Over 400 Friends...I Only Talk to Five.

Recently I noticed that I have over 400 Facebook "friends" (if you wanna call them that) and yet on a daily basis I maybe talk to only five at the most. I was thinking about deleting people but then I realized that Im way too lazy. But then someone told me that even though you may not talk to all these people now, 5-10 years down the road you might be doing business with them. And then I realized why Facebook is such a powerful marketing tool. Even though I dont speak with all these people, as long as I have them on Facebook they have access to anything I post. I was wondering how many people are using Facebook as their primary marketing tool for their business. And if it's worth it to keep all 468 "friends" that I have, because right now...I only speak to maybe five.

i have less friends there over 150 of them but i hardly talk to anyone there as i don't spend my time there sometimes i talk with few through message and if i keep the chat on then hi comes pouring in and i run away. because once i starts chatting then time goes by like anything so to save time i avoid chatting there

I only use facebook as a communication device to send appointments and/or going out with friends. I usally don't chat on facebook only when it is urgent and I don't have any other method to contact that person.

This is actually very interesting and you gave me an idea. I might even try to create a new account just for that. But are you sure you only talk to five out of all of them?

Hi dheppler, You made me look at how many friends I have in Facebook. And I was surprised to have 652 of them. Well they all are not my friends. I still have some on queue and still think whether to accept them or not. Later on I might accept them, as you said in the future it might be useful having so much friends in social sites in case we put up a business. It's useful too if you are blogging as you can promote it on facebook.

yes it is a good marketing tool for business, I have many friends on my list but I only talk to a few the rest are just game players but I have noticed a lot of people just like to get high numbers on their list so they join up with anyone to get them, a status thing I think.

I think that in the same premise that it's easy to keep so-called friends on facebook, it is also easier to find these friends down the road. So, I would say why keep them? If the purpose is for marketing tool, then keep them. But then, you wouldn't be calling these people friends, but clients or customers.

My Facebook friend now is over 800+. And each time I logged in, I communicate with at least 5-10 different person everyday. It is just because I add my real "offline" friends, so the communication via Facebook can be more intense (well, let's say, as the substitute of cell phone). And yeah, for me it's worth it to keep that number of friends, since I know most of them personally. I don't really concern with business though, but I believe I may get connect and talk with them again, later in the future :)
