There is woman in America who did something unbelievable, she did it to fight her fears, She tried to travel in 13 countries to meet all of her facebook friends. She is afraid of flight but she is able to overcome her fears and ride multiple airplanes so she can meet her 325 facebook friends, I have facebooks friends who were strangers but I never even think of meeting up with them. http://www.nollywoodgossip.net/2012/01/21/an-american-woman-arlynn-presser-travels-to-13-countries-to-meet-all-her-325-facebook-friends/ Wow she had taken Facebook way to seriously and she must have lots of money to travel 13 countries. To my mylot friends, Sorry I aint meeting up with you.... Have you meet up with strangers from the internet?

Is she paying for herself or someone else is supporting her. I think she has a very personal connection with all her friends in Facebook. It is very rare to find such a person who care much about friends that she meets online. Wish her well during her trips.

I think she payed it for her self. though she wont really be wasting money cos she have her journey videotaped. I think she is making a documentary about her meeting her facebook friends around the world. so she might get some profit here.

With proper documentation, I am sure she can make some good cash out of this. It fun to travel around too.

That's appalling! She must have been plenty of money to spend on travelling. I have no stranger friends in FB because I make it very private and only visible to the people I know. I never accepted a request from a total stranger so there are no strangers in my friends' list, my facebook friends are all the people I know.

If anyone I knew from the internet one day show up in front of my door, then I'll welcoming them, I always love to meet new people . As for me, I won't travel thousand miles to meet up with the people I only knew from the net just to get to know them better, I don't have the time and money .

I dont have the time either, so kudos to that woman, she invested money and time for this, some people may see it as a waste but its a unique experience no one can takeaway from her, she can look back and say "been there ,done that"I think this woman is just living her life to the fullest. her idea is one of the most unique adventures a person can experience,

I met my husband online who was a stranger pretty much at the time so yeah I guess I have... Lol. We have been married for almost 8 years now so I guess it worked out for me! As for people on Facebook, no. I don't really accept anyone I don't know there so I wouldn't really be meeting strangers.

She is courageous enough doing that. With all her expense, money and effort, I salute her! But she don't have to do that. Maybe she is just friendly and wanted to travel by visiting her facebook friends which is from the other countries. Anyway, I met my boyfriend in the facebook. I don't know about him actually though he is just distance away from our house. From there I discovered that we were elementary batchmates.

woah, She takes facebook seriously huh. Well, that's her decision, i hope that she'll not meet someone that will kill her or something. LOL. I also have some facebook friends who are strangers, but i think that i would not make an effort just to meet them in person. LOL.

yeah its better be safe or sorry, Unless you have a company of trusty friends.I have like 320 Twitter followers and I dont even talk to them, so meeting up with them is not even one of my things to do. I am interested with the documentary she is working on about her journey.

Maybe today I wouldn't meet anyone that I have just met over the internet. But I have a lot of friends whom I have met over the internet and we became good friends even outside of the internet world. But that was ten years ago where people were really chatting and meeting people to be their friends. Whenever I would set up a meeting with internet friends before, we would agree on a public place and it would usually be for lunch or early dinner. I don't have strangers on my friends' list in Facebook. So if ever I would travel all over the world to meet them, they would just either be family, high school classmates, or friends from work. And this means that my friends' list is less than 150 people!

I don't think I would ever do that. There are people that I talk online that are no where near me and while I do trust them it would be a completely different experience to meet them. I would much rather stay here where I am safe and sound, plus I just don't like flying (never have been on a plane not sure I ever will be).

and it could also be awkward too, Its easier for me to talk with some strangers in public than meet up with someone you talked with online, its going to be uncomfortable.

I have met several strangers from the internet including my husband and two of my close friends. They are from my own country so it wasn't very difficult to meet them. I would like to meet some of my online friends from other countries as well. That is more complicated, because it is expensive to travel another part of the world. I don't think that I will ever do the same thing as that woman did and travel from country to country in order to meet my online friends. I think that is could be fun to me my online friends from other countries, but I don't have the time or the money to do the same thing as she did.

One of the reasons she did it is to fight her fear of flight, I know its sounds weird, I think she is just living her life to the fullest. By far I havent met up with any internet friends, though I might consider in the future cos my real life friends started to bore me . But at this moment I still find it weird to do since people are unpredictable.

hello Capt, The closest friends I have in my life (at present) are people from the networld. 6 years ago I met bhabycatch (a mylotter) from one social site and we become friends with other girl-friends. After few months she came to my house to attend my son's birthday and that was our first meeting in real life. Since then, our friendship goes a long long way...we're not just friends- but the best and a family friend as well...(and with other girls we met from the internet)

so you are real life friends now? Amazing.. You know one of my wild dreams is too meet some random musicians online and make this "online band" we will rehearse via sky, make a youtube channel and meet up for the first time in our first major concert. apparently somebody already did that Idea before I do, so I lost the inspiration to do so,.

Hi captain Yes, the idea of traveling to 13 countries via flights does sound crazy and expensive idea and if I ever had the funds, I might do that too. But factually, it is not that easy. I do want to meet many lotters, and one of my clients who is from UK (none other yet from Internet) but that is quite a distant and remote expectation to come true. However, I did get a chance and met one of the Lotters who had visited my city and we had met for a mere 15 minutes at the railway station. Though he is about (or more) double my age, yet, I didnt feel for a second that I was meeting this Gentleman for the very first time in my Life. If all experiences are going to be so great, I see no reason I shouldnt start planning to meet many who are from my country

Its like a once in a lifetime experience, Its cool but its not one of the things I would want to do unless I have bodyguards...LOL Talking to strangers online is fun but sometimes people are different from their online persona. I think her facebook friends would be touched they were visited by her and they get to know her better even for a short time. she takes it seriously but i think her story is touching.

Wow! I didn't think someone would take Facebook so seriously. But it was probably more of a trip around the world than a trip to meet her Facebook friends. I have lots of friends on Facebook that I've never met in real life, and may never meet. I see Facebook partly as a tool to know new people, which I don't necessarily know or have met in real life. What she did is pretty cool anyways. I would've done that if I had what it takes. I find your discussions to always be interesting. Have a nice time myLotting!

she have the money to do so, I think its going to be an interesting experience to meet multiple people you met online and see how their lives were like. I am uncomfortable of doing that my self but it could be an interesting experience, she will see people finally in flesh and experience their hospitality. I wonder if some people decline her offer to meet up.

It certainly is a very interesting experience. I would do such a trip if I had the money and time. Of more than 300 people, I think some might not have the time to meet her, I can't be sure ofcourse. She would still see new country and have an experience of a lifetime.

I would be interested in meeting some of my Mylot friends. I don't really think someone just showing up at my door would be a great idea though. I would want to know if they were coming. I really don't care to have people just dropping by my home, family and friends are included. I don't just show up at their house and I would expect the same. Best Wishes!

That is soo interesting. Not to mention that she probably will make some history and some cash just because she is videotaping it. Thats great and good for her to overcome her fears she picked a hell of a way to do so maybe without thinking of conquences but that's her choice. If a mylotter showed up knocking on my door, I have to say I would be suspicious. That's just me though but once I could identify their identity they would be more than welcome. I have not met up with any strangers from the internet although I have traded phone numbers and we have had very long, deep, and interesting conversations. It was a very fun and great way to get to know somebody. :)

she is hitting 3 birds with one stone, she can meet up with some friends around the world, she can fight her fear of flight and she might profit from the documentary she is making, the premise of her documentary is interesting.

I know if a person is scared of riding on a plane it must be very scary to go on a plane journey. Doing is just once would be excellent but a number of times I say congratulations to that lady. It was amazing she traveled to thirteen different countries to see her Face Book friends. I am very keen on traveling to different countries. I travel with a low budget and the airfares these days are pricey. I would travel to five different countries but seeing more than that on one trip would be challenging. It would be easier to visit thirteen European countries than visit friends say in America, Israel, India, the Philippines and Australia on the same trip. I would be happy to meet up with My Lot or Face Book friends if it fitted in with my travel plans.

Wow well if she has the money to do it and the interest then I guess good for her. I personally dont like meeting strangers. Unless someone lives locally or I've heard about them through others then I am to scared to get to know them. For myself it is not to big a deal but I worry about the safety for my kids. Hopefully this woman is enjoying her time she is spending meeting these facebook friends.

hi captalbertwhisker wow she really worked at it and I if I ha d been on her friends list in Facebook and she had come to Gold Crest I would have been delighted to meet her. some of the comments shown on her Facebook account were really mean suggesting she might carry some communicable disease. How very untrusting so many are now days.I have met dumblondizzy from mylot and facebook here at my retirement center a year ago. My picture is with her on my facebook account.I am the white haired Mrs. Hatley shes Lori olson the strawberry blonde lady. She is such a sweet person I loved her the moment we met. so sweet and friendly. so you aren't going to stop here in Garden Grove Capt and meet up with Patsie Hatley. ah I am going to cry boo hoo. see you made me cry.lol lol

if one of my my lot friends would one day knock on my door then i would gladly welcome him or her in my house but i would not dare meet up with him. i wouldn't want to be part of statistics of the growing number of murdered victims of internet friends.

Oh yeah there are so many cases around the world of people getting brutally murdered raaped by some itnernet and cellphone friends., they were still total strangers.
