A pleasant day fellow mylotters, Recently my sister and I are cleaning up some space in our cabinet. As we are trying to dispose some old clothes which are not really possible for us to use it. Since the sizes are already small. While doing the segregation of those, my sister told me, she will gonna give some of them to charity institution. After she have told that, I asked her if she want to sell it to second hand shops which is called "ukay-ukay". Especially the jeans which is still new as it looks. As I have told her, I am planning to sell some of my clothes to that "ukay-ukay" second hand store and some will be given to charity institutions.

Generosity begets generosity. Giving them away to charitable institutions would be a great idea.

If I may add, charity begets charity as well.:-) It's also a great idea to get rid of the things from your cabinet and leave room for new stuff.

Selling your clothes to second hand stores is a great way to get rid of stuff you can't use anymore and make a little extra cash too.I have always heard your trash could be someone else's treasure. You never know who you're helping when you donate to charity. Thanks for sharing this.Hopefully it will cause other people to do the same.

Absolutely, our trash could be someone else treasure. The reason why we are disposing our used and old clothes. That, though we are not using them anymore, they are already useless. Perhaps, they could be use by other people.

Second hand clothes should not be sold for money, because they already been worn.it be better if you give them to charity,so that the poor could them to wear . Their is a lot of people who can't afford clothes,an they will appreciate it them more.A lot of people house have burn down here an most of them have lost everything.an my mother give away clothes every years to the poor. Give them to the needy

This is sort of an annual thing for my family and I. We have this annual housecleaning thing before the year ends where we sort our stuff and do a garage sale to sell them. What we aren't able to sell, we give it to the church. They support various charities and we feel some of our old stuff like books could still be used by others.

hi, that was a good idea airasheila, making money through selling of those old clothes but still looks new,and aside from that there are many people out there who still buy second hands clothes rather than brand new and the reason is to save money.

That's really generous of you and your sister. :) thanks to both you, the needy are able to have some clothes to wear :) furthermore, by selling unused clothes to second hand shops, those clothes can be reused again. Lower income families would be able to buy clothes to wear. I'll sell half to second hand shops then. Ukay - ukay, never heard of them before :D not in my country though. In my country, second hand shops are called , second hand shops xD or reseller. So yea.thanks for sharing :)

I do the same thing! I give away the things I can't sell, and sell what I can either on eBay or at a consignment shop (usually at consignment shops just because it's easier and you seem to make more for them). We call them "consignment shops" here - where you can consign (sell) your clothes as well as buy gently used ones there. I've made some good money doing this! I try to donate as well but I usually end up selling.. Right now I'm going to put my consignment money to getting out of debt and saving up for Ireland...

I do not have any idea about selling the old clothes to a second hand store but we give away even good clothes as charity. Like one of our friend had said that our old clothes may be a necessity to the needy. So your decision has been accepted by your sister. Happy mylotting.

Selling old clothes is such a great idea to earn extra income. This is of no use to you and your sister anymore so giving them to charity and selling to ukay ukay is the way to go. I too cleaned our kitchen last week. I saw many stuffs that we are not using anymore and those that are not working as well. so i gather all those stuff and sold them to magbobote. I was able to help the guy to earn extra money and on the other hand i was benefited also. :)
