My family is once again participating in Walk Now For Autism Speaks this year. Every year we have a hard time coming up with good fundraising ideas. Does anyone have a good idea? We do ask friends and other family member for donations, and we each donate as well, but every year we try to come up with an interesting fund raiser to drum up additional donations.

Hi Wiccania, Well, bake sales of course are pretty common but can raise some good cash. I think if you went around to local business's a lot of them would be willing to put a donation can out on the counter for you. Check out local people that are selling things on their own. I knew a lady that ran a candle business from her home and she sold her candles for 10.00 each. For the fundraiser, she would let me buy them for 5.00 each and sell them for 10.00 and the additional 5.00 was donated. Another thing that pulls in some money is to have a big huge garage sale. Ask for donated items to sell. Good luck, Wiccania!

Oh geez, 3honor...now I'm wondering if they have done the same thing here in the US. Now that you mention that, I am almost thinking that they have.

Another thought...we have a place here where local bands play and people can dance. Quite often, they will hold a benefit dance and all proceeds go toward whatever charity they are holding it for. It usually draws in quite a crowd.

How about a sponsored silence? Particularly good for keeping noisy children quiet and they love to compete at one another in seeing who can stay quiet for the longest.

Contact local bands and get them to hold a concert. They want to get their music out there, so fundraising is a great way for them to reach a new audience and expand their fan-base, and they will do it for free. :) I have attended a few fundraising shows for various causes and they were all fun. Some do tickets for entry and some are free with a suggested donation. At this concert, you could also hold a raffle for prizes (like band merch, for example).

Bake sales are usually a great idea and sitting outside local grocery stores help as well. Doing a cook out in front of walmarts is what people do here to gain up money for charities. People selling candy bars at local sporting events that dont have concesion stands is another great way to earn up money. Coming up with a website and getting the name out there is also a great way to earn money if you know or you can creat a website to help out. Always ask for people to help you out with getting the ball moving on fundraising too so your not alone doing it.

My brother has done Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and these are some of the things that he did as fundraising for his event. Comedy Club Night - he got half the money for each ticket sold to the event. Garage Sale - asked for donations of goods to use for yard sale. Bake Sale - same as above done in tandum. Tupperware Fundraiser - 40% of money made from fundraising brochure.

Bingo fundraising There are many ways to raise money with bingo games. Just be sure that yours comply with local regulations regarding games of chance. One common approach it to charge a small amount such as $1 per game or offer unlimitted games for $20. Winners then select from a variety of small, non-cash prizes. Another approach gives tickets to winners. Then winners can redeem winning tickets for different level of prizes. In this format, single ticket winners select from one prize category while multiple game winners select from higher value tickets. As with any fundraising event, you can also offer additional moneymakers. You can sell food and beverage or have donated items out on tables around the room available for silent auction bids. You want to attract as many bingo players as possible, so you need to do more than put it in your newsletter or email you list. A great way to reach as many people as possible with minimum expense is putting out a press release.
