Oh no! No more Wikipedia!

I believe most of us (if not all) visits Wikipedia for some information. Do you find Wikipedia useful? Do you know that they don't earn money because they don't put any advertisements in the site? Crazy right? Imagine how much money can they earn if they allow capitalize on their popularity? but they don't do that because they want Wikipedia to be that "special site" and because of that now they are having problems on how to maintain running the site due to financial problems on how to add more servers and hire more people to maintain the site. So they are asking for donations ( refer to the link below) from the users of the site, My question is would you donate to Wikipedia? or at least spread the word about this? Do you think they should consider placing ads in the site?

No, I'd never donate to wiki, because from taking a class on research, wiki is nothing more than just anyone adding info about a subject, whether they are an expert or not. I was forbidden to use wiki for that reason when I did my research paper, because it can have inaccuracies. I do visit the site on my own, mostly because it pops up a lot, but if I really wanted the honest truth, I wouldn't use Wiki.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy reading some wiki, but to donate to a site, I'd want my info as accurate as possible..:)

I do use wikipedia. I have found myslef using quite a lot these days. I simpy will type a subject into a seach engine and then find the link to the wiki page. I was not sure how they made money or genrated revune. I have seen other sites ask for paypal donations and the like but never on wikipedia. I am not sure if I would want to contrubuite or not.

Yes, I always rely to Wikipedia whenever we have assignments and researches to do because everything we find are already there. As in complete, I think so. So people let us help Wikipedia to stay longer and last. Don't worry I will try to seek help from every people in the internet to help Wikipedia in their financial problems.

Wikipedia have asked for donation even before. This isn't the first time they done it. And once they have collected the amount they needed to keep the site running, that letter asking for donation will be removed.
Although there were wrong information in wikipedia (inputted by others) I still look up and get information there. When I have earned much from all my online stuff I would probably donate as I know if I can't donate now, they might be asking for it again after some years by that way I might be earning good

This is the same thing I alerted Mylotters to many months ago. I was fearful of it going down back then but it is still around. There have been the same type of things saying Facebook was going down too but it never did. I try not to worry about it too much.

If I had money sitting around and wanted to use it for whatever then I would probably send some to them to help out. I am stretched enough from money issued so if I was to take some of my money and donate it I would donate it to a medical cause I care about. That seems much more important to me overall. I would be sad if it went away though, I use Wickipedia a lot fo the time and it is a great resource for me!
