Radio, News..... Do you?

Hi everyone...
Yesterday i was in my home and at around 1:55PM, from the radio of my neighbor's home.... the voice of news were coming and mom said to me that she wishes to have a radio in my home so that she can listen news and other programs (we had earlier but not now and as we have TV and news paper, so we did not think so much about it). I promised to her to give one.
Well, when i was a high school student, the radio was like an alarm from me, because many radios were running every where and i could easily pick up the time and did my daily duties. Mainly my father was interested to listen news and at night he always listened VOICE OF AMERICA. I tried to listen the commentary of cricket. Now as we are technically developed, we have forgot the value of a Radio... i dont generalize but here it seems. New generation sometimes listen the DJs programs on songs.
My Indian friends perhaps heard... Aakashbani, Samprati Barta suwentam, Prvashaka Balwananda Sagarah..... ( Aakashbani, the news read by Balwananda sagarah)

I remember when I was doing my diploma (3 years polytechnic), I told complained my dad that I was feeling bored up especially during the monsoon season evenings. And my dad bought me a radio. Every day i used to spend hours listening to different programs on radio.
Now a days life is very busy no time during the week days and in the weekends also I spend songs listening to the Radio FM some times. That old radio of my college days is there at home but no one has time to use it. Everybody watch everything mostly on the television only.

Hi roy...
Once upon a time, i was also a great fan of radio but as you have said, due to busy schedule, i have lessened this habit and now dependable on tv. Usually i watch news on tv and this is the vital reason that i used to listen radio earlier.

Honestly amigo,it was only in my high school days when I do listen to radio and it's not even about news,it's just those music which are pop and jazz songs that I like most. I even record some songs from the radio just for me to memorize the lyrics of a certain song,lol! Having reached college,I already forgot about radios,I guess that the time cd's are already up so I just open my component radio for cd songs not the songs from the radio anymore.
When I got married,I don't even have a radio anymore though my home theater and cell have radio. It was when my dad told me he likes listening some news in the radio early in the morning 'cause he said he doesn't want to open our tv early in the morning so I bought him his own radio and that's the time now that I get to listen to radio news and songs again.

The news that I listen to on the radio is usually in my car. I really don't have a radio anymore in my house. I guess the TV and computer had pretty much replaced it. I do still have an alarm clock though. I have been using both it and my cell phone since I had my vacation and become spoiled rotten.
I have lost all my habits of listening something from music to news or from commentary to gossip.

Yes sometimes I do listen to it in the background while I am on the computer. I will put it on the radio and hear while doing things online. There are also times I am not in the mood for music and put it on in the car.
I like to hear what is going on in the news so I either read, watch it online, TV and or listen to it on the radio. I find that it is a must for me to know what is going on outside of my doors.

When I was young I had a transistor with me apart from a regular radio and this transistor was more than a sister to me. I can write pagers and pages of my loving companion.Inseparable we were. If I switched it on in the morning at 7.30, there would be songs right till 11 at night at intervals and I used to listen to them.I had learnt 112 film songs by heart whe I was in school and used to sing in school.
After I got married this habit no longer stayed because my environment was not too conducive to it and later the habit vanished totally.
Now I do not have a traditional radio at home.

I remember too my father used to stand besides the radio every morning listening to the news of the Vietnam war. Now radio has become obsolete as people prefer to listen to the world news with pictures ever since tv came into existence. I have a radio in my car and it is the only time I hear the radio broadcast. Incidentally, my sister is a radio DJ and while driving I listen to her on air.

Nice to hear that your sister is a DJ and can hear the same voice meeting in person. I know that most of us like to listen while driving but wonder is not it risky where as concentration is concerned? I dont know exactly as i have no car..

Hello Shibham,
I really miss the radio news now. I think it has been long time I have not listened a radio. But in my home there is a radio with the stereo and still they do listen radio.
I remember when I studied, I too used to know the time from the radio as there was news time at 6.50 AM (after this news the Sankrit news also relayed so I could understand what you have written) from State station then 7.20 the news from Delhi relay… (in our local language). At 8.00 AM the local relay will be closed then relay from Delhi and it must be in Hindi. Now there are many radio stations in Kerala and programs are available more often.

I think i have to repair my old radio or to buy a new one for my mom.
I have written the sanksrit address before news on sanskrit. It was too popular and familiar voice to them who listened radio too much.

I liked to listen songs on the radio but I use it rarely. Most of the time I used to listen radio in car during traveling so I can listen the latest song without purchasing CDs. And also hear the cricket commentary during traveling. Yes due to new technology its use is decreasing in compare of before but still its a good instrument.
About Aakashbani, Yes I have heard it on radio.

Hmm.... i have no car dude. But now a days my habit of listening music is lessened. I am quite busy with other stuffs and have less chance to listen. Yes, i heard cricket commentary when i had no Tv or power was off.

Your avatar is so scary .....i used to hear the radio programmes in my childhood esp. on sundays . But T.V was the first choice always as it was audio-visual . After the FM came in the craze for radio started . We started listening while travelling . I developed a habit of listening again . But unfortunately with heavy work load now my interest is dropping . My mom still listens to the radio at her leisure .

yeah i still love listening news to the radio .. the reason is that we cann evaluate our self the different situations and scenrios .. usually, when im on the office then im listening to the crciket commentary and beleive me its fun sometimes .. but i thinkk is for sure that the presenter should be a entertaining person

i still love listening news to the radio ..most of time i used listen radioin mobile and car driving and travel so i can listen song and news and there many station in pondicherry and programs are available and more than station. my father is every day listening radio song news
