Are you able to manage your time effectively?

The most challenging part of being self-employed is that you have to manage your time effectively. How you wish you can distribute time spent for each activity so that you can do more to earn more, especially as a writer. As a consultant, I also encounter the same problem. I usually miscalculate the time I spend on specific tasks that I have to finish and tend to do some overtime work. The good thing is that I now enjoy more hours with my nieces and I get to take an hour break spent with my family and I get to save in travel hours from commuting from home to office. I keep a diary and I know in which area that I need to improve on. I need to have stronger discipline because I tend to wake up late now that I have complete control over my schedule. How about you? Are you able to manage your time effectively?

That's really my problem because what I do to manage my time it seems time is not enough for me to do something on the net. I want to make more activities on the net to maximize my income but still not follow what I posted on my board...

Not really~(^^) Like you you I can't properly managed my time. It will be time where I am so strict with it-stick to what I should do and there will be time I get so lazy- just go for important works.I think I should be more discipline and not just go for whatever way I like so I can use my time better.(^^)

My mother would always tell me to it is quite ok to be lazy for some time but not often. This way, we get to enjoy our life. But I really, really have to time myself. Instead of rising late, it is better if I wake up early, do works and then the bumming should follow after accomplishing task. It's a little rigid but I guess I have to take advantage of the opportunity that comes in when I wake up early. Thanks for commenting here.

If you mean about getting up late, I rarely do this as it depends whether I sleep late or not. Most of the time I got no problem to wake up early no matter how late I sleep at night.(^^)

I have been self-employed all my working life. It takes discipline, but I guess I was fortunate because my Dad always had his own business and I grew up being influenced by this. The hardest part, I would say, is to work when your mind is playing tricks saying that you are wasting time doing something, that you know in your heart that it is very necessary. _Derek

Hello derek_a. That's right. It is very hard to condition your mind and body when it is not in the mood. There are times that you feel you just want to lie down and relax but you know there are a lot of things that you need to do. The good thing about being self-employed is that you have your own time. But we also know that if we don't work, we will not earn or the business may encounter some unforeseen problems. Thanks for participating here.

I think that I am pretty good at managing my time, I learned that when I studied online. Without self-disipline and effective time management I wouldn't have been able to pass my exams, because I had to plan everything on my own and make sure that I finished everything on time. Some days it was hard to find the motivation to get up early and start studying, but I had to do it anyway, and I think that experience helps me when I work online. I like the freedom that I have and I enjoy planning my own days. It is nice that I can work harder if I want or take a break when I want, I think that is the best thing about working online.

Hello Porcospino. You are very right. When you get the right habit, you'll be satisfied working online. Because you have control over your life and you don't feel like being a slave to others. If you want to earn more, then work hard and smart. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

I think I am managing my time effectively. I wake up early everyday and finish the house chores before my employer goes online. I do the assigned jobs until late afternoon, so I still have a lot of time left to do myLotting. I have always had a strong discipline and determination when it comes to work. This I learned from experience after working in companies for always a half of my life.

Hello yahnee. My employer also gets online after lunch. I was hoping to find one who can be online much earlier. Anyway, it's good to have regular clients than none. Thanks for participating here.

I manage to schedule my time very well and i have much discipline and control over my self.I do not have to do anything particularly to achieve that, i usually have in my mind what i want to do everyday. This is good, because i manage to cover my daily time effectively but this is really tiring some times and i need a brake up. So i think that is very good to be organized but not to over do with it because this might stress you.

Hellow parscevi. That is cool. You are right that by overdoing the planning, you get stressed when you are not able to achieve it. The point is having fun while doing your work. I think you have strong self-discipline. Sometimes though it is hard when my 2 y.o. niece would want to play with me. I get distracted. But it is a welcome distraction though. Have a great day!!!

Well, for the last 6 years, I have been working on my own. I am my own boss. So there is really no problem in so far as managing my time. I set my own schedule of activities and plan my trips for my business. I love this as compared to my previous work. I do agree that it is indeed a challenge but for as long as you love your work then everything will be a walk in the park....

Lately, I have been having a hard time managing my time. I became too busy with my work that I even do overtime. I was not able to attend to my other activities. The only time I get to spend time with my loved ones was during the weekend. But most of it, I spent in sleeping, so I did not really get the most out of it.

It is a battle within us. I too have that mood. But I try my best to overcome it. I make sure that I get to finish my tasks on time. But I too am guilty that when it is very near, that's the time I get to move.

Hello vt689586. I agree. Whether you work for yourself or as an employee, you need self discipline and time management. The good thing with working for yourself is that you don't loose much time traveling and you don't have to answer to your boss. You are your own boss. Have a great day!!!

Managing time wisely and one of my new year's resolution. I Have once read a saying written in one of the walls of an University School, it says " A well-arranged time is a well- arranger mind" . It's kinda hard really but if perseverance and self-control is there, we really can manage it effectively and successfully .

That is a good quote. It has some sense. Our mind is always running and thinks of a lot of things and we get motivated when we see or hear other things too. By planning our time well, we get to focus on the most important things. Thanks for sharing.
