Lords of the rings trilogy, all the three movies were epic, we can never get bored seeing those movies!!special effects, and characters everything will reach deep into our heart, peter jackson presented them so perfectly, can "The Hobbit" fulfill the same expectations? can it achieve more than LOTR?

Some People may never have read any of JRR Tolkien's classic fantasy series of Books based in the "Middle Earth" He created, but have thoroughly enjoyed the trilogy of the LOTR Movies based on those books that were produced so far.."The Hobbit" is the latest book from the series currently in movie production, but being the story of an earlier Journey by Bilbo Baggins, where the events of LOTR are actually a sequel to the new Movie(s).. (Not going into spoilerific detail for those who haven't read the book!) but there were references to parts of the story in the LOTR Movies.. With Peter Jackson directing again and familiar characters taking part, I think It'll be a promising start for the Hobbit stories..Though I don't see a 2 part prequel outselling a successful trilogy,I could cope with the surprise if it did

Have you read any of the books,LOTR or the Hobbit? You should do so,and see how the Movie(s) brought the story to life on screen..and see what to expect in the case of "The Hobbit"..

Yes shepherdspy, Jackson already proved that in lord the rings trilogy, continuity of all the 3 movies never missed, I watched all the 3 movies in DVD in a single day, I didn't even felt like those are separate movies released at different time, I think its a new concept introduced by Jackson, producing all the movies at the same time and releasing with time intervals and awesome direction, both of the part "The Hobbit" also being taken in same manner, I believe, it will be promising. But I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, eagerly waiting for the movie..

I don't know that it can achieve more than LOTR. Personally, I liked the book The Hobbit, but infinitely less than LOTR. It just didn't have the same scope and majesty as LOTR. The Hobbit was kind of a small personal quest in comparison, which can be good... but I love the epic quest to save the world so much more.

the movie itself was portrayed well in LOTR, but not sure how it would be in hobbit, as you said, it is a small quest when compared to LOTR.

I am certain the story, the direction, acting and the special effects will be amazing. I mean Peter Jackson was able to make 3 wonderful movies in difficult conditions it would be surprising that having all his talent directed at one film, with the budget it has, that it did not come out well. The problem with The Hobbit is after the LOTR movies there are incredibly high expectations related to it, so it will disappoint some fans as everyone imagines the story differently. I can't wait to see it though.

The Hobbit is a very interesting book, even without knowing LOTR (which is kinda impossible). However, I don't think it can surpass the success of the trilogy, simply because LOTR movie came out first. They will have better chances if they stick to the book.

yes, the trilogy crew really worked hard not to lose the LOTR book originality, even though I haven't read the "The Hobbit" book, if they really can reproduce what is written in the book, it will definitely make difference, and the movie should also be real, we should never feel its fictional.

Not sure. It depends who is directing the film and who the casting members are? Is it the exacy same director Peter Jackson? Didn't he also direct King Kong in '05? I can't remember. The special effects in that movie were awesome. I'm sure the hobbit movie will be good. Is it a prequel? Will it have the same actors in it or different ones? I guess I'll have to read up on it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi batgamer, peter jackson, who directed lord of the rings only directing this movie too and yes it is a prequel to LOTR, I think some of the actors are same, since this movie also directed by the same director, I am hoping it will be good.

I don't know. The Hobbit is a great story, but LOTR is the ultimate epic. It will be hard to top. I just hope that Jackson does right by the Hobbit...

The Hobbit is a beloved book that is older than Lord of the Rings so I'm sure all the fans of the book and the first trilogy will go see it. I'm looking forward to it, because I love The Hobbit.
