New yahoo meet-up group

I just designed a new meetup group on yahoo meetups, cropping n crafting, (scrapbooking and crafting of all types). I was wondering if anyone else has started a meetup group in their area. If you have, how did you publish and/or promote it to get new members to join? I have posted the link on my facebook page and sent out emails to friends. How successful was your meetup? After designing your group, how long did you wait to schedule a meetup, and where did you hold your first one? I am hoping that this takes off, I realize it might take some time to get the word out. I have run into many ladies in stores here that 'wished' there was a group an/or scrapbooking/craft store here locally. The closest one is 95 miles away, guess that will be my next BIG project, opening my own store!!
