There's a lot of new devices that we have in the house, in our living room, bedroom. And most of the time each devises has it owns remote controls that results to multiply and which is never good for a stress free viewing. I was looking everywhere I'm already stress I can open the TV but I cannot sit because I have to change channels and I can't find my remote, I was looking it everywhere until I found hiding themselves under the couch. I have the universal remote but there are such many complication that's why I don't use it.

I have a few remotes...i keep them all in the same place and dont really lose them. All four sit on the coffee table to the left of the couch. When i leave the living room they get set there. Its a litte harder when others are visiting but at night time when i go to bed i always take the time to put them back after people are in bed. That way they are accessible. I cant be bothered to program the satellite remote to turn the tv on...or the tv remote to work the satellite because for 6 months of the year we turn off the satellite.

I make the time to do so. Saves me time later for not having to search for them.

Lyn, remote controls gone missing is quite common in my home, too. I always have to search high and low for my remote controls. Remote controls for my television and air-cond are top of the list that always gone missing. Now, i make it a must for everyone in my home to put those remote controls on the table, after using them. So, i won't have to gone through another headache anymore.

Hiya lynb, Remote Controls that I have I put them on top of the Sofa that is against the wall so they don´t slide down the back or on top of a high Shelf. Having them in those places helps me to remember where they are as I have a Dog that is into everything including chewing my remote Controls that is if I let him of course so I don´t they are high up as possible as he jumps quite high. Apart from that I keep them very clean well as clean as I can and always check the batteries too to make sure they are in a good state as well. I know how complicated they can be as now I have an extra remote control to cope with otherwise everything else is manual. xxx

If there's one thing that pisses me off in the house is when the remote is missing especially when the kids use it, I watch t.v. and switch channels even when I am half awake or almost asleep so it's so hard for me to get up and change channels ( i change often). The same is true with the aircon, energy is wasted when it's already cold in the morning and you do not feel like getting up to turn it off cause the remote was not near you before you slept. Some times the remotes are there but the battery covers are the ones missing... but that's another story.....

Years ago, I had a remote control holder made with my name engraved on it. It's got space for them to sit upright, then a beam across the front so they don't fall out.

I have several remotes that I keep in a container so that if I can't find the universal remote, I can use any of the others. All our equipment except our Sky Box is Sony so each remote will operate the TV and DVD recorders. It is still frustrating to lose the universal one, because I keep forgetting how to use the original! _Derek

Although I live alone at my home, the remote control I use in my bedroom always gets missplaced. Sometimes I fall asleep with the TV on and when I try to get the remote C to turn it off it´s easier to get out of my bed. Remotes have an evil way of hiding!

Have a proper place for remote controls. Duh- this is one of the common problem with my kids, they always misplaced the remote control and then they will say "mom, where's the remote control" huh?... why ask me Usually they will left it above the ref- maybe one put it there while having a drink. Inside their bedroom- maybe one bring it there when looking for other things while watching. Sometimes in the dining table- under the throw pillow- name it- :p

Jai sis, seems like you are having a hard time locate for your remote controls, too. The remote controls in my home always gone here and there by members in my family, too. I usually need to keep asking them and keep searching and at last i had found my needed remote control. Should we impose strict rules regarding handling the remote control in our home?

hello lyn ,speaking of remote control. It usually, well always a situation at home.. Even though we keep it in one place,it always end up missing and all of us are looking for it.We do have a Universal remote control too but we really can't explain why and yeah we also sometimes find it in between the couch but using it doesn't give me difficulty because I'm already used to it.

we always forget where we put the remote before and my pops would get mad at us but now i don't watch that much on television anymore. i am always here on the computer and i see my pops keep the remote under his pillow now people in the house keep going back and forth fro the television when they want to change the channel. sometimes would just choose one channel that everyone can watch.

aha, remote control, that's my bad. I can not use remote control other than to turn up and down volume. It's so complicated to me, doesn't matter how many time hubby try to explain to me I just don't get it. SO usually I told him to turn on tv and set everything before he went to work otherwise I just working on my computer.

That's the same trouble I have at our living room. There were 4 units of remote controls, but only 1 is left working. I was hoping a universal remote would do the trick, but you're saying its not very efficient? We haven't tried one, though. I would suggest you have a common place to keep all the remote controls, and educate everyone in the house that they should put it back in there, after using. Otherwise, you'll hide them all, and only you can have the satisfaction and convenience of using remote controls for your stuff. That's what I would have done, before everything got out of control.

I don't have all the bells and whistles. I have three remotes. One is the cable that changes the channels. Another is the tv that mutes and turns it up, down and off. And the third is to the DVD player. It seems so silly. I am not a mechanical person at all. Glad we have good cable techs.

I only use the Tv's remote which is in my room, and no matter how messy I am, I always find it. Well, now it has run out of battery and I was kind of lazy to recharge it, so I got used to switch channels manually :D.
