Do you have any Genetic Diseases/Illnesses in your Family?

I don't want to turn this discussion into a long list of people's medical conditions.Rather my query relates to genetic conditions, some of which have been proven to be genetic, and others are strongly suspected of being genetic, but scientists haven't found the gene yet. Alzheimers runs in my family, more than 50% of people in my direct line of descent get this condition, including my father. We have traced this back to my G -Grandmother, who also had Alzheimers. In addition, sleep apnea is genetic in my family. I have it, so does my brother and father. Although there are other medical conditions in my family, such as my fathers heart condition, they are isolated, and more likely due to lifestlye factors. Are there any medical conditions that run in your family that are genetic, or appear to be genetic?

Yes, i guess it is not so popular although i have seen quite a few people with the condition. It was just recently that i discovered that smell has a lot to do with taste. What i discovered was that i was not so picky when it comes to food- i can eat anything as long as it is not too salty and this always baffle my friends.

Alzheimers runs in my mother's side of the family. My grandmother had it and two of my aunts are suffering from it. So far my mother doesn't seem to have it, but my cousin who is only in her late 50's is starting to suffer from it. I have some type of brain condition that could be genetic but they are not sure. My father was an only child and my only sibling is in a wheelchair from an accident. I was asked a few times if I am related at all to President Lincoln. If I am, I am not aware of it. It seems his blood line suffers from the same sort of disease that I have.

This must be a rare genetic disease. I do vaguely recall from when I was last on My lot two years ago, you telling me about a condition that you have. With the Alzheimers, your family must have it as much as mine.

The doctors are not sure if it is genetic or not. The cerebellum is smaller than it should be. That part of your brain controls all kinds of things like balance and leg movement and it is getting worse all the time. The shape my body is in, Alzheimers might be better for me. At least then I wouldn't be able to remember what I used to be able to do!

That is a lot. You will really need to look after yourself, heathwise, to avoid getting these conditions yourself.

Dear friend, In my mother's family most of people are allergic to dust and so am too. No other herdiditary diseases other than this I feel so. But at times it makes me too irritated when I am place full of dust. Mostly during driving in dust places I have no other way to escape other than putting up the glasses of my car. Moreovver I avoid those places with dust.

It is true that allergies are inherited. If it is very bad, maybe you can wear a mask on the very dusty days.
