Does an apple keeps doctor away

Hope all knows about an apple a day keeps a doctor away, does it really sound proper, do you eat an apple to stay away from doctor, I eat an apple in breakfast almost everyday will that keep me away from a doctor, till what extent

hello! I didn't eat apple everyday! But as they say it keeps you from sickness. But i drink vitamins. So its ok :)

No it doesn't. I ate more apples as you can imagine and I probably needed more doctors (and hospitals too) as one can imagine. Also an apple is not good for the teeth at all (that is what they always told us kids). The acid in the apple is an attack for you teeth. So if you eat an apple don't brush your teeth for at least 30 min. or longer. Unless you like to activate the acid more which will eat the holes in your teeth. I think these sayings are just a commercial expression, way to tell it's always better to eat fruit as candies!

if you throw the apple at the doctor i expect it will keep him away. i would not want hit in the noggin by a granny smith.

This expression must be known worldwide :)) It's what my mother was saying to me when I was younger! I don't eat an apple every day but I get sick several times every year, so I have realised that fresh fruits really help and they provide vitamines that are necessary keep us healthy. I guess it also depends on healthy living as well and on how strong is the body of each individual, but I would be curious to see if it was worked with others!!
