The Greeks believed in Gods such as Zeus and Hades. However the personalities of these Gods is nothing like the God most people believe in today. The Greek Gods were Jealous, Committed many sins such as Cannibalism and Adultery and were probably worse than humans in their cruelty. Do you find it strange that anyone could have ever believed in such Gods?

not really. the funny thing is that people say God made man in his own image, and then act surprised if Gods demonstrate human traits like jealousy or adultery.

You better re-read the bible or should I say bibles? You think the modern god is a great one? Murder is normal to him just like punishing and threatening etc. An eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth etc. This modern god is not different from the others, he doesn't care to kill, to kick out his own kids out of paradise, to change them into salt, to let them drown etc etc. And worst of all he allows those who believe in him to kill others. Also incest is normal to him, the ones he made and it even happens nowadays a lot by modern believers, just like rape. I prefer the old gods, at least they are like we are, they don't say they are only good and full of love, they are way less hypocrite.

It isn't strange at all. Back then the concept of a loving G-d was strange. The Greeks and the Romans were warriors , a warrior themed society so their G-ds mirrored them. I believe G-d comes to each person, each society in the form They Need Him to be.

Are you serious? The Christian God is a very jealous god whom, according to the Bible, did commit many sins such as those you listed. He killed the entire planet with a flood, after his only child got killed and God supposedly forgave humans for their sins. "probably worse than humans in their cruelty." Most humans don't genocide a whole planet. I find it stranger that anyone can believe in such a God as this than the Greek gods.

Well, they believed that gods were not perfect and that they too bore human qualities and weaknesses. Truly, I really enjoy learning about the Greek religion and mythology. It's so interesting, and their gods are so diverse and unique. Even though, the world ruled by these gods were full of angst, suffering and lots of bloodshed. The Greek gods could intervene with the Human world anytime they wished, there were good and bad gods. Have you seen "Clash of the Titans"?, that was such a great movie! Though, I wouldn't want selfish and evil gods ruling the world. But I love the creatures and world though.

I just wondering why Gods and Goddesses were standing in heaven where in heaven there you could see stone pillars, walls, tables and the are all standing on top of the clouds.... thus a clouds in heaven have crust? ground? or floors? why those pillars and heavy objects there never falls down? is there any solid ground there in heaven clouds that you can stand for?

In my opinion Zeus and Hades are just few characters of Greek Mythology. I am not against for those people who believe them. I'll respect them the way I want to be respected. As a Christian who have a strong faith, there would be no other GOD for me but the GOD ALMIGHTY in HEAVEN.

That is because although knew there had to be "someone" greater than they were, they could not imagine anyone existing without the human characteristics that they were accustomed to seeing, the jealousy and cheating and stealing and killing. They could not imagine any better.

Hi Joseph! How did you know that these gods were like that? And do you believe that they were really like that? And do you even believe that they existed? But to answer your question, people make stories if they cannot explain things with their reasoning. For the Greeks, I think they just love to associate everything to something godly. Like beauty. They love beauty so much that they had to personify it by making a goddess called Aphrodite. They worshiped beauty and prayed to Aphrodite that it will last for a long time. Another example, when there were sickness and plague that made people die and they could not explain it, they made a story that a god, Prometheus who "gave" humans the capability to heal themselves, was held captive by another god, a goddess in fact named Hera so that he could not continue giving this ability to humans. So people started dying. It is convenient for people to believe in these things because they won't have to think reasonably. They won't have to explain things. They just have to believe in something majestic and godly. It's the easy way to live.

these Greek gods and goddesses are idols made from man's innate desire of a God his heart have long for since the beginning of man history. actually they were made popular because Greece became a powerful nation back then in the time of Alexander the great in which Hellenistic culture was spread throughout the the Greek empire and even to every corner of the ancient world. actually every nation have their own version and images of their native gods.. The bible through the Apostle Paul made mention of them when he visit Greece in his missionary journey and he stand and proclaimed the one true God who is alive, real and existing instead of these man made gods..i dont find it strange to see people regards them..its real and man is still disregard the truth about this subject that someday will be reckon against them

Not at all. The ancient people had no concept of a compassionate God. So, they had to invent their gods out of the experiences they had in their own lives.

Greek Gods? now I remember again that HERCULES did scam ATLAS, the reason why the world named to Atlas.... Hercules should be the one to carry the earth from falling down and not Atlas

i don't find it strange because i mean, look at the stupid and weird things people believe in nowadays! its no different from someone studying scientology, or believing in a budda lol! there's just no difference. sure look at the jewish religion who don't even think jesus has even come yet, and here's christians bowing down to him.. it' all as crazy as each other!

To me, Greek Gods are more realistic than the one god that most people seem to subscribe to in today's society. Greek gods were more of a reflection of humans rather than being an image of perfection. These gods had emotions and were able to make mistakes or overreact. These are all characteristics of people some are unable to handle their emotions and act out upon them (not saying it's right just that it is what happens). And not all greek gods were evil or demented, but they did have their bad apples just like humans.
