Is the War on Terror the appropriate response to 9/11?

what do you think? outpouring sympathy went to the US right after the 9/11 attack. but that sympathy was eroded with its response to the attack - the war on terror.

I think we had no choice but to declare a war on Terrorism. Mistakes were of course made because we have humans making decisions. I think as long as we feel threatened this war on terrorism will continue. I don't know what could possibly make us feel we are safe.

Nobody seems to remember we tried to avoid the war. President Bush gave plenty of chances for Iraq to prove that they did not have weapons of mass destruction. He told them there would be a war if they did not comply. They were stubborn and they did not comply so for the safety of the United States and every other country in the world the war was started. It could have been avoided. Plus they were funding the terrorists. That was another reason we got involved. The terrorists killed many innocent people for no reason. America had to set an example. The rest of the world failed to get involved for the most part but all countries other than the one's attacked who so supported terrorism are safer now for it. Better for us to take the war to their soil then have them attack us on ours again. I am not saying war is a good thing I wish it didn't happen but it could have been avoided.

What war on terror? The only terrorists I know of are our power-crazed British, US, French and Italian governments all bent on telling decent people how they assume we are to live our lives. They conveniently label non-conformists as "terrorists" and thus target and declare war on them. And as Edward Herman as appropriately outlined, "There Is No War on Terror" - http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7859

I'm not really sure anymore. Something had to be done to try to stop it from happening again though.
