There may still be a few sites which don't require a verified PayPal account in order to make a purchase but most places do. The reason is that it is far more secure for a site to only accept payments from verified PayPal accounts. Nobody but you and PayPal can know what your PayPal balance is, so it would be quite possible for someone to make a payment from an unverified account which did not have sufficient funds. All sensible traders will only accept payments from verified PayPal accounts which are backed by a regular bank account or credit card.

You are in India, so there are restrictions which may not apply to others. The best answers will be found in PayPal's documentation and Help pages on the site for India. Because of restrictions imposed by the RBI, PayPal have had to impose special rules. The most important of these is that all PayPal balances are automatically transferred to a bank account within 7 days of receipt. Theoretically, all Indiam PayPal accounts ought to be verified (though many are not, of course) - I'm sure that is what the RBI would like! This may mean that you will be severely limited in using your PayPal balance anywhere on the Internet. The only solution is to open your own bank account (and you will need a PAN number to do that, I believe: http://incometaxindia.gov.in/Archive/Form49aE.PDF ).

Hi mike, buoyancy is actually right in this case. It is the Paypal rule in India. One needs a credit card linked to Paypal account in order to use Paypal for purchase. Bank account is necessary for auto-withdrawal. So, for Indian, Paypal is just a means of payment, not Internet wallet that it is in other countries. We cannot use Paypal balance, or our bank account for purchasing. Paypal balance is automatically withdrawn to our bank account after 7 days of receiving payment. The only upside, we don't pay withdrawal fee, ever....even if it is just $1 or so.

You need to add those to paypal account. Bank acct: to fund your paypal or vis-versa Credit Cards(CC): in order to purchase online. CC are known to verify your mail address! Again without providing bank account, you PP account is limited to spending and receipt! Some merchands, accepting PP might allow you to pay for stuff via your PP account if PP allow than you should see checking account among choice to pay from. However, understand this might take weeks to clear! Again without linking any of those thing, online purchase isn't possible!

Only two reasons I see are folowing: - By adding and confirming your bank can make you verified - Credit cards are meant to confirmed mail address. - By adding those also, will prevent hacker to enter same account numbers Most merdchands prefer shipping to a confirm address however, as I previously said, if you don't have credit card, merchands may allow purchase through your PP balance if pay via bank through paypal (it might take weeks to clear) By paying via credit via paypal is quicker. Does this help? You might contacting paypal support for details!

Firstly, wrong category, there's a different PayPal category altogether. Secondly, No. You will have to provide all these information for security purposes. I have a bank account and have linked to it, but I haven't linked a credit card so I'm not able to make a purchase. I'll do it soon, and so should you.

From India, no. You need to link your bank account in order to make auto-withdrawal (new Paypal rule). And you need a credit card to purchase things from the internet. Even if you linked your bank account, you will not be able to use it to make a purchase. Regarding the category, you don't have to worry about it. There is no rules or guidance in myLot that says one has to put everything in the right category. The categories are made up by us - users. So wherever you want to put it is fine. As long as it is appropriate. As mike mentioned, Paypal is internet payment gateway, so it is fine in the internet section as well. Happy Lotting.

Kaleb, the thing is, PayPal doesn't want to get into a mess if you do not have enough funds in your PayPal account. Once you have linked your bank account to it, they will deduct the balance from there if there aren't enough funds. So it is necessary. Also, so many people are misinformed about the auto-withdrawl thing, I haven't enabled it, and it's going fine. I suggested he put the discussion in PayPal so he would get more and better responses. Just a suggestion. . .

Linking PayPal to a real life bank account is possible, but optional, you can still use PayPal without any credit card at all. The problem is that your account will stay unverified and as such you will have some limits in the amount you can use to purchase and receive and a few other limits. Some people doesn't accept money from unverified accounts too, so for those you will be unable to buy there. Anyway, the vast majority of commerces do accept unverified accounts without any problem at all.

Yes, you can do the transaction from your unverified account. However there are some drawback, like your transaction will only be limited. But if I were you.. if you plan on using your Paypal money on shopping online - try to get it verified because most people prefer to receive money from verified Paypal accounts.

Hi kalebtheman, thats a great question, but my understanding is that when your register with paypal you have an option of connecting the account with your bank account...at least thats the way it was in October when I joined mylot....So my money can be transfered right to my bank account or leave it on Paypal...I've only recived payout once so' my money is still there...haven't done anything with it.. I am definately not an expert with this subject but I just thought I would let you know an option such as I have..... Good luck and welcome!!! I am sure you will like it here......

the reason why you have to link a bank account or credit card is to have your paypal account verified. yes you can still buy online without verifying your paypal but you will have a limit and some other sellers only transact with verified paypals. so its better to link bank account or credit to remove your limit and also for withdrawals.

I just signed up for paypal. You have to enter a bank account number or credit card if you want to purchase online. Just like anything else that you buy online, you need a credit card. I didn't add one because I don't want to buy anything online. I just want to get paid from mylot.com. Post if you find out differently.
