Would you help a stranger who needs help? Often when we walk down the street we encounter beggars but how often we give them pennies ? In most cases we avoid these people. Would you give food and shelter to someone who has nowhere to sleep and nothing to eat?

Yes,I help him.I help strangers and I want to continue it.But when it comes to helping beggars,I have to be watchful.I have seen strong and able men and women begging on roads. They can work and earn their living. But they are reluctant to work, because they are lazy and want to get money without doing anything.Helping them would amount to encouraging them.I have seen them squandering all the money they get from begging in drinking. That's why I help only poor old men and women who are either too old or handicapped.

You're right ! Not everyone has the opportunity to recive good education and job but everyone must try do work something. They have to take care of themselves not to sit and do nothing just waiting for people to help them.

Of course,as long as one is physically fit and healthy, one should work. Those who don't work are not entitled to be helped. We should not encourage such tendency by helping these parasites.

I once had a psychology teacher who told us about something she experienced once - a man who was in a high-volume area begging for money. She observed him and, after making some small change over a few hours, went to a nearby bush and dragged out a wheelchair and sat himself in it back in his old spot. Got a ton more money that way. Hence, I'm somewhat weary giving money to them, but I'll still do it on occasion when I feel I won't miss the change (it's a bit hard when I'm pinching every penny these days). As for letting one of them in for shelter ... I don't think I'd be able to. Some people are homeless because of bad circumstances, others are a bit mentally unstable, and it's hard to really judge that at first glance. I'd offer a warm meal, maybe, but not a place for the night.

hi ivonanko, When I am outside, I encounter strangers most of the times asking for my assistance or help.. I encounter sometimes old women asking for my help in crossing the road. I do not hesitate in doing it. This morning, an old man asked for my help in using the atm machine so I extended a help. I do not think twice in helping other people especially if I can do something for them. However, when it comes with beggar, I do not lend money. I like to give foods rather than money for them.

I'm kind of inclined to say no. Not out of any maliciousness or heartlessness, but really out of just being a bit cautious to say the very least. There are just so many scams and schemes out there, where people might concoct some sob story that sounds rather convincing but really is a front just to scam kind-hearted people out of something. Of course, that does a disservice to people who do in fact need to the help but its not like these scam artists care about that. Its really a shame that I don't have some kind of mind reading power that shows who is being honest about being need and who is actually scamming them. So in the meantime, I will not be helping any strangers at any point in the time. There are just going to be too many unforeseen headaches right out there. It is good to help people, but the nature of the world has made it a bit harder to know who really is in need. Even if there are many people who are.

I love helping those less fortunate than myself. However I would not give shelter. You cannot just pick up somebody whom you do not know and bring him over to live with you. You don’t know him enough for this. However I would adopt a child. Nothing would give me more joy than this.

If you have the good will personality, then you can help them out. If you are concern, you can call for an assistance from a social service center to save their lives.

I would be willing to help a total stranger, but certainly with limitations, and that is after a thorough assessment of his/her needs. Help is extended to those who really needs help.

Yes I will.If given all the chance and under my capability I will always do. It's not everyday that we are given the chance to help anyone,so, I will surely grab the opportunity to do so.

hello ivonanko, I do help stranger who needs help but strangers and beggars are two different conditions, not all strangers are beggar. One day my friend and I met an old man walked with a little boy, they did not take bus and keep walking even they looked so exhausted. so my friend asked him why they did not take the bus, the man told us that he just back from visiting his son to asked for financial help but the son's wife kicked them out. they did not have money to come back home so they need to walk home for 20 km. they were not beggar, they were poor people who do not have money to buy the bus's ticket. as we are only students we did not have a lot of money, but we gave them our pocket money so the man could get a bus to come back to village. it was really sad that we did not have a lot of money but we tried our best to help them. but if i meet a stranger who has nothing to eat and nowhere to sleep, it is better to contact the government social department because I think the social department can help them better than I do since I do not have a job and I have limited budget and I cant take stranger to stay in my home. it is a good thing to help each other but we also need to be careful because many bad people might use the situation to pretend themself as stranger who need help and if we let them stay in our home, who knows what might happen. I do not give money to beggars who looks young and healthy, but I cant resist when it is an old man or old woman. I keep asking myself why they are on the street begging for money, where is their kids why they do not take care of the elderly. but the economic crisis has increased the number of poverty, so I know they have to struggle to survive. the look on their face when they received pennies from us is different than the young beggar which I called the young beggar as fake beggar, the elderly beggar looked so grateful and they thanked us many times. I wish I could help more.

I do it everywhere I am no matter which country. I only don't give anymore to those fake beggars who seem to be here everywhere waiting in front of the supermarket. Not poor or homeless at all (big houses in Romania and fooling people). I give food, money but not a shelter in my own house. We have shelters over here, if they have money they can sleep there.

I used to give money to the beggars especially kids, but I stopped doing it coz I felt really bad by giving him money coz one time after I gave that kid money, I saw him sniffing rugby with my money. :-( So, after that, I promised to myself not to give them money anymore but foods only.

I try to help people in little ways, opening doors, letting older people pass first, etc. But I don't give pennies to beggars because I think there's a syndicate behind them. I do give to charities.

i prefer to give them a job if i have, because if we just give them some food or even money. we will make them lazier and their life won't be change.
