Is that possible? I mean, it could be when the communication is steady and both are true about who they say they are. Others could be fraud. I can only say I have online friends when my local friends flew abroad. Now, they're online friends. My way of putting it.

It is definitely possible! And there can be genuine online friendships too. I got to know 2 friends online and eventually I met up with one of them. And we are still in touch.

Hi emjay! I think it's possible to make friends via the internet. I have made friends actually thru the internet. I just think that online friends are more prone to getting their communication cut for a long time with a tendency to forget each other. You can always tell if someone is fraud or pretending to be someone just to take advantage of you. You can tell if he is lying as you continue to talk to each other online. You'll be safe from dangerous people as long as you don't meet him personally after a short period of time.

I remember I had a friend from the US. We used to talk early in the morning (our timezone) when I still had much free time then. But as days passed, I got busy and we lost communication. Now, he is still in my yahoo messenger but we've grown far from each other and we don't talk anymore.

About that, communication is indeed unstable. Much more, living in different time zones. It is true that one can tell if someone is a fraud. So, being cautious can never do us harm.

That is sad secretbear :( The friendship really did not last long. But at least, you enjoyed the communication, right? and nothing happened negative about that communication. Stay positive :)

Yes its really possible. I have a friend in Venezuela whom I only met through Facebook. Although she is not very familiar with English, we still keep on chatting whenever we are online. She was also at my age and also a mom so we became friends easily. Sometimes she teach me her language which is Spanish and I also teach her some common English word and I also teach her my very own language which is a Filipino. Having friend online specially from other country is interesting. Recently, I also met other friends from Pakistan, India and USA.

Yea its possible. I have been talking to a friend online for years because she wanted to know information of the place "medieval times" in buena park, CA. When she asked online about that area, like the reviews because she wanted to go, and since I went already, I replied my opinion and my thoughts about that place to her and she asked me info about it. After, we started talking and now she is friends with me. When we met like in person with her friends we started talking becoming close friends that she has came to my house like 3 times and vise versa. It was 3 times since she lives in another state but close that she can come a few times a year. She has made close friends with my brothers as well since my brothers and I hangout a lot.

Wow! That is just great! One true friend, you made. It is not easy to open your place welcoming another person whom you only know online. It just goes to show that you are both honest and trustworthy people. Happiness. :)

I think that it is perfectly possible to make online friends, as we chat to so many people online. I know that here on MyLot, I have made a lot of friends. The internet is a fantastic place for you to be able to talk to people who have similar hobbies and interests to you, however, it is important that you should not let your online friends take the place of your real friends. It is easy to get carried away, however you have to remember that your offline friends are the ones who will always be there for you, so don't lose touch with them.

With the development of society, online charting and making friends have become a trend, and we also have the chance to make friends who come from foreign. We can communicate with each other and know about customs. We can tell them our happiness and sadness,it's a good way to release ourselves.Though somebody may not friendly, making new friend online is benefit for us.

I think of it that way too. Meeting new people online welcomes us to a world of knowing different people. Especially about other culture, food, books, music. There are a lot to know and I am sure there are also a lot to share.

Been having online friends for a year now but in my case it's not yahoo messengers or the messengers that you use through the internet. It's blackberry messenger, a special feature for those using blackberry phones. I met people from Canada, to America to England. And until now we are still good friends. None of them are frauds. Most are married and they're all professionals. They are very decent to talk to, none of those dirty perverted things. I'm glad that i found good friends through bbm.

i think this is possable but i think it is very rare and i do not recommend it i do not think it is smart to trust people online you never know who you could be talking to i have never had a problem with talking to people online as long as the conversations are kept clean and i am not comfortable with sharing pictures (with all the photo editing now a days you never know what might happen to those pictures) and i am not comfortable with meeting even if it is in a well lit public place i just dont think anything beats the old fashioned way of making friends

Real life friendship is highly valued indeed. Online friendship needs to be scrutinized. I don't mean it the wrong way. It's just that safety is a priority. Before trust can be obtained.

I have made friends from some websites and then have met them in person. Either near me (30 miles) or near my daughter or other family members. I am careful, but it has been fun.

I believe that it is possible to make friends anywhere! Of course care needs to be taken when communicating online because sadly there are dangerous individuals out there but not all are dishonest. I tend to think that friendships are a matter of compatible chemistries or something like that and they are meant to be they will be on or off line!

Yes, it is possible. But, you have to be careful about the people you meet online. You just don't know who they are, or what they do. There have been a lot of scary news of people getting harmed when they meet with the people they befriend online.

I've heard about that. They access online and lure people to trust them. And when they meet, let's just say that the outcome's not good. Much like a news I remembered, a lady went along to meet his online chatmate and when they did, she was raped and robbed. :(

Yes, it is possible to make online friends who are true to themselves. Although there are many people who just pretend and are dishonest but there are also some who are really true friends. I can say this based on my experience. I was working as a guru in a certain site and we interact with other members as well. She is very helpful and she always shared some of her ideas and always willing to help me and answer my questions. Although that job is only for a few months but we remain friends and kept in touch with each other through email and facebook. I believe that there are always exceptions and I always see to it I am being honest myself so that I can also find true friends.

Is it okay to have online friends. It just friends and there's no problem with that. The problem will just happen if you trust so much with that friend, because sometimes you just don't know who they really are especially those people whom you never met before. There are lot of scam on internet right now. Human trafficking is rampant. People should select very well whom they want to be friends. There was a news before in our country that there was a man who was stabbed by his friend whom he just know in the internet. They are friends on facebook and they happen to meet and become close friends. But one day, as this man was sleeping he was stabbed by his friend in his own home and toke his money with him. Then he was rushed to the hospital with 8 stabbed wounds. Just be very careful, and screened your friends whom you met online very well.

That is not good news! That is what scares me though with regards to having friends online. It kinda creeps me, news like that. Many people type along those who can be. That is why, fear comes along with meeting new "friend" online.

Yes, it is possible to have friends from online. I have friends that I've made with over the years and we still maintain contact. Of course it won't be easy at first as there will be doubts but once you trust them and they trust you, and it's all about caring for each other and having a solid friendship, things will go on smoothly from there.
