Australian newspaper launches virulent verbal attack on Sachin Tendulkar

Friends despite his unparalleled greatness, an Australian newspaper slammed the batting maestro Sachin for backing Harbhajan Singh during 2008 Andrew Symonds "monkey gate scandal", saying some Australian players lost respect for him. Friends if I remember Sachin was just one of the witnesses and he testified that Harbhajan merely used a hindi abuse which sounded like a monkey. But I cant understand why this outrageous article has surfaced at such an important , just in the middle of test series. I hope its not any tactics to distract Indian team and specially the little master.

I think they are trying to rake up pressure on him. They want him to fail and hence are starting this sledging match. I think this will only make him more determined to answer them with his bat. I am actually happy that they are making these comments. This will really perk him up. Cheers! Ram

Unfortunately Sachin fell in his 40s. Indian batting collapsed yet again for less than 200. In reply Aussies are 116/3. Cheers! Ram

I'm not sure which article you are referring to... do you have a link? The "monkey gate scandal" had very little impact here & there are a lot of Aussies in the crowd supporting Team India as we write. Perhaps the media here wanted to shore-up more support for Aussies by turning these fans against Team India??? This is a bit under-handed to me. We all want - and indeed expect your top batsman to perform well here. Our bowlers are also performing well beyond expectation.

No, I'm not offended - just as surprised as everyone else here. I don't read that particular newspaper & Malcolm Conn is clearly out of touch with the real world. "Maa ki" misunderstanding on the field, which I'm sure the actual players have long forgotten. I hope things start to improve for Team India soon.

Veganbliss please dont be offended. I am not blaming your team. I am just telling about the media. As we both know that upto which extent media can go to spice up their columns. \By the way this was reported in one of the newspapers Herald Sun and the article had a headline of " Sachin's Sin city" written by "Malcolm Conn" a commentator. Whew So todays match was more of an one day international haan... 13 wickets in a single day....Lets see what tomorrow will be unfolded. Good luck to both teams.

Don't worry my friend such cheap tactics and dirty mind games would not worry our cricketing great Sachin for sure. His conduct always has been impeccable to say the least. Never does he swear, abuse, is most humble despite his God-like status and is role model to one n all. So, Sensationalism is flourishing in Aussie land too! Getting some mileage, increased newspaper circulation by trying to tarnish image of great Sachin. I think in long run that newspaper would lose credibility by planting such baseless allegations. Everybody knows Sachin's presence on field in fact helped diffuse that verbal duel and also he was just one of witnesses sharing what he thought he heard/ felt actually happened. Just because he does not say or act like you want, does not make him cheat or idiot! Now, just before important game when spotlight is on Sachin scoring great runs, publish such cheap news is dirty tactics, sensationalism at it's worst. I know Indian Team cricketers like other cricket players don't read/ follow News, and if anything such cheapness will fire him up, make Sachin perform even better with God's grace. Best of Luck to Sachin and Our Indian Team, Cheers!

Hahahahaaaa See the thing which came out from that same series is that " ponting took a catch, and ball was touching ground, but still he appealed to umpire and got the batsmen out. Why this australian media is not transparent in disclosing that matter too. If I am not mistaken Michael Clarke was also present at that time. This makes him equally culprit.

Andrew Symonds himself is encouraging Sachin saying that Sachin is to get 100 during this series as he could bat without pressure on Australian soil. Symonds, Sachin and Harbhajan are friend after playing in IPL matches here.

True, This is the media only. See the players play the game with sportsman spirit. They quarrel but then they forget these things with the time. See we all saw how Symonds and Harbhajan played together in IPL still media has the bad habit of digging the graves out. Actually they want to spice up their respective news papers that's why they end up making the simple things quite complex....

It's an attempt to morally discourage India even more, but I think Indian team and little master needs to avoid this and concentrate on his game and retaliate to the newspaper by striking his 100th test century. There's nothing which can be done about this incident other than just ignoring. Sachin will again show his greatness by keeping quiet and proceeding with the game. We Indians too shouldn't make much of an issue about this, the newspaper is just using cheap tactic to gain publicity or sells and attention in the Indian media. Don't worry friend Sachin will score his 100th ton this time and I'm damn sure Sydney will host this historic occasion in the history of world cricket.

Yes In my opinion too this is a outrageous step of Australian media to distract the Indian team but in my opinion they must not lose their concentration and should focus on their game meticulously. Good day.

ha ha what an article to come at a time when Bhajji and Symonds are playing together for Mumbai Indians. Who cares if Sachin is given respect by the Aussies cricket players are media. Aussies are very good at verbal games and when India team is reacting back they are not taking it sportively. Is article is just of disturb Indian cricket team. To my best of knowledge, they players will keep away from media and newspapers. Even then Sachin knows how to handle these issues very well. One ton in Australia if comes then all his critics will keep quite for a while. It is just that 100th ton which must come as early as possible.
