I like to look at antique things, or well not quite antique but vintage things as well. Furniture, old magazines etc. The good wife's guide that came out in the fifties both amuses me and inspires me, not so much to be a good wife but a cleanly and better person. I like to be surrounded by things that have a history, more so of a familial history. Something where i can say that was my "great great great aunt suzie's that was passed down to me." I also like to collect things, I guess it runs in the family. I like to be surrounded by things that make me feel comforted, things that are beautiful but in a unique "country" type way. Do you like antique / vintage things? Are you a collector? do you own a shop?

I like some of that stuff. It is neat. I like to see some of the old things that used to be used and no longer available. I collect mainly Indian and Western stuff.

yes, I agree western / indian stuff is pretty nice. Things that you see in a saloon in shows, etc, little things that were used in the kitchen etc that aren't used anymore, I like those things as well. Furniture though is one of my favorite as I like the design, especially of chairs, those made in the 1950's etc.

Not sure where you live, but if you ever get a chance to go to Main Street in St Charles Missouri, you would love to wind down the brick roads and street and spend a day through all the little shops. 3rd week of August is always Festival of the Little Hills on that street. Also if you like the history of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, this very street was the same street used for the movie Back to Hannibal: The return of Huck finn and Tom Sawyer. In order to put it back to a dirt road, they had to bring in tons of dirt to cover the brick street. But this is one place that has a lot of history as you wind up and down the street of this little town. It sits above the Missouri River bank and was Missouri's first state capitol. I owned a shop on Main Street for awhile, and I had the Sewing store there make me a dress of colonial time to wear for special festivals and such. Happy hunting in finding your antiques! I would have loved to have had the butter churn my grandma used to have. I was the only grandchild that ever used it. We would sit down and watch 2 soap operas she used to watch Guiding light and Edge of Night and churn butter. I am amazed I even remember the names LOL

That is very interesting! :) I love to learn about little things like that. There's a town not too far from me, I used to live closer to it, but in any case, Daniel boone's parents are buried in a cemetary there, and about 30 to 40 minutes from that is the caves he supposedly hid in. I love to learn of the little history like that, and especially walk down charming little downtown areas with history.

Yes, I love antiques. Vintage clothing and furniture is better made than todays. And I love victorian architecture. I have pictures of beautiful victorian mansions. I used to have articles around me with history but I had to sell them to live afew times. Love the vintage!

For me, sometimes I think antiques is a fascinating craftwork, however, I have no interest to collect them since their value is quite difficult for me to evaluate, and so they are not a good choice for investment. Indeed, I also like to appriciate them for they are so exquisite. You can image more when you watch them.

Have you ever tried flea markets? Sometimes you can find real super bargains. Sometimes thift stores can have cool vintage items as well but i think flea markets you can probably find better deals.

I love antique and vintage items! I'm currently looking for a vintage classy couch to complement my sitting room! you never know what you'll find at some of those stores that sells that kindof stuff.. On the other hand I'm a little weary on getting into collecting and searching for antiques and vintage items. My parents were big on that kind of stuff and they got so into it that their house seemed to be filled w/their treasures. Don't get me wrong, they weren't as bad as hoarders but I was worried of it becoming that way! Lol I love that kind of stuff though...as long as it's relevant to what I really want:)

My house is antique and it is in sad disrepair. I do not own a shop, I like it when I find friendly antique shops, but most of the ones in town here are stuck up. I have some old bottles, old glassware. I have a crocheted tablecloth my grandmother made. I really enjoy using it for special occasions or sharing it with my friends on their occasions, like graduation receptions and this last July we used it in a wedding reception for a friend. I tried just a minute ago to upload a picture, but it did not work. I have not been able to upload pictures here for a month.

I have always collected things simply because I enjoyed them: I used to collect, stamps, rare looking and foreign coins, fragrances and books. Years later I was pleasantly surprised to know some of my collectibles were valuable. I like nice and rare things.

I like vintage things that came to me from family. Other than that, I occasionally see something antique that I like. Mostly not into it though. How's the job going? PS the gang's all back on Birejji...

I would love to be able to identify antiques and try to collect them. I have never really had a lot of experience with them so I have no idea. I love the watch that Antique Roadshow. I would love to have a family heirloom.

Although there is some beauty to antiques, I've never been one to really appreciate them. I like to modern stuff. Even minimalist style. When the kids finally grow and leave the house, I am thinking of redoing the house to be modern and minimalist. The only antiques left would be their dressers which is tucked in their room.
