I don't understand wordpress!

I paid for a .com address on Wordpress... and I got a .wordpress.com address... well to my knowledge, that is a free domain.. I spent $25 getting a .com domain and I don't have it. I made a dispute with paypal... but so far haven't heard anything. Maybe I just don't understand Wordpress.. but don't you get a .com address when you apply and pay for it? What happened? I went to the 'store' there and I can buy a new domain name.. but I already paid for it.. so what's up with this?
Anyone know? I don't want to put my blog address on here because I don't want it to get zapped.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

You haven't been scammed: their system just threw a wobbler. Contact support and tell them, they'll fix it.
The domain cost is high because it includes hosting and support, of course. Renewals after the first years are about $15, I think.

WP has, um, "unique" support. They put everything on their forums, pretty much, so that people can see responses et al. Two ways to contact:
1. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/support - just post something in there, with the name of your domain and what happened.
2. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ - walk through that. I entered "paid domain name has wordpress in it", scrolled past the responses, hit "No" for "Did this answer your question" then could fill in a contact form.
Responses are pretty quick: I've posted there once or twice and had answers in a day every time (usually quicker).

There are two things you can buy. One a dot com name and it is true they are not that amount should be less. You can also buy hosting and that might be what you are paying for or be part of the cost where you can put all your files on a server. You link your domain name to the host computer so that now you have an address on the net plus web pages. Some places do give 'free' hosting though there maybe catches while others provide the service for a fee. Perhaps what is needed is a change in how the address (your address) is seen by the outside world. Hope that helps.
If you do a search you might see one that got resolved with wordpress - i can't paste the link because it is not letting me sorry.

Sorry for not being clear. If you bought something you did not get a free one right? LoL - joking
Seriously, if you type in your address say it is(myblog.com) and it does not come up on your browser then it might be myblog.wordpress.com
If you try that does it work? If it does all you need to do is have it changed to the correct domain name which should be myblog.com
Is this what is going on? If I am in another world here please tell me ok but was thinking that might be the problem.

GoDaddy is good. My SIL had one for awhile for a blog type site.

It's more because you're getting storage, support, etc. Renewals are about $15, I think, which works out at just over a dollar a month for space/support plus $10 for the name.

Too late now... I'll probably never get a refund. Should have just stayed on blogger!

Sorry for my delay response as I was making dinner. I see you canceled and got your money back. I was going to say to await for support as I had heard that the wordpress Admins have worked with others and that they have succeeded in getting a refund.
Glad you got it worked out.

I'm glad I got that canceled. I opened a blogger account and moneytized it. It will serve the purpose I want. I think if I ever get a paid domain again I will use GoDaddy. I got my money back last night.

Just red the response above, I guess the case is solved now. Congratulations!
Anyway, $25 for a .com domain.. Somehow it is really big. Why don't you buy a domain + hosting from another hosting solutions and install the wordpress inside it? I already try it in one domain (which is not bought from wordpress) and it is easy enough and working well..

All that is over mr head, so to speak. If I ever buy a web domain I will try importing or exporting. Whatever.
