I am sure some of you have already heard about this Japanese scientist who succeeded in coming up with steaks or burgers made from human feces. According to this research, poop burger is 63% protein and it tastes much like beef. The Japanese scientist added some food coloring and enhanced its taste by using soy protein. If you will google this on YouTube you will find how the entire process is done. This breakthrough could be the solution to global hunger and crisis. What do you think of this? Nothing will go to waste and this is a very good example of recycling and saving the environment and fighting poverty. Share your thoughts on this.

Well it doesn't sound delicious at all but it might be healthier than most of the fast foods I ate in my "university-life" :P Though if industrially developed countries ever want to end poverty and hunger they could just lower their budgets on weaponry and they can give some of these money to 3rd world countries :) By a quick look o wikipedia I saw that an f16 costs around 70$million and a stealth bomber costs 1.07$ billion per unit. ;)

@Hatley Excactly. What's the point on researching on something that can be easier and much more peaceful solved? :) @stowyk Hopefully I quit most junk food when I finish university :) Well at least the bad stuff :P If they do consider though on releasing these foods my "marketing advise" is to never tell the truth about the food ingredients :P

It's good to recycle things so it can be use but I think this one will not work for me.I heard poop are recycled to be made into fertilizers but for consumption,it'a no no.I would rather die of hunger than to eat poop burger.I think that there are so many alternatives on solving hunger than this disgusting idea.

Maybe we can make food out of grasses.I think it's safer to eat as animals do.

Grass would be vegetable but poop would be meat.

There are a lot of alternative food to eat than that. Only people must search and be nutritionist to have a good and nice food to eat. Fruits and vegetable are anywhere to be found even we lost in the jungle there are a lot of fruits and natural resources, so why they have to invent that such nasty food. It is a human waste that's why we call it a waste, it must not getting back it again. I dare no one can it if they really knew it was. yuk

You can view the entire process of transforming it into steaks. Type "Japanese scientist who invented poop burger" and you will read the story and watch the video of producing it as well.

Well i guess i'll agree to that when push comes to shove, i mean to places that are in real need of food and people are really severely desperate to eat i think it is a good solution but right now for me personally maybe not.

I actually haven't heard of this before, and now this makes me think twice before I eat burgers just imagining such thing... I read before about the use of human hair in the process of making bread; I actually stop buying bread from stores and only eat home made bread now.

Yeah, but you know the finished product looks like the burgers sold in supermarkets.

I'll stay away from those then... Doesn't matter if the finished product looks or smells appetizing; but having the thought of where they came from is enough to put me off. I can't imagine anyone would try if they knew what the burgers consist of.

I just wonder the vegan's reaction to this new concept after all we are not killing any animals...but I guess the vegans will ask for poop from vegans and not from meat eaters? My thoughts on this? I think is a load of sh**t.

World hunger should not exist today! if the government of the world put their heads together Im sure world hunger would be there no more! and besides who would be eating food derived from poop? not the rich for sure! but the poor [ whom had been let to live in poverty by their own worthless government] they had sh**t all their lives so lets give them some more!

Is this some kind of April Fool's joke? Anyways I think it's a horrible solution to global hunger because there no way eating our own feces is good for us and it can't possibly be good for any species. There are no nutrients are minerals that we would be getting, just the waste that our body has rejected from other food. There is already enough of a problem of making food that has virtually no nutritional value and this would be the worst possible example of that. We could easily solve the hunger crisis by simply not wasting so much food and working hard on creating more agricultural farms and lowering the cost of food. Perhaps in the future even creating food bank kind of things where you don't have to pay money for something that is necessary for life and you can just go there and get your groceries. I still don't see why there aren't nonprofit organizations like that yet.

I know for sure that we have enough food (the normal kind) to feed everyone in the planet. The problem is how to take the food to other places and what to do with people who prefer to burn their crops than to give them away to the hungry. I doon´t think this solution (or any) will help as long as people don´t become aware that we are all brothers.

I agree with you Marguicha, but this new invention would greatly help the very poor hungry nations. Don't you think so?

There´s no such thing as "very poor nations". I think that some people grab more than their fair share and if there´s a problem, they use their weapons. We, people of the world, can be fed without resorting to poop if some of us, people, would not need to have so many things

Talking about recycling your poop for human consumption, I just never heard of such thing before. It's definitely interesting, but not appealing at the same time. Few weeks ago, there was a discussion started on recycling poop or toilet waste for fuel. I would support waste for fuel. For consumption, I'd rather fast a little bit longer. If this is true, I hope these Japanese scientists are not crazy enough to deceive people about a new kind of food. I would be ok drinking water that had been tampered with waste as long as it is processed and filtered properly. Of course, I would need to cook it first.

Yikes, it really sounds so disgusting and gross! I mean what kind of a person would try to eat something made from the poop! and in my opinion, recycling is best left for stuff that can really be recycled and not attempt to play with something like food that should be safe and healthy and nutritious. How can anything made from poop be nutritious? If it wasn't waste, we wouldn't be throwing it out of our body in the first place!! Coming to the question of global hunger and crisis, if all of us resolved not waste and throw any more food, then the problem would be solved. If all of us resolved to eat only so much that is actually required by our bodies, then the crisis would not be there!

that's a wonderful discovery ,people will be skeptical at first but after sometime they will get use to it ,however a lot of poo will still need to be exported to poor countries because the lesser food you have the smaller the amount of poo you give out
