It is essential to ensure pure water for brewing tea. Impure water reduces the quality and hence the value of teas. Water having a pH value of 6.7 to 7.8 is recommended. Slightly acidic water is better than slightly alkaline water. If you want to know further then go to my blog. Blog Url: www.food-tea.blogspot.com If you know more, then share. Thanks

Ha ha, I like the first person's idea. Tea is tea. I feel like water is generally safe for us. Especially if you boil it to make your tea anyway, wouldn't that purify it?

But I earlier mentioned that the quality of tea depends on pH value, iron content and so on.

I don't think making tea requires pure water, but I do believe that if you want quality anything you need quality ingredients. Which makes me think that it if anyone wants the best quality, he or she needs to use the best materials. Using pure water while unnecessary for tea, should make it at least marginally better. However, it's up to each person whether or not the better taste is worth the extra effort. Sorry for the long and rambling response to your question, but I'm just getting used to sharing my opinion on everything and anything on this website.

Yes, quality is the prime factor. So pure water is needed.

I don't know if the exact pH value is critical, but I do agree that good water makes good tea or any other drink like that. I didn't realize how much difference it makes until I recently got a water filter that filters out fluoride and chlorine - wow, the water tastes so good and my tea now tastes like Mom used to make from good well water.

I have the water from the well and we people have a good pure water from well becuase we keep them away from the pollutants. Anyway it is good to share this important piece of information.

Gee, I never thought of that. Maybe just a ploy to make us all think we need to have pure water in order for the tea to bring on it's most favorable capabilities. I can't see how these studies are truly done, or spend time on researching them, but I guess there is someone out there somewhere who knows better about this topic than me.

I have shared my views after having a research in my University lab. So I have mentioned the truth.
