Emoticons are important to you?

Hi everyone.... Here i attended some discussions where the starters were upset for not having the ability to add emoticons on their writings. They were informed by seniors that they should have cross a milestone to acquire that extra feature of mylot. Again, some veteran mylotters are also addicted in adding emoticons. I know why we use "emoticon", but do you think that its essential to nourish or clarify your thought? Cant you express your feelings/speech without using them? Why/why not? Well, as far i can remember, in between 3600 to 4100, i have made 3/4 hundreds of posts consecutively without putting any emoticon and i was able to express my feelings/speech and mylotters also understood well. Share your views. N.B. :- As my last discussion on "mylot payout" was deleted. so i regret for the lose of those mylotters who participated on that discussion.

Hi Shibham I really liked to use this emoticons on my every post. And I am doing it. Surely we can express without them too but emoticons makes it easy to express our feelings. I guess after reaching to 200 ratings I am using them in almost every post. So yes for me its important.

Usually i dont use emoticons but if i have to express something that i cant with words, then i use. Most often it seems that some emoticons are irrelevant. Have a nice time.

Hello Shiby. Well, i love the emoticons as i didn't have toys when growing up, you know. Anyway, they help a lot to make a point and not be misunderstood. See, something like this.

I was using ascii emoticons before I can use these luxury emoticons provided by myLot. Sure, emoticons are not in any alphabet, and we can write without them, but if they are here, there is certainly a reason for this, and it would be stupid to not use them

I enjoy using emoticons. I feel that when we talk to someone face to face the other person can see our facial expressions, but while writing our facial expressions aren't visible so we can use these emoticons to show our facial gestures. Also these emoticons are so lovely. They show all our emotions from, smiling to grinning, frowning, snarling, winking and lot more. I am waiting when I will be able to use emoticons in my post. I feel they make the posts very lively and the conversations more interesting.

Hi Inderjeet.... you are right. The emoticons define our facial expressions and it makes our posts too clear to the readers. Hope you will reach your destination as soon as possible. Stay here for a long time to reach them. Have a nice time.

I read in your replies that a newbie has to wait until 200 posts to be able to use emoticons. Umm... so i'll have to wait for 160 posts before I can show my expressions to my readers.

If we write novels have time to care about words that choose to be clear. But in discussion want to say something fun or angry, or other to paste emoticon and just to go. So, yes they are very necessary! Especially when english is not your language :).

Agree, as English is not our native language, hence there are chances to get misunderstood. Here, emoticons can play a vital role. Have a nice time.

Personally I don't use them but rarely. I do see tho why some folks would..something about a picture painting a thousand words. I suppose that could be modernized to include emoticons..Enjoy!

Hello shibham. You're right. One can express oneself equally well without having emoticons. I too seldom use emoticons unless I think it's essential to make light my responses and comments. Otherwise, words can express what I want to say. But then like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

It is easier to comprehend the meaning of a post when there are emoticons. It clarifies confusing statements avoiding conflicts among people who read posts.

I use emoticons to express how I feel. And I like it when others use emoticons when they reply to my discussions because it means they took the time to actually add those thingies (it becomes tedious sometimes and steals 5 to 6 seconds of your time. ) Sometimes I even feel that the maximum of three emoticons is not enough because I'm a very emotional person. But, I started a discussion about this and got good answers mostly from the seniors on how to deal with it. Hope you have an emotion-filled day!

Hi glory, Nice to meet you after a long while. oh, sorry then. If i posted on your discussion without emoticons then surely i made you frustrated. hmmm... well, i will be sincere for the next time. Actually, i am not so emotional and it does not seem too important to me. Have a same day

Awww... thanks for the emoticons, then! It's okay if you don't put them because that's your personality. We're all different from each other after all. So I understand that not all people really use the emoticons. But, I appreciate you effort here!

Using an emoticon is a great way to show some moods. There's something that you can't explain by just writing. :) For example, these two conditions are completely different: - I will kick you! - I will kick you!

And "- I will kick you!" would be against the guidelines.

I think emoticons are really important for me.. i can use it for expressing my feeling, and i think using emoticons are more effective than using word. emoticons give a simple way to express something in mylot. emoticons also can give a colorful pposting, it will make the discussion become more interesting to see. the discussion will not too serious.

Hi shibham, with or without the emoticons our writings can still be reached out to many readers vividly. But since admin has added this facility to express ourselves with full of expressive actions we might just as well add them on our discussions as extra accessories. Make full use of them as it doesn't cost you anything.

I use emoticons because they can elaborate on how I am feeling in a discussion. The printed word can look very blunt and the meaning may not come across with clarity. The reader can think for instance that the person responding to his/her discussion in a rude or disrpectful manner, but with an emotical signifying a smile for instance, his written statement would immediately be shown to be said in friendliness and not animosity. I am not addicted by any means to useing emoticons, but will always add a smile to signify friendlieness or laugh to signify humour or any others depending on the feelings I was to convey with my words. Right now, I am happy to have explain why I use them... _Derek

Hi derek... Its true that we get misunderstood in some cases but i do not agree with you that without emoticons, reader can think a discussion in a rude or disrespectful manner. The reason is, if so , a newbie cant be a veteran as s/he is not allowed to put them unless reaching 200. Well, i have got your point here and understood your speech. Yes, to show our endearment, emoticons are really essential. Have a nice time.

I rarely use them. I wouldn't use them on a serious discussion. Every once in a while I will use them if the discussion is fun and frivolous. Of course when I hit 200, I used them for a few weeks until the thrill wore off.

I also don't put emoticons to my posts because I find it unnecessary to do so.I know I can express my thoughts without putting them. But it still depends to the user if he wants to put emoticons. We are all different when it comes to thinking.
