MyLot question.

What is the benefit of having "friends" on MyLot and why would you want friends that you don't even know?

Oh I so dislike the use of 'benefit' when it concerns friends (both offline and online). Having friends on myLot allows us to contact them through private messages. If they are not on our list then we can't contact them privately. Also, if we have their notifier set to 'on', we will see their new topics as soon as they post them. We could then respond if we can relate to the topic and they might do likewise for us too. Adding them as friends is the start of getting to know them better too. Who knows that one day, after interacting with them a lot on here, we might even meet up in person

Yes. It's possible to meet one of these days. Have you also encountered a post here wherein a member is expecting another gift from her myLot friend? She said that they've been excahnging gifts since she became member of this site.

Online friends that we don't know very well can turn into close friends. Some of my friends and I often talk when we respond to eachother's discussions, and little by little we got to know eachother better. Today we exchange PMs, write emails outside Mylot, talk on Facebook etc. I plan on meeting some of them in person one day Friendships have to start somewhere and here on Mylot they start when we send friend requests to people we don't know...yet

Hello there, I can see you are newbie here. Well, at first I have the same thinking. You can participate in all discussions you like, your choice, not mine, isn't it? Same as friends, you can either just participate in here or gain friends which you can't avoid in here as long as you can be active always. It also depends on how you trust others even we are only living or seeing each other virtually. It depends on how you think on how to gain friends. First of all, how do you gain friends in real world? Isn't it you have to make a move to get to know the person or people around you? And for you to be able to do that, you have to talk to them or observe their moves or so. Same as in here. You can learn things from members on what they post in discussions here. Well, it also depends if they really are the one who are posting or other people living with them. It can be both. But if you stay long in here, you will be able to know people and learn from them as well. Trusting them can also lead to friendship. What do you think?

Thank you, I see your point. And yes, I can learn things from others on here. I'm glad I found MyLot! Trusting can take a lot, but I will see in time how that can work.

with having friends in mylot, you will be able to answer and participate in a lot of discussions. with that there will also be a lot of people that will know if you have begun a new discussion. I want to add people that i dont know and make them my friends because it is fun to have a lot of friends and also knowing that your friends are around the globe is fun!

I earn a lot because of my friends. Yes. They are the ones who always respond to my discussions. Of course, there are also comments from members who are not my friends, but having friends help a lot.

Yes. The more friends you have, the more chances of making your discussion worthy because they'll respond to them.

What I like here regarding the friendships is being able to have friends from around the world. Living in the states, it is interesting and fun to hear about someone's day to day life in India or Scotland. This is how we learn others are much like ourselves, and their lives not much different. We all have struggles, problems, dreams, hopes, families, and friends and jobs. Some of us are pet people, some own dogs, others have cats, others love reptiles. We can connect with those of similar interests, no matter where we live.

Yes, I can see how that can be interesting, especially since I have never been outside of the United States!

i don't think that having manu friends here cna be considered a benefit if we speak about earning...it is just way to share discussions or topic related and so have the chance to write on topics you like more i guess..

I guess everyone has their own reasons for being here.

hi CFstats that second sentence shows a lack of imagination. I have been here for five years, and though I have only met one good my lot friend in person, I do know a lot of my mylot friends pretty well through our correspondence here. when I was ill these friends cared for me more than some off line friends, and they have helped and cared about me as I have tried to help them too and care about them. With friends you can private message them, learn to know them and let them know you.we respond to each others discussions and we soon begin to know one other. We do become real friends even if we do not see each other in person. You can know someone through online correspondence pretty well. some times I do not really know some off line friends as well as I thought I did. This is really a social network, have you thought about that?
26 Mar 12
Maybe you're right, I had a lack of imagination. I guess when I first started on here I didn't really think about it being a social network, I just thought about it being a place to learn interesting facts and opinions of different people. But now I can see how there can be friendships started. Thanks.

as you can see it is also a good place and way to find special friends with your same interests. then when you become friends on here, you get a heads up in your email when they start a discussion you want to get in on. like just now. i accepted your friends request then saw this in your list of "friends started" because lately ive missed some from glitches here. i like it here better then FB
27 Mar 12
Thank you bunnybon for accepting my friend request! Yes, I can see why it's good to have friends on MyLot now.

Well, let's see. The friendship, the true one, for us human beings is something almost indispensable, before the advent of the digital age, we knew to had friends personally. With advanced technologies, we now have "friends" all over the world who do not know and probably never meet. Just think of the phenomenon that is depopulated Facebook! Here on Mylot, some friends work the same way. Because Mylot is a worldwide community with over 200,000 registered members, is just make a circle of friends, to exchange various opinions, perhaps related to a common interest.
