My dog ate my homework

That's what I thought when I got out of the shower to find my camera bag strap chewed in pieces. I do merchandising and many times I must photograph the end result. I have a job tomorrow and as usual placed all my supplies for the day in a bag and placed the bag on the floor by the door so I can grab and go in the morning. Well I get out of my shower go upstairs and there she sits with the strap to my camera bag in her mouth and pieces of it on the floor. She has never bothered my stuff before so I'm not sure why now. Hubby is out of town this week and my schedule has been quite full with me being gone more than usual between volunteer work, merchandising, and meetings. I wish she would have eaten something else.

Hello Foster11, I am sure you realize it's not your dog's fault. She was probably bored and she needed some action in her life. Especially that you said you were busy this week. You probably didn't have enough time to play with her or to take her for a walk so she found something to entertain herself. My friend's favorite quote is "a tired dog is a happy dog". She always says that to everybody who complains about their dog's attitude. A dog that takes long walks together with their master don't have the energy to destroy things around. I hope you won't be mad at your dog and you will manage to repair the damage she created.

My dog has done the same thing. She ate my daughter's homework, that she just brought downstairs. While we where in the kitchen, she chewed up most of my daughter's poster board. My daughter was like I can finally use the excuse that the dog ate my homework. I had to email her teacher and explain everything to him. I made her take her chewed board and the pieces in a baggy as proof. She ended up getting a hundred on it, even after I made her do it again.

The formula was just right. Hubby was out of town, you were having an unusually busy week and the dog decided to pull a new stunt. That is reason to say, Why me?

I had to smile when I read your post as I remember so many kids that used to come into class and say that the dog had eaten their homework! It was quite a good excuse at first, but then I think it wore thin with the teachers and nobody was believed even if it really did happen! _Derek

I agree with the rest who responded to your discussion. I think your dog got bored and needed something to do. Make sure that he/she has a chew bone or a toy to play with all the time. Perhaps you have not yet given him/her a walk that day... or he/she got excited over something. Anyway, if you have time, watching dog shows help a lot. I recommend Cesar Milan's Dog Whisperer. I has made me understand my dog better. (",)

It sounds like your dog was a bit bored, especially since it seems you haven't had time for her over the week while your husband is out of town. Maybe she chewed it to get some attention? I hope the damage wasn't too serious beyond just the strap of your camera bag.

hi there... I'm sorry to hear about it... I don't know much about dogs. But I know that they have a tendency to chew things... LOL... Probably, your dog was getting bored and so took such an atrocious action... I'm not sure... Good Luck with your assignment... Take care...

I. Well, dogs can really be playful at times. It's fun to look at but sometimes the consequences can really test your patience. I've had some stuff totally destroyed by my dog. But it's really up to us to prevent those things from happening. We just need to be careful on where we put our things if we have a dog in our house. Ever tried bringing your dog to a dog school? :)

When I had a dog, I never put anything that I couldn't bear to lose within there reach. It was not out of malice but still when those pups get a bit crazy, they can really go rather insane for no reason. Boredom is a rather interesting thing. Humans do some strange things to deal with their boredom so why should dogs be any different. The simple fact is that they should not be any different. I think that in the end, it is a lesson learned. Don't put your things, especially when they are important, where the dog might get it. It might be a slight inconvenience to you but it will be an event bigger inconvenience to you when the dog decides to go to town on that. It's a lesson that dogs can be well behaved most of the time but they have their moments.

So next time my friend, be sure that your things are in safe place where it couldn't be reached by your dog, or run over by someone hurrying to get out. Sometimes, we have ourselves to blame for an incident like this.

I thought it was something out of the movies only but hey! It can happen in reality. There are some dogs out there that basically eat or chew anything that is chewable. I have never experienced this before but I did have a crazy dog that chew all my clothes! As a kid, during the summer time I would wear very flowery dresses at home in the yard. I would play with my dog in the yard and he would just attach himself to the edge of my dress. He would then try to tear the edges of my dress! My dresses all had nasty teeth holes in them and my Mum had to throw out all of them. I would also swing my dog while it was still chewing through my dress! Puppies tend to chew on things as their teeth attempts to develop. But it would suck if your dog ate your project or your assignment that you've been working on for ages! of course you can't blame a dog for being a dog so I guess you just have to store your things somewhere where your dog can't get their paws on them.

You have to buy her some thing to chew and play with. So she wouldn't chew your things. Buy a new bag for your cam and don't leave it reachable by your doggie

I know cats love straps so much but sometimes dog do it too when in the playful mood. Maybe she messed with your stuff now because you said this week you are busier so she feels like you are ignoring her and she is just looking for some attention. Just find some time to play with her and keep your camera far next time. Happy mylotting! :)
