Such pain, ugh, I did it again!

Back in June I was sure that I'd broken my foot and was in an air cast for 2 months. On Sunday night, while taking care of the dog, I went to get down on the floor and crushed my foot, the same one I broke in June. I went to get it checked out today, something I hadn't done last time, and this time it was a complete waste of my time. I was there for about an hour, not enough time at all for proper exam and treatment, and that's exactly what didn't happen while I was there. The doctor just glanced at my foot and sent me for xrays. He was reluctant to say anything about it, said that everything looked good and that's it. Told me to ice it and stay off of it and use my crutches. Why would I be told that if there wasn't something wrong? I have an appointment tomorrow with a specialist. If there was nothing wrong, why would I have that appointment? Something fishy is up, that's for sure. My foot doesn't have a lot of swelling, it didn't the last time either. But the pain has spread past where it originally started. And my foot has been icy cold for a while, until I wrapped it up. I don't get it to be honest. Lets hope that I get proper information and an exam tomorrow morning. I can't do this.

I don't think doctors have to study a course in school about interpersonal communication. If it looked so good, he wouldn't have had you go see a specialist. Unless he's getting kickbacks for referrals. I hope that's not the case. Let us know what you find out.

It wasn't just me that he did it to. This morning at the fracture clinic, there were 2 other people there who had similar problems and were told that they didn't have anything wrong with them. One had a fractured ankle and the other person had a separated shoulder. He had been told that he had simply sprained his shoulder. But it was confirmed this morning that I have a hairline fracture in my foot, and now can't work, which really frustrates me. This guy really needs to learn how to treat patients instead of treating them like trash, which he did.

hello kris. i am a nurse and i have been practicing the profession for three years now. your doctor might me reluctant to say anything because he thinks he cannot manage your condition so well that is why he is referring you to a specialist.that is how business goes on the field of medicine. i have seen many doctors do that in our hospital.they will refer a patient to a specialist if the case of the patient is beyond their capacity to treat, which is right and proper i think. as for your foot, continue icing it to relieve pain.pain relievers such as tramadol will help too if prescribed by your physician.

That is awful. Keep us posted. I broke my heel and have 9 screws and a metal plate holding my foot together. I could not walk for 7 months. It completely changed my life and I have pain each day. Sometimes hardly any and sometimes hard to walk. I wish you luck and take care of yourself.

Doctors do not want to say anything that might be speculation, especially if they are not sure of what is happening. It might be that your doctor saw something that he or she did not think was "right" but was also unsure exactly what it was or how to treat it, which is why you have been referred to a specialist. These days with people being "sue happy" and the cost of malpractice insurance being so high, many doctors are even more careful about what they will and will not say until they are absolutely sure of the diagnosis.

I am sorry to hear that and hope you fine with your foot . I do not know that exactly but I know how long we can wait in the hospital . Yes , wait for the doctor is not short time , so I always take a book or music and kill the boring time . Heheh , I think maybe the doctor is true ,there is nothing about your foot and this is the best . Come on fellow , trust him . And do not be sad .

Sorry to hear that. A lot of these doctors are in it for the almighty dollar where some doctors really do care..I sure hope you find a caring, honest doctor. Take care and don't worry everything will work out.

That does sound suspicious, and a very good question on your part. I would be all up in his face for saying that nothing was wrong, and then wanting to send me to a specialist. I mean, what's up with that? I was just in for an xray on something else, but atleast the doc didn't assure me nothing was wrong for sending me. He said "we want to make sure nothing is wrong" and then sent me.
