't mean that they are ugly, either. But, I also know that every once in a while, when I'm not expecting it or when I take 500 snapshots in a row, I get a really nice pic of myself. And, it's those pics that I hold onto. I would suggest that you don't let your friend's gift go to waste and go ahead and take the pic. The photographer shouldn't stop until you are happy with your photo. Also, even if you have a breakout they don't always show up in photos. My guess is that you will keep making excuses, cuz you don't like taking pics, and never do it. So, just go and have fun with it. Relax and put your best face forward, literally. If you truly can't be satisfied, the pic is yours to do with it what you will.

Hi there jalucia Well I have booked it now and am not going back on it now! I think I want it in black and white so it won't matter what I am wearing either. I hate my double chin more than anything so I won't to figure out a way to hide it, maybe put my hands under my chin or something hahaha Thanks for the lovely response

When I put weight on, I just have a head shot done. They can take the head shot from further away. I posed myself with my hands by my chin, that hides the double chin, lol, and only took it from above the bust up. It turned out good. All you have to do is let your photographer know how you feel, you would be surprised what they can do to make your picture look great. Good luck to you. Hugs

Hi MaryLynn321 Yes I have thought about putting my hands under my chin to hide the ole double chin and having just a head shot. Yes I think the best bet is to tell the photographer what I definately don't want hahaha Thanks
