Hi everyone... Yes, i am crying right now (if you could see me then tears are on my eyes). Mom and Dad are requesting me but its hard to me to control. Reason, a bird (photo is attached here) has died on my hand. Nope, i have not killed... its my cat who hunt that baby bird and played with him brutally. I tried to make him cure (as he is injured) and feed him some foods(grind rice mixed with boil water, as its winter here) but he took his last breath on my hands. This case just happens 15 minutes ago. My stupid cat has killed this poor/innocent bird. He is absent now and definitely i will kick him out.... stupid cat. How would you react if your pet kills an innocent bird? Please share.

It is reallt hard, but so is the nature. Cats are always hunting for bords or mices. I know it sounds hard, but this is the nature. You can't change it, I also don't like see animals dying, but when for example a spider isn't killing flies, there are to many flies.

Hi FluxNl and wiguen..... I am an animal activist and its better for me to forget my cat for the sake of birds. I do provide all foods to him but still he kills butterflies and other creatures. Is not it a nonsense ? Have a nice time.

Hi shiby. Your post here really surprised me and it distressed and disturbed me too. How can you speak so unkindly about your cat who loves you and depends on you? You slap him?? That's just terrible. You are abusing your pet who loves you. So he killed a stupid bird, big deal...that's how nature works, the bird also kills things. My cat brings home mice, rabbits, bats and birds. I get the birds and bats and release them but the other things he brings home get eaten. I don't get mad at him for doing this because it is what cats do. It's as natural to him as breathing. I'm really sad and disappointed you feel so nasty about your poor cat.

You have to understand that your cat did not do it to anger or upset you. It is perfectlt natural for a cat to kill birds, mine has caught one before and while I love birds ( I am an animal lover) I understood that my cat was just doing what comes naturally. You shouldn't be too angry as it is all a part of life. It can be very upsetting but like I said, it isn't your cat's fault, it was just doing what it was born to do. Most cats will kill anything that they can catch be it a bird or a mouse, it is something that is ingrained in them. I don't think that you should kick your cat out, but you might want to make some changes to make certain that the birds don't get to close. I personally keep my cat on a leash when I let him out, I also make certain that the bird feeder is out of his reach so that the birds don't get close to him. I know that it is hard but it is normal and it is something that most likely will happen again. I am sorry that it was so hard on you, I hope that what I have said makes it a little easier to deal with.

You are right. Its their basic instinct and unfortunately that bird was a baby bird and was not able to fly high otherwise tom was not so smart to catch a flying object like bird but he catch butterflies. Months ago, for his stupidity, he suffered a lot... he tried to catch a honey bee but it bites on his cheek and he cried a lot. I gave him some ointment to get relief. So, their instinct also puts them to danger sometimes. Nope, i will not kick him out. Actually i was so frustrated when i was writing this discussion. Have a nice time.

It is instinct for a cat to go after a bird. That's what they do. I am more concerned for the health of the cat than I am for the birds. Birds carry many diseases, and can be pests around here in the city. Not to mention get the cat sick. The songbirds though, I would be a bit upset if a cat got one of those. They are very pretty and sing nicely. But a common bird, eh, sorry to say but I do not have much concern. They are all around and not special to me.

Hi shibham, Of course I would feel really sad too and disappointed with the cat. But I will not kick the cat if I'm you. Things have happened already and it is a fact that cats and dogs hunts for mice, birds and any animals or pest that they see. So you just have to understand it and hope that next time the cat won't do it. If you kick the cat he will still do the same and you might not even stop the cat for hunting a bird. Seeing the cat around your house haunting for something you will still be able to know what he's haunting.

Well, sometimes we have to face the reality, we can't foreseen the future of the bird.. my dog loves to kill cats.. she already killed I guess 6 cats, maybe its just time.. Don't be sad.. if something has gone something will also be replaced by God..

Bird - Set her free please!
Stup!d cat indeed or shall I say bad and ruthless cat. But what can we do cats or dogs would really kill a bird or whatever small creature they could ever see? I think that is their normal tendency. My dog almost killed my hen and it me so hard before I was able to take out the other feather of my hen from the mouth of my angry dog. They can't go together so it is better to provide a separate world for them. Now with birds, I would say it is better to just set them free.

Yes, it is there instincts to run after with those small creatures. So, your dog kills your pet hens? it is nonsense, he should know that he is living in a family where hens are also members. The trainer is not perfect. As an animal activist, i never cage any bird and allow either. have a nice time.

if you have cat in the house nor dog then expect it to happened as most of the time for the cat they thought it a food to it sometimes they think its an enemy and they need to protect themselves first before they will get hurt. somehow you just need to think that its how nature goes though i understand your sympathy of that poor little bird did on your hand but at least you tried to revive it. cat is not really stupid coz they dont have a mind like what we have to think better of what is good or not coz if they do then i dont think they will be cat as maybe they are already human.

Nope, as i have seen, my cat think and behave with them as an item to play. Neither he eats them nor thinks as a rival. He has no need to save himself coz you better know that a butterfly cant do any harm to him. Its his nonsense, if he thinks so from his instinct. you are right and thats why he is still around me without living a street life. Have a nice time.

Reading your responses I see you have not kicked your cat out! Good for that! have you thought simply of keeping the cat indoors? I've never had an outdoor cat, although I've taken care of feral cats on the street before, and still do. Or perhaps a bell around his neck? Warnings to birds can be helpful.

As a child when I caught my cat catching, birds, squirrels and mice I too tried to save them and cried.. But, I also did not want my little kitty to starve, as I was not allowed to feed her as she was a wild little feral cat.. But, I snuck meat out to her every now and then.. I used to make her mad I would catch the animal from her and break its neck so she did could not torture it but yet could eat it.. I did not want it to suffer but wanted my kitty to enjoy her hard earned hunt. I would scold her if she caught birds she later on adapted to squirrels and chipmunks who usually got away.. had one escape her and hid in my long hair under my neck.. I was nervous the crittered would panick and bit me neck so I walked slowly and leaned against the bark of a tree and he ran up the tree.. but now at times I have squirrels, chipmunks and birds that follow me around... so it shows I rescued alot of critters.. out of my 9 feral cats.. who are well fed now only two really hunt that is garfield and tugger.. when I watch them trying to hunt a bird I grab a water spray bottle that sprays very gently.. just put some clean water in it.. most cats will catch on if they catch a bird this means they are gonna get sprayed and will stop.. others like my Garfield and Tugger are so stubborn there is nothing you can do to stop them from go after to what appears like a yummy chicken dinner to them. I love chicken.. so I forgive my cats for huntiung their own chicken from time to time.. Also make sure you have plenty of little cat toys.. I prefer grey feathers on the toys as I noticed if my cats do hunt they prefer to go after s aimilar colored birds to there toys.. So if you do not want them to go after birds try balls with bells and little pieces of furr they may change their preferences to mice.. Mine just enjoy torturing my mother at the bird feeder I think as only time they hunt birds really is when she is watching :) .. otherwise they like to hunt schrews and gift them to me on the porch.. they are suppose to be hunting mice as wild farm cats.. But as long as cats are well fed, have plenty of toys, and attentions.. birds will become less fascinating.. in fact they can enjoy their fun with pieces of chicken on a string.. after all they just want their chicken and exercise :) .. but as with any string related toys don't leave them unsupervised.. I no longer get mad at them.. But I teach them be nice! .. and many times if I just say be nice! they will abandon attacking the animal and look at me.. or if I bring out a piece of meat some of them will let go of the animal they are trying to hunt and grab the meat instead but be fast as they can accidently nip you in the process.. but again I work with wild outdoor cats so an indoor cat may not be as aggressive..

Well, i am a vegetarian and animal activist. If my cat would eat his hunts then i had no problem but he just catch and play with them and let them to suffer. He does not eat anything other than rice with milk and fried fish. So i cant allow him to hunt a nature only to his entertainment. You have suggested to bring some toys and i think its a great idea and i shall try to follow it. Have a nice time.

Sorry but the stupid one is you. It's nature a cat behaves like that since it's a predator. You better should not keep a cat if you can't live with his nature. And punishing KICKING an animal for what he is is the most terrible thing I ever heard. I have predators: cats, ferrets and owl, always had and even more. And yes they eat: mice, rabbits, birds etc. That is fine with me since that is the way nature (or if you please: God) made them. I assume you don't eat meat yourself?
