Stronger people are faced with bigger challenges

When I hear of people struggling I often wonder why. Why do some people have really tough challenges and others seem to breeze through life with few problems. Of course I am aware everyone has some struggles and often no one knows what another is going through. Still it seems some very good people have problems much more serious than others. I think life is bascially fair and we all have opportunities to grow. We are told we are not given more than we can handle. So I wondered if it is possible some are given more serious challenges because they are stronger and can handle them...

It has not to do with being stronger. The 'God will only give you as much as you can handle,' applies only to the chidden of God, So anyone else who has not been chosen by God is on his own. Therefore a person who is very weak may be made to fail more and a person who is of strong character may not get put through strong trials. If you are a Christian not just in name only, then God will not give you more then you are able to bear. It does not matter if you are of a strong character or not.

suspenseful I was raised Catholic but I have always had a hard time believing any one way to look at things is right for everyone. Ultimately I think all are children of God..

There are several reasons for some people having tough challenges. Some might be their Karma, bad choices, no support system, and low self esteem. I do agree that some are given more serious challenges because they are stronger and can handle them. BUt they also may take it as a normal part of life to have these challenges too.

celticeagle I think I agree with all you said..there are many reasons involved depending on the situations.

It all depend on where you are living; what sort of government and social environment you have to face with every day. Basically, life is not always fair due to government created many unfair policy to prevent fairness from taking place in many part of present world especially in developing world, ordinary/average people are not given anything in their life except had to work hard and struggle daily to have some things in life which is very different from what you described that people are given more than they can handle. Trust me, in many countries, if you are a member of minority group, you have nothing in life except have to struggle daily just to put food on your plate; stay alive and have a decent standard of living.

lampar You are correct and this too is a question I have pondered. Why were some born into easy circumstances and others we born into very difficult ones. Since I do believe in fairness, I wonder will we all experience all conditions whether through reincarnation or another way after we die. Maybe in different dimensions?? Maybe we are living now in different dimensions...

Life is fair in the way that any of us will have the chance to face big challenge. It is very likely that your chance of hitting a concrete wall is the same as mine. Just you are the unlucky one that the wall really appears right in front of your rather than me. So, if you look at any individual, sorry, life is NOT fair. Some are born in good family while some grow in the poor family. How could that be fair? How could you call it fair if a poor kid need to not only complete his study but also do part time job just to continue his study while the others can have spare money to enjoy a foreign country stay every other month?

faisai I too have asked the same questions..and that is why I consider reincarnation or other explanations. The ultimate in fairness would be if all experienced all circumstances..

Actually, what I know is that the strength of the person is revealed only when they faced challenges. An issue can be viewed light by others because they are strong. However, those with poor coping mechanism sees small issues big. Thus, on my opinion, the question of how light or heavy an issue is depends on the subjective view of the receiving end. Just my views.

The reason why people struggle is because they cannot accept things any other way than the ideal they have in their head---whether it's an acceptable ideal (living in peace with all humanity) or an "evil" ideal (abundance beyond measure, not caring whether anyone else has such abundance). When their ideal isn't 'the way Our Father gave it to us' but -is 'the way it really is,' people feel they have to labor to MAKE IT Our Father's way again. If they accept it the way it is, they seem lazy--of course--but they don't have to worry about how 'wrong' it is That reminds me of a recording I'm going to make about Make Promises Happen (MPH): I don't know if MPH actually has a written 'Mission Statement,' but their name is a LIE ... they seem to be more about 'keeping their "customers" (we brain-injury conquerors) out-of-the-way-of-life,' rather than 'getting us back-into-life.' I think MPH may be an additional foe in my struggle against brain-injury the way 'the butler' is an additional foe in The Joker's struggle against BATMAN

I guess everybody on this planet has problems, but the people who are actually strong are the ones who fall down and get back up to solve the problem rather than remain fallen. It is very common to see people failing because they have other problems and using those problems as a reason to get their guilt off. But most of the times it is just them and not the problem itself. There is nothing called as stronger person or a weak person. It's just the mindset that makes people strong or weak. bourne

I was born with a disability. My positive attitude, faith in God and sense of humor help me to cope with challenges. I view my disability as a gift and a blessing. We are never given more than we can handle.

MandaLee Your attitude is an inspirattion to others. It seems life teaches us we have choices in how we think. LOL my next why question may be why are some able to cope better than others. Thanks for your response.

the more challenges we have, the more opportunities for us to learn, life really isn't fair sometimes but it still depends on us how to handle our own problems. Different people handles differently, if given the same situation, and its what makes the difference.

midnightbliss Very true..growing up I used to have a card on my dresser saying 'You don't have problems you have opportunities' LOL my father was very pleased to see I wrote that and kept it. I don't know that I understaood the full significance until I was older.. It's true at times life does not seem to be fair, but in my opinion eventually everything is fair...

Well, maybe your explanation is right, and maybe some people have easier life than others. I am also struggling with my life, not only my family, but work, and also my love life. All has been a big challenge to me. Nothing smoothly as other people going through. So, I am one of those people who is also in a struggling mode right now.

kingparker I think everyone gets something to handle. No one gets through life without some challenges. Mine I guess is a philosophical question on why some get seemingly undeserved suffering. Like children who suffer from diseases...there seems on the surface to be no reason. Or a freak accident that takes the life of a family member…

Life is basicly fair? Sorry but I don't agree with you. We all don't have the same chances or opportunities nor the same start. And if so we don't have the same parents, childhood, character. It's not that stronger people face bigger challenges but that they do look different at problems they have to face. Instead of sitting and praying and hoping they are fighting for something better. And if they are not able to get that they know at least they did their best. And for those who always have to deal with the same kind of problem (financial, love, relationships, etc): as soon as you change you will see those kind of problems are over or at least not weighting that heavy on your shoulders anymore. Why? Because you changed and so did your attitude. Although this doesn't mean you have the same opportunities as others now.

WakeUpKitty I agree on the surface things do not look fair. How many of us were taught.." Life is not fair' My curiosity is more about not just this world but also the next. I don't know if we lived past lives or future lives, as in reincarnation, but it seems to me that would be a very 'fair' system. That means we would all be born into different circumstances until we experienced everything... LOL I don't particularly like that idea but I do think it sounds fair...

Many people are able to handle their challenges without others know much about it. Others like the drama and attention that goes with problems. So they make more of it. I think attitude has a lot to do with the problems one has. And choices that are made. I have noticed that I am able to block out and head off a lot of the stuff people go through by the choices I make and how I handle my life and emotions. Yes, it is said that bad things happen to good people. They happen to bad people too. We just don't notice it as much. I know we think bad people never get what we feel they deserve or fast enough. But, I can assure you they do. The universe does revolve around order and balance.

joni...Thank you…I too believe attitude is everything. Just looking around it is obvious bad things happen to good people and it's true they happen to bad people too. While some of our choices can lead to problems, my curiosity is about the things that happen that we have no control over. That's my big 'why' question. I too think there is order in the universe and we will all understand everything someday.

I believe that it is in our darkest hours that our character is built, in order to build the strongest possible character we must spend longer in the those dark moments then the average person. Once we do emerge from those struggles there truly will not be anything we can't handle. Don't spend to much time feeling sorry for these people though because there is an upside to this story. Those who face grate adversity have the fortune of knowing what is really important in life. The things that seem to throw an average person of track are of no concern to a person who has faced much larger struggles. They are able to face each day appreciating all the small moments but prepared to handle all the big ones.

curmont I feel you are absolutely correct What you said is reinforced by many who have gone through horrific ordeals only to come out of them saying it was the best thing that ever happened to them..
