Chocolate contains a poison that will affect dogs, cats, and humans. The poison is known as theobromine in case you want to do more research on your own. I'm not sure of the exact reasoning it has such a greater affect on dogs and cats versus the affect on humans other than genetics and size.

absolutely not. in fact, chocolate is very toxic to dogs. and that toxin can build up gradually in the body. so eating the occasional small piece over a long period of time will do just as much harm as eating the same amount in one go. and if there is that build up it can take just the small amount to take that dog over the edge and make them either very ill or even kill them.

We don't have dog but a cat pet.We usually lend out cat a piece of chocolate when we are eating and our cat is enjoying eating it and nothing bad happen.I guess it is good for a dog to eat chocolate too and for sure they will like it.

According to the experts that if you will give a chocolate even if its small this will leads a dog to crave more. They will do a way to have it and in a big amount. And this can cause bad effect.

It is dark chocolate and cocoa, such as baking chocolate, that is bad for dogs. Milk chocolate is not the culprit. Every dog I have ever had ate chocolate, milk chocolate that is, and lived to be a ripe old age. I had a basset that loved onions! and did him no harm.

No, it is not good to give chocolates to dogs. It is a deadly food for the dogs. I have learned it via the net. And many people say the same. I love China

As I understand it, it is not the chocolate that is harmful to dogs, rather that most commercial chocolate is processed with a chemical called alkalai that they are not able to digest. A small amount like what you've described shouldn't do much more than make your dog sick to its stomach but try to keep him away from it in the future.
