But this is just temporary, sooner or later they will push through their plans and implement it with out without protest from all these Internet giants.

ene: you may be right in being skeptical. But I think that there will be more alert and mobilized online community that will counter the moves. At least there will be some balanced legislation that doesn't hinder free expression, hopefully.

I hope so. But one popular site has been shut down already. I wonder what's next....

You know, I do think that this is a good thing. But, on the other hand, I do think that it is important to have a law passed that will protect people against internet piracy. However, it needs to be done the right way. For example, I'm a digital scrapbooker and there really are no laws that protect against my work being pirated. Those things do need to be protected, but the freedom of expression does not need to be stopped.

It is good that the bill has been deferred. At the same time people should misuse the right to expression against the interest of country and its people.

it's kind of a bitter pil that we fight for that.. in the meanwhile there is no freedom of expression in many countries in this world. And even in countries where there is, people are biting their tongue afraid of what others may think of them. Afraid to speak out freely because this can be a reason to be kicked out of the society you are living in. Is there really freedom of expression, freedom of speech?
