My paypal was hacked!

Oh, what a week! Everything has gone wrong and now my paypal account was hacked. Now it is limited, so I have no idea if I received the mylot payment or not! I expect that I will have to wait a week or so to find out. Unfortunately this isn't a new event. Just searching the Internet, there are so many cases of people having trouble with paypal hackers. It really isn't reliable any more. So, I would request mylot to consider alternative payment processors. But then that itself is a problem. Just which one is reliable? I also have a liberty reserve account but the Internet is full of horror stories regarding that! So what is the answer? Do you believe any online payment processors are trustworthy? I was thinking the pre-paid debit card could be one possibility. What do you think?

Hi peter, my case is somewhat similar and it happened last week.By mistake I typed a wrong password but eventually did log into my paypal account after which I had to go through several security procedures. At the end of it all I find my account becoming limited and now I am unable to withdraw money into my bank account...Honestly, I dont know what to do?I sincerely hope that all online sites pay directly into our bank accounts even if it means waiting to reach a minimum target..

Thats strange, I mean your not being able to see any of your transactions. In my case can see all my transactions, in fact I have received my payment from mylot and I can see it, just that I am unable to withdraw or transfer the amount into my bank account.Have you mailed them? if so what do they say?

Yes "limited" is a huge problem. You can't find out what is happening at all. I can't even see the previous transactions anymore. That's why I don't know if the last mylot payment was received.

Hello Petersum, sad to hear about the news. I'm just wondering why your Paypal account has been hacked since Paypal is 100% safe and secured. Besides, as a Paypal account holder, I'm pretty sure that you have that extra precautions to protect your account from threats, malicious and fraudulent intruders that would harm your account. I'm worried because just like you and the other mylotters, I'm using Paypal, too. So far, Paypal is the only trustworthy online processor that are used mostly by paying websites. I just don't know if pre-paid debit card will do. Did you write Paypal regarding this matter?

Hello again, Petersum. I'm really very sorry of the duplicate post. Again, I experienced this duplicate posting just like what I've shared these few days. I already reported the 1st post to be deleted since it has an error. I'm really very sorry, I don't mean to do it... thank you!

Hi again, Petersum, thanks for the comment. Well, seems we could no longer trust our funds to any online payment processor, even Paypal, if this is the case. From this discussion alone where some also shared their experience with Paypal, the situation is horrible and this should be given preferential attention. May we could find a remedy to keep our earnings safe or same be likewise deposited directly to our bank accounts.

Yes duplicate posting is a major problem these days. Mylot needs to fix things to stop this happening. Paypal isn't 100% safe - just search the Internet and see how many cases you find. Even in this discussion, people say that they have been hacked or had problems. As we have no choice but to use paypal to get our mylot earnings, we should all be aware that our accounts can be hacked!

We've had a paypal account since 1999. It seems like in the first or second year eBay caused it to be frozen for a time, but since then we've had no problem.

I think mine is older than that, but there is always a first time! I heard eBay can be troublesome but isn't that because the users cause problems? I have never used eBay so I don't have any experience of it.

My husband bought and sold collector license plates for many years on eBay and it was during that time. I'm not sure exactly what happened. It's been too long ago. Now, we are not using eBay very often. A couple of times a year I buy something and use paypal for that and have had no problem.

Ah man, that sucks. I just wished that would never happen with Paypal... but it reassures me that I can't trust any online payment sites... but I guess that it's the same in the real world too.

This isn't the real world? Oh right! Yes, you can't trust a lot of plastic cards either!

I know who did it! But if I do anything about it, I'll just be as bad as him! One day I might just take a holiday and...

I really don't know enough about it to say one way or the other. I never had a Paypal account until I signed up here, and even then I resisted getting one and let my balance accumulate until I finally broke down and got one ... I didn't want all the money in my balance to suddenly disappear just because I was too stubborn to get a Paypal account.

Not the ones here. If the debit card is attached to your checking or savings account, then they need a PIN. If it is just a pre-paid card, which are usually disposable, then they don't. In fact, you can get them in the supermarket and other stores as presents rather than using gift cards, especially when you do not know what stores the person likes to shop at.

That is strange! The one's here are supported by Visa and there is a PIN on a separate scratch card that is given or mailed 24 hours later.

I don't think it would just disappear! But then I haven't kept it here. Perhaps that would be a good idea as paypal doesn't give interest. The money just sits there. Debit cards have PIN numbers which should have been delivered separately.

My PayPal has had the only 10$ I have earned so far and even I would feel bad if that was taken from me.Prepaid debit cards would be good, but I think it would cost more for the company so I don't think that would be an option for them.

Delivery would certainly be a problem. But perhaps Visa has a method - they seem to be operating worldwide now.

Hello petersum, no wonder I felt like withdrawing my Paypal money even though i didn't feel like doing so. just glad I did that, probably within the next few days i will get my money in my debit card. it's really cool to know that i have withdrawn my money. fortunately, there are only three sites where I am active with my paypal it's best to change you're password every once a month?

Yes, I'm thinking to either spend it or move it elsewhere, rather than keeping it in paypal. I haven't given my bank details, and never will - that's just asking for more trouble.

Beware with paypal, once your account has been hacked, because instead of paypal helping you sort the situation, they end up shutting your account down, but they still hold the details of your bank cards and accounts that are listed. I am talking from experience... My account was hacked a couple of times, and instead of paypal allowing me to use another email address (since this is the way the hackers can get in), they just closed my account down... now I have to use my Mum's account just so I can pay and receive payment, since Paypal is the only well known payment system and most used payment system it seems with most websites. Call them up, get them to take the limit off, so you can access your account, and then change your email address, that way you wont get hacked into again hopefully... but also you will be able to continue to use your account. If they close your account... you can't even set up a new one in your name, or use cards or bank accounts that have been used with your old paypal account... Hope this helps :)

I have asked them to delete one of my email addresses. I just have to wait and see what happens. They don't have my bank details anyway! I never verified it.
