Sri Lanka finally won a test match in South Africa beating them by 208 runs. This was their first test victory since the retirement of Muralitharan and that too on overseas soil. So the year 2011 ends with a fairytale test match result for the Lankans. Herath took 5 wickets in the second innings to seal the deal for Sri Lanka. Cheers! Ram

Yes. Sri Lanka won a test match and it is fine. At the same time India has lost to Australia. It is very sad to see this. Congrats to sri Lankan team and australian team.

Don't be sad my friend. At end of day, it is only a game. Lankans were thrashed soundly by host S Africans in First Test, but see how Lankans have bounced backed in style by giving hosts S Africans a taste of their own medicine :) Am sure, Indian team would fightback. This Indian Team has done that even after big defeats in Tests in recent times, and is capable of proving all their critics wrong once again. Cheers!

Yes, it is only a game. But a game that should have been won. :) Having said that India always tends to start the overseas tours poorly and this seems to be just another example of that. Cheers! Ram

I think more than anything it had to do with the retirement of Murali and Malinga. This left a big hole in their bowling lineup. Now that they have won their first match since Murali's retirement, I think they should be able to turn around this run of poor results. Cheers! Ram

I do not think it is going to be easy to find a direct replacement for Murali. I think to find that talent and commitment is really very difficult. But I think even if they get a spinner 75% as good as Murali it would be good enough. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Sri Lankans deservedly won! Lankans outplayed host S Africans in all departments in this Test. I esp. liked the way Sanga batted in 2nd innings and guided other batters, held Lankan innings together, and ensured huge lead for their side, sniffing out any hopes S Africans might have had with early breakthroughs. All Lankan bowlers bowled with fire and used conditions much better and batters backed them by applying themselves better and putting up good score on board. It is great to see subcontinental teams doing well outside the subcontinent on green tops. Cheers!

Yes, it was a good team effort. In the first innings Welegedera ran through the South Africans. In the second innings Herath joined in the fun. Congratulations to Sri Lanka. Cheers! Ram
