I always go through the Yahoo news before coming to here at myLot when I get online every day. Just an hour ago I read a piece of rare news: At about 4:40 yesterday afternoon an American woman tourist who were about 30 years old helped a 30-year-old Chinese woman out of water in West Lake in Zhejiang province, and after she's sure that the woman was safe then she left with her guy without telling anyone her name or phone number! The eyewitness,a retired man named Wang Ronggui said she's very fast and it took her no more than 10 minutes before they left! But it's so lucky that he took some photos for them. Nowadays more and more Chinese people become afraid of involving those things, but why was the brave American woman jumped into water without hesitating??

Well, I guess that it is an instinctive reaction, in order to help another person in peril, I think that is the most natural thing to do, regarless of one´s beliefs. The woman didn´t hesitate because it is something that happens in just a few seconds, and the mind has no time to process it as it normally do, placing one´s own safety first, I am sure that most people would have do the same.

It is really sad, that people restrict from helping other´s, I don´t understand what make your fellow citizens think that they will be extorted, probably this has had happened before, and it is really a pitty that the behaviour of some criminals, keeps people from being compassionate to each other.

Yes,the world need that kind of instinctive reaction so much, and there's lack of it among Chinese nowadays, many of them are afraid of being extorted, and that really makes quite a few people not give a favour to someone who's in danger.

I think Americans and westerners in general tend to be more helpful. And I think it's common that they'll not hesitate to help someone in need.

I hope it's common for all human beings to help those who are in need, but I can see lots of Chinese become more and more selfish, money is more important than everything.

Yes,and I think it's those reasons that made the American lady jumped into the water to save the Chinese, she didn't have the heart to see her unknown sister drowned before her since she encoutered such an accident. As a Chinese,I thank her so much and wish God bless her!

That is wonderful! She wanted to be an unsung hero or she wouldn't have left. There are many times this happens. A hero does something great and just walks away thinking...it was what they were supposed to do!

Hi,Jillhill!I agree with you.And we can say she's very brave and smart! She really did what she felt like doing in front of that case, and she disappeared without having given her name and phone number in case there would be possible boring trouble since it's not a show on earth!

Wow, what a kindheated lady she is! I got to say that she is a good example we need to follow. Indeed, the atmosphere of contemporary society in China is not so good. Since a couple of pathetic events happened, Chinese people are afraid of helping others in case getting troubles. To my mind, the American lady's action has much something to do with the atmosphere of U.S.A. I have no idea whether she would do so after being blakmailed for several times. Thus, we should put too much blame on our people. It is the system of the society that should be responsible for all tragedies, for the unfriendly communities. Without swapping the system, we Chinese may got to lament for a really long time .

Yes,if the American lady was had as the murder who wanted to kill the Chinese woman just after she helped her out of water, how would she do?And luckily the woman said several "Thanks!" after the old man's encouraging! You are right, the woman shouldn't have drowned herself even if she had thousands of reasons, she's to blame!Everyong must love himself and never give up the value life.

Wow! That woman was very nice to risk her own life to save another and she just left. I think it's a wonderful thing. Hey, maybe she did want her picture taken. What if she is on the run for a crime she committed in the USA?Best Wishes!

Encountering such an accident a brave person never hesitates, otherwise he or she mostly didn't give a hand.By the photos we can see she's very calm and skillful, she's a good swimmer as well as a kind woman.

Yes, i'm ashamed to know that there are people walking away when they see somebody in help. Most americans and europeans are more willing to help when they see such happenings. They are also much friendly, and i think it's partly due to their culture? It's the same thing over in singapore too. When they see someone almost drowning, 8/10 people would stand around to watch, while one will either jump in to save or call the police.

God created us that way. To be compassionate and to be able to help people whenever they can. Maybe it just so happened that the American knows how to swim, so she was so courageous in saving the drowning Chinese woman. If i were in her shoes, i would do the same too.
