Brushing the Teeth is not Enough

I know brushing the teeth is the most basic thing we do in order to care for our teeth. However, I have realized that it is not enough to really say that we have fully taken cared of it. As for me, although I always do this routine everyday, there is still lacking. I feel that it is not fully cleaned. I am planning to visit again a dentist and have a check-up on my teeth. If the dentist sees something wrong in my teeth, I will have surely fixed it. I remember from the last my last visit that there is. But I don't have the money yet. I am also planning to put some teeth retainers to improve my speech. Is brushing our teeth enough or not?

I just had my teeth fixed and changed the filling in most of them. I have very bad teeth even though I take care of them. I was always told by the dentists that I don't take care of them and I will have dentures at 30 (well, I still have my teeth). The truth is that I brush them properly after every meal and use floss too, and it's not enough. My current dentist says it has to be be genetics, as I do everything I can to prevent decay, but I get cavities inside my teeth or under the filling.

Congratulations my friend for you have complied what is needed to do with your teeth. I am happy for you. I hope you will not have dentures yet at the age of 30. That's a bit too early. Anyway, it is good you have practiced flossing. But still it is not enough. I also get cavities. There are really things which can't do and has to be done by the specialists.

Why not seek another specialist my friend? For you to really know what is wrong with you. There might be abnormalities, I am afraid to say. Just keep your faith strong and everything will be alright. A good day!

Actually, I can only slow down the "process" and can't stop my teeth from having cavities. But I try to have my teeth checked regularly, so if something needs to be fixed, it gets fixed in time. You are right, we need specialist to get help with some things. I wonder if there are some nutritional deficiencies behind these cavity problems, though I never had problems with my bones.

Yes, it is not enough to just brush the teeth. Now I have a habit to use the waterpick after brushing my teeth. It is recommended by a friend and this is quite useful for me. I feel that my dental health is better than before. It can really remove little dirty thing from your teeth. I love China

What is waterpick my friend? I am curious about that thing you are doing. How do we waterpick our teeth? As for me, every after brushing I still have to check again my teeth if it is fully cleaned already. I love China too!

It works like a floss with water and it is great. The effect is obvious. Perhaps you can look up more information from Amazon.com and the key word is waterpik.

Brushing our teeth is not enough. We need to take better care of it, such as flossing and taking care of our diet. Whatever we eat does affect the condition of our teeth too. Eating too much sweet stuffs causes tooth decay, too much sour will weaken our tooth. Though brushing teeth does help in protecting, but we can't possibly be brushing throughout the day right? There are times we snack in between meals and we can't possibly teeth our teeth after snacking The best way to care for our teeth, is to watch our diet, not eating too much of everything, exercise some self control

Yes it does! The food we eat matters on how are teeth is doing. What we eat will be very clear on our teeth especially if we don't take care of it properly. Nahhh~~ It doesn't have to be that we have to brush our teeth every after meal. That is bad. We will just hurt our teeth and gums. Best way though is to know what we eat, consult a doctor and be responsible to our own teeth.

In terms of hygiene, brush teeth twice a day after meals that's enough. But, in terms of dental health, teeth brushing certainly not enough. You still have to regularly gargling with mouthwash and cleaning teeth using dental floss to remove impurities on the sidelines of the teeth which maybe can't reached by toothbrush.

Proper brushing of the teeth is highly recommended by the dentists. When I mean proper, it includes already the number of times we brush and we just don't brush like nothing. Somehow I find it hard to reach those areas near the jaw.

I let my 2 young kids ages turning 5 and 3 to brushed their teeth twice a day and I let them see their dentist at least every 8 months for pro cleaning and calcium taking. And of course to befriends with the dentist which some kids are seeing them like a monster that should be avoid of. My ages 11 daughter brushed her teeth 3x a day, can add more if she eat sweets in between meals. I floss her teeth but it's not regularly. I'm kinda forgot doing it for her, she just reminds me. But she's learning it herself now. I'm glad. Her teeth were all in good condition. All her molars and pre-molars were undergone sealant. I regularly bring her to dentist for some pre-cautions too. Me and my husband were a moutwash lover *wink. We go to dentist as a family regularly. We're taking advantage of our health benefits including dentals of free cleaning and 2 free pasta/sealant procedure every year. Yes! Brushing is not enough. We should see our dentist for more pro caring of our teeth. But brushing, flossing and use of mouthwash is a good caring each day.

Oh thank you Cearn for the good words! I just don't want my kids suffer what I had when I'm young. I don't want them to grew with missing molars. My mother didn't save my molars *sigh! Whenever my tooth had a simple ache and decay, my mother had it extracted. She didn't save my molars. Maybe she has no proper idea that saving teeth is the best and not the extraction. Lesson learned! I want my kids to enjoy eating with all their teeth on hahaha

They are words that are true my friend and from the heart. I mean it. I hope mean what you are doing too. Continue it as what I have told you. Yeah, we don't have to let our children (I don't have children yet though) experience the those bad things we have been through. But is okay. Mother will always be mother no matter what. Kids need to enjoy their being kids! Let them be. Still be protective sometimes.

I have learned that brushing our teeth is just an outward way of cleaning our teeth. However, the most important is how we take care of our health in general, that leads to a healthy gums and teeth. Even if we brush our teeth every day but we are not eating a balance diet, which includes food that will make our gums strong, it would be difficult to have a healthy teeth. When we have healthy gums, naturally, it will help also our teeth.

Absolutely. We also have to consider the foods that we eat. It really affects with our teeth. There are foods which makes our teeth have a bad breath or yellowish teeth. I don't want to have that. I am considering to have a check up to a dentist on how to make my teeth white. I hope sooner.

Flossing between the teeth is important. Mineral water can help people sometimes with calcium to help with their teeth. Some people have bacteria that cause problems and may need mouthwash that is anti-bacterial. The question is a good one to ask your dentist and report back what he says. I think it depends on the person.

It really depends on the situation of the person with his teeth. Those you have mentioned are very helpful for those who don't know how to take care of their teeth. Better consult a dentist first because they are the expert. They know everything and will eventually help in treating our teeth right. Thanks!

Brushing teeth is not adequately enough but it just a preventive measure. It is always good to have annual checkup with a dentist for further checkup.

Yes, indeed we need to visit sometimes a dentist to see what is going on in our teeth. Dentists helps us because they specialize on how to make our teeth healthy as it could be.

Brushing, flossing, and mouthwash tend to be a good routine. Brushing really can't get everything in there. I hear flossing after every meal is also a good habit to pick up, or even chewing some sugar-free gum if flossing isn't an option.

As much as possible, I try to floss my teeth every after meal. I want to make it a habit actually. That is why when I am at the grocery, I make sure I don't forget to buy the things use for flossing. With sugar-free gum, I haven't tried that.

I don't think brushing your teeth is enough either. Although there is only so much we can do. Brushing is better than nothing. I think a good routine of brushing, flossing, and rinsing atleast twice a day is probably the best we can do without being doctors ourselves. But all in all I agree brushing in itself is just not enough for people that actually care about what their teeth look like.

Thanks if you agree with me my friend. We shouldn't settle for brushing our teeth only. We must also seek other ways. Still, it is still best not to forget brushing because it is very important. It has been part in our lives to keep our teeth clean.
